1. Of course, Obama, the UK and the EU will swallow this!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (09.12.09)
He will do anything to appease the Arabs as will the Brits and the rest of the EU! We all know that Israel’s security is “very important” to the USA. This is what Barak Obama told AIPAC before the election. Of course it is provided it does not conflict with the “friendship” the USA has with the Muslim world. Then we become chopped liver! Prime Minister Netanyahu may renege on his promises to the "Settlers" and his right wing but he cannot and dare not trust anyone, including the USA, with our national security. Our survival is in his hands as is the survival of the Jewish people and that is not negotiable!
2. Telling the BIG Lie
Dan ,   Titusville, FL   (09.12.09)
Say that you do not want to possess nuclear weapons until you have them then you change your theology to accept nuclear weapons to summon the 12th Imam. It boggles the mind that Obama crawled on his hands and knees begging Iran to talk to us and now Iran says that they will talk but not about nukes. In the night that we destroy Iran's nuclear capabilities we also must decapitate their Islamic leadership to free the Iranian people from their long nightmare and get paybacks for when they captured American embassy personnel and held them hostage 444 days.
3. Oh really?
Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (09.12.09)
Then why are all of Iran's reactors breeder reactors? Breeder reactors are not the most efficient generators of electricity, there are far better types of reactors Iran could have built if its intent was truly for peaceful purposes. But no, Iran has built breeder reactors. Breeder reactors, you see, have one purpose, and one purpose only: you can take the spent fuel rods, and use them to enrich uranimum to weapons grade fissile material. So Iran's defense minister is lying. Gee, there's a surprise: deliberate lies out of Tehran. Who'd have thought?
4. IDIOT !!!.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (09.12.09)
"We regard production of weapons of mass destruction as contrary to our religious, human and national principles," the Fars news agency quoted Vahidi as saying. NOBODY WILL BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE DEVELOPED LONG RANGE BALLISTIC MISSILES FOR TO THREW A CONVENTIONAL LOAD OF 1000 KG DNT 3000 KM. ONLY IDIOTS WOULD DO THIS. AND I DO NOT THINK YOU ARE , MORE THAN REGARDING TRYING TO MAKE US BELIEVE THAT. Arn.
5. I promise you.......
(09.12.09)
That Iran is not developing nuclear weapons. It is only for domestic generation of electricity, part of which is to use to pump the oil which we all use and need, out of the ground and onto ships.
6. Since When Is Islam A Religion?
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville USA   (09.12.09)
At the heart of Islam is the Koran, which is not a holy document. It is a historical record, written by humans whose backward viewpoint is rooted in violence, oppression, misogyny and rabid anti-Semitism. Preaching hate and violence while dying and killing in Allah's name hardly qualifies this bizarre doctrine as a religion. As for Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi's ridiculous comment that "nuclear weapons are anti-Islam," that has about as much integrity as Iran's claim that The Supreme Liar and the Theocratic Thieves are the legally elected representatives of the Iranian people.
7. The use of the Taqiyyah tactic
Brod ,   USA   (09.12.09)
is now being employed to fool the world about the Fanatics' nuke ambition. It is the Islamist-Jihadist tool of Deception to fool their enemy. Meanwhile, they are feverishly working on their nukes 24/7. The world must not be fooled by their crap. The fact is the Fanatics are hellbent on their nukes and their evil intent. They will never surrender to the world's demand that they dismantle their nuke facility and Uranium Enrichment Program. The AntiSemite Papist-dominated Obama administration and their counterpart-AntiSemite EU know this. All they are doing now is stalling and giving more time for the Islamist-Jihadist Fanatics in Iran to complete their nukes. Israel must NOT be fooled by their crap.
8. Just because he says it doesn't mean it's news
Joe Sittizen ,   Jerusalem   (09.12.09)
The media gets sucked in again by Iranian propaganda. A country sitting on some of the world's largest oil reserves needs nuclear fuel for only one thing: weapons.
9. To: No. 5
Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (09.12.09)
Really? Iran ordered and took delivery of several centrifuges from North Korea. How does a centrifuge help you generate electricity to enable you to pump oil out of the ground ? That's right. It doesn't. I promise you.
10. if they use 'religion' as a reason, you know they're lying.

di   (09.12.09)
lies vis-a-vis the U.S. and the U.E., this will not be the case with Israel. Here in Israel there is not even one soul who can be cheated by this war-monger, criminal ayatollah regime. The Iranian regime must be demolished and their nuclear count-down stopped !!!
12. #9
(09.12.09)
The centrifuges enrich uranium used in power production, as used by Israeli and US generators, dear. The US has nuclear weapons, Israel has nuclear weapons, but Iran doesn't and won't........unless people like you continue to provoke it, dear. Oh, and imitation is the gratest form of flattery, so thank you Sarah!

15. ANOTHER PROXY WAR?
Frank-el ,   Detroit, USA   (09.12.09)
To those US based posters who advocate military strikes against Iran: please move to Israel and take your stupidity and dual loyalty with you. Americans don't want to fight another proxy war. Israel has become a strategic liabilty to the US. Israel is NOT "responsible"; if yes, then sign Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and allow inspections. Israel started the nuclear arms race in ME with stolen US secrets and fissile material and joint tests with apartheid SA regime. Iran should not have the bomb, nor should Israel, especially when IS government officials threaten the world with the Samson Option. Israeli's double standards and hypocrisy are finally being challenged. Oh...and I heard that your effete Bibi now likes vodka, having begged "Mishka" not to sell Iran weapons and reactors..maybe traded a few more stolen US secrets in return?
16. “Possession of nuclear weapons to be one of Iran’s top goals
Ron B. ,   Lod   (09.12.09)
Elimination of Israel remains a cornerstone of Islamic Republic ideology. Despite revisionist questioning about whether Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad really promised to “wipe Israel off the map,” both University of North Dakota law professor Gregory S. Gordon and Joshua Teitelbaum, senior research fellow at the Moshe Dayan Center at the University of Tel Aviv, have chronicled well over a dozen recent Iranian statements promising Israel’s destruction. As Teitelbaum notes, “What emerges from a comprehensive analysis of what Ahmadinejad actually said–and how it has been interpreted in Iran–is that the Iranian president was not just calling for ‘regime change’ in Jerusalem, but rather the actual physical destruction of the state of Israel.” THERE IS REASON TO TAKE THE WORST CASE SCENARIO SERIOUSLY. 17.  Vahidi: Iran has no desire to develop atomic bomb
R C ,   Rincon USA   (09.12.09)
What a slap to the face of the world. A suspected terrorist murderer now in the Iranian government. And to think that some people will actually believe , or appease this kind of people. What is wrong with this world?
18. #15:Funny!!
Arie ,   BaGolan   (09.12.09)
Funny how the islamonazis, whether in the Arab triangle of michigan, or eurabia come to an Israeli site to spew their quranic inspired venom. If you had bothered to listen to the comments by ahmadinejad and his N Korean allies, eurabia AND Hawaii are also being threatened. I do remember in the last N Korean test, your own Secy of Defense stated there is "nothing the US can do if they fire at Hawaii or the West Coast." Now, given your inherent anti-Semitism, I can understand how you envision Israel being the proxy over that! As for the NPT, the US is a signatory, as are several other States. Yet..there were never any independent audits of the US arsenal, or the French, or the islamobrit. "Samson Option?" Is that off one of your Aryan islamonazi web sites? I would love to see you post proof of that, or should we just take your word like another swede blood libel? As for Bib's meet in Russia, I guess the araboush in Detroit were so privy that you know what really transpired. Now, go put your hashish down and study up. Adolf will be testing you again on chapter 4 of your glorious Mein Kampf...AKA the quran!
19. Frankel #15
Brod ,   USA   (09.12.09)
You sound more like the typical Arab Islamist-Jihadists living in Detroit, spewing your anti-Israel crap. True Americans don't share your AntiSemitic venom. The fact is Americans have never fought for Israel. But Americans have shed their blood for Islamist-Jihadists. And this has to stop. America should pull all its troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. Let the dark forces fight among themselves. Because of all these stupid wars with Islamist-Jihadists, America's economy is in shambles. Young Americans must NEVER again waste their life fighting for Islamist-Jihadists. America must also stop pouring $700 billion petrodollars to the Islamist-Jihadist states in the Midde East annually, enriching the scoundrels and enabling them to continue supporting and financing the Taliban and Islamist-Jihadist terrorism around the world. America must be energy independent from Arab Islamist-Jihadist oil. This is the only way America can turn around its ailing economy that is hurting all Americans.
20. #15 Liberal poison
Good ,   FL, USA   (09.12.09)
Your comment is one of the most ridiculous ever. Just like many other liberals, you forget that you can thank the freedom you have and the fact that you don’t speak German, Japanese or Russian to the nukes that the US possesses. Israel has the right to defend itself by any means available to her against the people that promised her destruction just like the US. Because of liberals like you people are losing grasp of reality and bring us to the brink of destruction by promoting the agenda of murderous, blood thirsty scum-bags while making villains out of heroes. Israel is standing alone against 22 fanatic regimes that would like nothing better than annihilating this country and her citizens and they should not be allowed to possess nuke technologies. If you think that the “Samson option” (if true) is bad, wait until Iran and other Islamic, terrorist nations who possess nukes will start making their demands on the US. At this time be ready to face east, prey to Allah and kiss you freedom goodbye.
21. To: No. 12
Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (09.12.09)
Okay, one more time for benefit of the weak-minded. The most efficient types of nuclear reactors for purposes of generating electrical power are: - Graphite moderated reactor (these can be gas-cooled or water-cooled) - Rapid neutron reactor - Heavy water reactor - Pressurized water reactor - Boiling water reactor But Iran has chosen not to build any of those types of electricity-generating reactor. No. They have chosen to build liquid metal fast breeder reactors, which are rather inefficient for producing electricity. What breeder reactors can do, however, is produce heat to run the reactor while at the same time breeding enriched plutonium fuel. Weapons grade fuel. For anyone to suggest that Iran's nuclear ambitions are exclusively peaceful is patently ridiculous. We know they ordered and took delivery of centrifuges, which are not a necessary complement to anything but a breeder reactor. Of course, the centrifuges don't work because the embargo imposed against Iran includes high-tensile steel, which is needed to make the screws for the centrifuges -- nothing else will work. But that is neither here nor there -- the fact is that Iran is building reactors that have a very specific purpose, and that purpose is hardly peaceful. Iran is teetering on the edge of disaster. Unemployment -- especially among the disaffected youth -- is nearing 25%. Iran's economy is in shambles; its social structure is old and outdated and, quite frankly, the people are in revolt. We saw this during the election, but it has not stopped. And it will only get worse. Iran, and the crazy mullahs who run the Islamic Republic, are desperate for a way to deflect the attention of the people on something other than Iran's critical condition. Doing something against Israel is therefore seen by them as an opportunity to good to pass up. I do not necessarily believe it would work, but the Iranian leadership clearly does (much to their peril, I might add). Iran has urged its terrorist proxies -- Hamas and Hizbollah -- to act against Israel, hoping desperately that Israel's attention will be diverted from the Islamic Republic. It won't. No one's attention is diverted. Iran (and the other great rogue state, North Korea) constitute the most serious threats to world stability today. They have to be stopped. Blissfully, North Korea is someone else's problem, but Iran is Israel's problem, particularly given the belligerent rhetoric which has emanated from Tehran for the past 30 years. I assure you that Israel takes very seriously threats to its continued existence coming from a country a scant 2500 kilometers away. Iran will be stopped. One or another way. And the true victors once this has been accomplished will be the Iranian people, who have been cruelly used for the last thirty years.

Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (09.12.09)
So, did you and the boys from the mosque have a grand old time yesterday celebrating September 11? I'm betting you did. By the way, permit to remind you that Israel has been a member of the nuclear club since the 1960s, and despite wars and much Arab terror, has yet to use anything but conventional warfare. Nor have they used chemical or biological warfare (which Iraq has, for example). On the other hand, the rhetoric coming from Tehran -- all that talk about destroying the "Zionist entity" (Israel) and exterminating the Jewish people -- has been virtually non-stop. Given the rhetoric, Iran will simply not be permitted to achieve nuclear status. To address another one of your rather silly points: American Jews are not troubled by issues such as ":dual loyalty." Israel and American interests interweave quite nicely. Whether Obama realized this at first or not, he seems to have come to his senses. Israel is the only real and dependable ally that the United States has in the Middle East. Israel took care of Iraq's budding nuclear ambitions in 1981 -- would have been quite a different Gulf War in 1991 had they not, wouldn't you agree? So, Frankie-el -- study a little, learn a little history and develop a little maturity. You should not post here unless and until you do -- unless, that is, you like having your arguments turned into mincemeat.

24. American Taqqiyah
ben Ish   (09.12.09)
I told you yesterday that the Iranian proposals WOULD be accepted, and thereby invalidate the September "deadline." Not included in this story is the other statement by Crowley: (Exactly as I said would happen) "We're going to assess where we are during the course of this month. Then at the end of the year, we'll be able to draw some conclusions as to how successful our engagement offer has been." "END OF THE YEAR" Got it???? Like I said. I told you so. Etc. Stop eating the disinfo that makes you think the West disaproves of Iran and wants to stop them. THEY DO NOT. They absolutely WANT an Iranian attack, and only release stories to make you think they are simply inept and stupidly getting conned by delays. US and Iran work together to pacify the public, while the IMF etc., patiently wait for Iran to vaporize Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. By their fruits you shall know them. Actions speak louder than words. Follow the money.

NukeAlert   (09.12.09)
Yes you are correct about the types of reactors, as you say. However, there is also an argument for cost, as the heavy water reactor is also cheapest to build. Also, as far as weapons go, it is also not so difficult to extract material from a light water reactor. There is a large disinformation about light water reactors being "safe" for proliferation, but it simply not true. The only really 'safe' option is Pebble-Bed. A better question would be around the size of the Natanz facility, or enrichment grade of the tails Iran is leaving. How about the mid-flight detonations of MRBM tests? These are consistent with an airburst, not an impact test. I think you did your homework on reactors, but I'm just saying there is more direct evidence than that.
26. Vahidi knows nothing!
Rita ,   Israel   (09.13.09)
Listen to your supremo Khomeini Saied, "One bomb on Tel-Aviv; millions of Jews will be killed. Israel will retaliate may be they will kill two millions of us, but it doesn't matter much because we shall directly go to the heaven... blah... blah...blah" What about that? He is talking about killing and dying! Can he be a saint? That every one of the Iranians are worshiping? Is he worth?
27. To: No. 25

Thank you. Bottom line: Is Iran building reactors for exclusively peaceful purposes, or is their goal the acquisition of weapons-grade fissile material?

29. TEDIOUS, HATEFUL PEOPLE
Frank-el ,   Detroit USA   (09.13.09)
What is wrong with you people? Had too much "existential threat" today for breakfast? Your hateful and ill-informed replies regarding Israeli official's comments and policies illustrate your blind hatred and seething arrogance. Not to defend myself against your pathetic and reflexive drivel, but rather to set the record straight, I am a Christian who is very American. This means I consider US interests first and foremost and don't automatically assume they "intertwine" with Israel. Make fun of me again but I have prayed at Dachau for the victims and at the Western Wall for all of you; I was on the ship behind the Achille Lauro during the hijacking; I volunteered for 9/11 response analyzing data from the WTC pile and I was even voted the student rep at a Jewish hospital, so don't give me this Pavlovian "anti-semite", "nazi", "Islamo-blah-blah" crap. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I visit Y-Net to get all sides of the story or are you saying that only people who agree with you can post? Go ahead and flame me again with your weak platitudes but I will continue to apply a single standard to all. By the way, for those who can't read, I said I didn't want Iran (or Israel) to have the bomb. Last, I attended a 9/11 memorial yesterday so I was not dancing in the streets, unlike your Mossad friends on 9/11 in NJ (maybe they had kidney stones and were waiting for some transplants?).
30. HITLER HAD NO DESIRE TO MURDER 6 MILLION JEWS DID HE?
zionist forever   (09.13.09)
" We regard production of weapons of mass destruction as contary to our religious, human and national principles " Iran used WMDS against Iraq in the 80s & today Iran has possibly the largest chemical weapons programs in the Middle East. So if they don't believe in WMDS so much why do they have them and why have they used them in the past? Iran wants to be a regional superpower and you don't become a supwepower with Photoshop & speeches about super weapons that they have developed. What has never been on their agenda has been to tell the world the truth about their agenda for developing nuclear weapons.
