Jordan can't even provide jobs and feed its people and it wants to waste money on nukes? Gates the AntiSemite seems obsessed with AntiSemitism to provide nuke to Islamist-Jihadist states in the region with the sole purpose of threatening and annihilating Israel. Israel should tell Gates to stop his nonsense. And they should not allow Gates to enter Israel. If Gates has some brain, he should know that it is dangerous to supply Islamist-Jihadist states in the region or elsewhere with nukes unless he wants to see the region conflagrates.
2. The rulers of the Hashemite Kingdom are very vulnerable.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (09.12.09)
The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan will be the next victim of Hamas. 70 percent of its population are Palestinians, and the significant majority in Parliament are already Islamists. The rulers of the Hashemite Kingdom are very vulnerable. If Hamas gets the West Bank, Jordan can easily be swallowed by the blood- thirsty predator. The result of this will be the creation of a huge Palestinian formation on both banks of the Jordan river which will get in contact with Sunni Arabs in the east of Iraq and the cradle of Wahhabism – Saudi Arabia. tali   (09.12.09)
thats for sure, and the the exact number is more than 70%, abut 90% is of palestinian background in jordan. queen rania is palestinian and so the future king of jordan is half palestnian. for israel to survive and be strong we need to let go judea and samaria but we must know that judea and samaria will build a cooperation with jordan and will work as one country.

Thank someone for a bunch of pathetic idiots running the United States. The Jews will pay the price for the stupid mistakes of the United States and the rest of the world. giving systems to create Nuclear Weapons to these smucks with oil in the Middle east.
5.  A Putsch,...Bomb the Reactor?
Roland Seener ,   London England   (09.12.09)
Any twisted mentality has the ability to follow the present Iranian desires and use this "Peaceful Material" to wipe Israel off the Map.Again ".It is time for Israel to have more than one Prime Minister !
6. Just WOW!
Thundercloud65 ,   Oklahoma City USA   (09.12.09)
You should educate yourself on countries before you type old chap. Jordan has been at peace with Israel for decades for one and isn't a Jihadist state by any means. Second, they are building a Nuclear power plant and not nuclear weapons. There is a very distinct difference. Third, they are doing so because their economy is developing quite well and they are an energy poor nation. Not every nation in the ME has oil. Fourth, by what stretch of the imagination is Mr Gates "anti-semitic?" Lastly, Mr Gates is in charge of Defense and not energy policy. Put the bottle down and Google more.

8. No Nukes Is Good News
emanon ,   USA   (09.13.09)
Any nukes is bad news. There is no such thing as safe nuclear energy . . . ANYWHERE! The byproduct of all nuclear energy programs is nuclear weapons. There is no safe way to store the nuclear waste and it is too easy to convert reactor fuel to weapons grade material. I wish all the nuclear reactors that HAVE been built could be dismantled, but, again, what do you do with the fuel? There is no where to store it safely.
9. Israel will keep burning coal having pollution & blackouts
StopLaughingAtArabs ,   Israel   (09.13.09)
Welcome to the cutting-edge technology of the only democracy in the ME: * Most power plants burn coal. * Some burn diesel, i.e. Haifa (just like in Gaza) * Very few use natural gas that doesn't pollute * Public transportation accounts to 1% of traveling * Plants that pollute for decades don't get closed and their managers not prosecuted (Atlit Carmen Chemicals plant) Now Jordan and Egypt will have nuclear power plants because their governments want the best for their people. Our government is merely surviving, no time for such big plans as a nuclear power plant. FYI: I'm a right-wing Jew, but let's have some perspective p.s. You can feed a nuclear power plant with imported fuel that you can't use to make a nuke.
10. Done to thwart 'Jordan is Palestine' policies..
daud.   (09.13.09)
This is a jab in the eye of any Israeli govt who wants to promote Jordan is Palestine. After all, who wants to set up a Palestine on the East Bank if there is a nuke plant they can take over.. like the greenhouses they took over from Israel in Gaza. And we all know how well they handled those....
11. The last thing we need is nuclear power
JPS ,   Efrat   (09.13.09)
How one nuke power plant in Jordan to supply 30 percent of their power and is going to turn them into an energy exporter sounds bizarre. Where is the other 70 percent going to come from, and how the heck will they afford to export juice? With ample wind and sun, the billions it will cost to build a nuke plant and the known cost overruns and technical problems leave me scratching my head. This sounds more like a successful lobbying effort from an American government that wants to give export contracts to American power companies. It doesn't sound like a viable solution for Jordan. And, #9, pick up a newspaper, will ya? Israel has new large natural gas reserves it is developing and will be switching to gas power in the coming years.
