1. NO to freezing
Brod ,   USA   (09.19.09)
NO to freezing. And NO to ethnic cleansing of Jews living in their own liberated historic homeland of Judea and Samaria. Israel should say NO to the world of AntiSemites and Islamist-Jihadists led by Satan that wants to usurp the Land of Israel.
2. #1 This is not your land, you're a squatter..

Why should the world care what you build on your property ,that was earned with your Blood Sweat and Tears, you are obligated to nobody except your citizens
5. Chancellor Merkel
Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (09.19.09)
is perfectly to freeze construction anywhere in the Federal Republic at any time. Blissfully, she has no control over what happens in the State of Israel. She would do well to remember this. She would also do well to remember that Germany has one function and one function only when it comes to Israel -- the art of being extraordinarily deferential. Jews and Germany have a rather sad history. Germany will never, ever erase the stain. Merkel needs to keep that in mind, too. Step softly, Chancellor Merkel. Sixty-five years is not all that long ago. Step softly.
6. She is right!
Neo ,   Canada   (09.19.09)
There will be no peace between Israelis and Palestinian if they dont get their own state. And they cant get their own state if the israelis dont stop spread and settle. The Palestinian have been there first, so its kind of their ground. They need space too, not only the israelis! The USA, Canada and the EU agreed about this fact! @ynet This pic of the german chancellor is really not very gainful! Accident or calculation?
7. #2, 3 Usurpers and Squatters
Brod ,   USA   (09.19.09)
You sound more like the Islamist-Jihadist usurper and squatter manipulating the world to help you usurp the Land of Israel from the Jews. Your historic homeland is Arabia.

Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (09.19.09)
Excuse me? Israel is not the land of the Jews? Hello. Go back and take some history classes. You are severely deluded. Six wars. Sixty-one years of unrelenting terror. Sorry, bud. You lose. Go away. We are heartily sick and tired of your FALSE claims to a land upon which you are nothing more than unwanted squatters. Say bye-bye. Won't be long now, until we ship your miserable carcasses off to Arabia, where you belong.

That's okay. I can live without an independent Palestinian state. They never had a claim to the land. They have acted dismally over the past sixty-one years -- what with resorting to war (six of them, actually) and terror. They need to disappear from the world stage. Unless, of course, you wish to take them into underpopulated Canada. Hey! There's a thought! If you disagree -- well, shut up. No one asked you for your opinion anywayy. Canada doesn't matter. Haven't you figured that out yet? Oh -- and by the way -- why isn't Canada officially a bilingual country? They speak French in Quebec, don't they? I REALLY hate it when countries with skeletons in their closets by the million fold try to tell Israel what to do. SIGH.
11. "Freeze" Jewish constraction for being Jewish, and this in
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (09.19.09)
an area that is in DISPUTE amounts to, well, how shall we call it...??
12. Let's clear up a few items re Canada:
Robert Haymond ,   Israel&Canada   (09.19.09)
The Canadian government has never agreed that Israel is the homeland of the Palestinians and that they were "there first". Our prime minister, Stephen Harper, is also very aware of the threat of Islam, respects and recognizes the importance of Israeli Jews as a force which both deters militant Islam and acts as a "canary in the coal mine". I was very proud that ours was the first nation (after Israel, of course) to walk out on Durban II. Not only Mr. Harper but the leader of the opposition (Mr. Ignatieff) also supported the pull-out. As to language, Sarah, just as a point of clarity, both French and English are official languages in Canada just as Arabic and Hebrew are in Israel. Our great shame was in our sad treatment of Canada's Native people. This has improved considerably and Mr. Harper even made an official apology about our treatment and this has gone a long way towards healing the miserable condition of the First Nation's People.
13. No doubt sister Merkel is getting to big for her Britches.
Roy C Hudson ,   Pittsburg USA   (09.19.09)
Lit. & other wise. The History of Germany is in the books.is there no shame left in the world. who wants the PLO in your back yard. ?? I see no hands up among the sane (!!!) Roy C Hudson USA
14. Stop stealing land, Israel!
Akmar   (09.20.09)
Stop your thievery of the Palestinian land! Settlements are illegal according to international law which means you guys need to get out of the West Bank, now! Also, lol at the people who compare settling in your own country to settling in land that is not apart of your country. Last but not least, why are people using the "historic homeland" defense? Do you not know how long ago was that? Thousands of years ago. But guess what? This is the 21st century! Your ancient claims do not apply in the modern world.
15. Conflict situations.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (09.20.09)
Peace was never achieved through concessions and demonstrations of flexibility – never In conflict situations, it has first of all been necessary to demonstrate resolve, and only afterwards to sit down at the negotiating table -- but not in the wake of concessions. When one makes unilateral concessions, the adversary realizes that he's succeeding. So if he is successful, he will continue doing more of the same. More at : http://xrl.us/bfe5xc

Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (09.20.09)
Thievery of Palestinian land? Are you nuts, or just completely crazy? There has NEVER been a country called Palestine. There HAVE been many interlopers squatting on JEWISH land. Please keep that in your very dim mind. Historic homeland claims are not a "defense." They are a fact. Whether you like it or not. You are illegally squatting on Jewish land. And you will have to go. And you will. Sayonara, @$$hole. Have a really nice time in Arabia ---- where you belong.
17. To: Robert at No. 12
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (09.20.09)
Fair enough, Robert, and thank you for the clarification. I'm still learning about Canada, friendly neighbor to the north. Actually, we just brought our son David up to McGill, where he is starting his freshman year. What I did notice is that when my Jewish star is tucked inside my blouse, the Quebecois are very friendly and helpful and nice. When my Jewish star is visible, they are not so friendly and helpful and nice. Oh well. C'est la vie, I guess.

19. Akmar #16 The Land of Israel
Brod ,   USA   (09.20.09)
Stop spewing your Islamist-Jihadist crap. The fact is the Land of Israel belongs to the Jews since ancient time. Israel's liberated historic homeland of Judea and Samaria is part of the Land of Israel. The Land of Israel is GOD-GIVEN and GOD-RESTORED to the Jews. Read Genesis, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Amos. Just as Spain did in liberating its historic homeland from the Islamist-Jihadist occupiers in the Medieval, Israel liberated its historic homeland from the Islamist-Jihadist occupiers in the 20th century. It is time the Islamist-Jihadist world stops usurping the Land of Israel from the Jews. The Islamist-Jihadists should return to their historic homeland in Arabia.
20. #14 stealing land
another sarah ,   jerusalem Israel   (09.20.09)
1. apart from the "historic homeland" argument, the Jewish state was promised by binding treaty per International law in 1923 and at that time included what is now called the West Bank and Gaza. 2. If "historic homeland" isn't a defense, then why do the Palestinians, itinerant Arabs through the former Turkish empire for centuries, now invoke that argument? Many of the Arabs now described as "Palestinians" are not native to this area either, being Moslems who migrated in from Amman, Bosnia, Algeria, Iraq, Cherkassy and after 1948, were "setttled" in the West Bank by the illegal occupying power and Jordan. 3. settlements of other sovereign nations' land is illegal---which is exactly the point. Israelis are settling on land that is either former Crown Land not beloning to any sovereign Palestinian nation but having been taken from Jordan in a war of aggression which Jordan started OR are reclaiming land which Jews bought and paid for and have lived in for years (the Old City, Safed, Kfar Etzion, etc.) This is NOT illegal under international law as the land, absent a peace treaty, has disputed status rather than sovereign status.
