This excellent article makes one error: Chavez is becoming a threat to the US similar to Iran. Iranian and Hezbullah activities in Latin America are facilitated by Chavez. Venezuela is loaded with uranium. Just like Iran, Chavez regime is a client of Russia supplying it with weapons and using it as another path to threatening the strategic rear of the US; the Castro regime and the Communist Chinese presence in the Canal being the other two.

What it boils down to is that Zelaya was getting chummy with Chavez, and Chavez is too chummy with the Holocaust denier as it is. Hence, Israeli discomfort. It is debatable whether Micheletti's installation was constitutional, certainly not democratic. Zelaya was the duly elected president and Micheletti was shoed-in by the military who drove Zelaya in his PJ's to the US airbase & flew him to Costa Rica. Obama respects democracy and human rights ten times more than Bush. Both Zelaya & Micheletti have drawbacks. Supporting a militarily imposed leader in the Americas is ultimately the biggest drawback.
