Mainstream Israel is not getting poorer and most Israel have not only food on their tables, but modern housing, cars, vcrs and mobile phones etc. Increasing number of Israel travel abroad. Stop whining, get a proper education and WORK, WORK and WORK and you will be fine. This applies especially to Arabs and Haredi men who have a disproportionally grown accustomed to handouts that constitute a huge burden for our society.

That is why we have so many legal and illegal workers. They think such work is below the "dignity". Stop the child allowance to those that never served in the I.D.F. They will keep on having more children to get more money. Raise the minimum wage and go after companies that do not follow labor laws. need to report those families in which children are not getting their basic needs - ample food, clothing, etc. There are many NGO's that could and hopefully would step in and offer a helping hand. A child should not have to look for food in a dumpster.

The report neglects to show the relationship between poverty and family size. It also neglects to show the similarity of poverty rates between large charedi and Arab families with only one parent working. When/if only one parent works (usually the woman among charedim, and the man among Arab citizens) and there are upwards of 6 children, there is likely to be poverty. Child benefit should only be paid for up to three children. This will lighten the taxation load on the financially productive sectors of the population, while discouraging the non-productive ones from excessive procreation, thus reducing poverty all round.
