It's as if the Moors never left Spain. It's a shame about Europe, really. I suppose that's what happens when you kill off/run off all your Jews. Just another 3rd rate country on a second rate continent.
2. From the land that brought you the Inquisition

3. Tell Spain to get all these jerkoffs out of
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (09.22.09)
South America and North America then. They have stolen South America and a good portion of North America from the indigenous Indians. Like they have a leg to stand on. They committed the same atrocities they want to label on Jews, who just so happen to be in their country, which was stolen from them by muslims. Lest we all conveniently forget the circumstances of the Jews being expelled in the first place.
4. Afraid of competition?
R   (09.22.09)
1) Looks like the Spanish government is afraid of real competition. 2) Maybe some countries will bar Spain from other events on account of the barbaric custom to kill bulls for sport.
5. While "upholding" Intl agreement, breaks Intl law
William ,   Israel   (09.22.09)
UNR242 clearly states that the land is indeed NOT occupied, but disputed. I knew Arabs were against the ruling so they re-worded the resolution to fit their own arguments - but I never dreamed that the UN would cave in and ignore their own resolutions. I imagine that when the authors of UNR242 publicly stated their full intent was to label the WB and Gaza as "disputed", several times, that they had no idea it would be against their own employers.
6. Will Spain get out of occupied Basque land?
John Phee ,   Sydney, AUSTRALIA   (09.22.09)
7. Boycott Spain
J K ,   NYC, USA   (09.22.09)
After all, they are occupying the lands belonging to the original inhabitants, the Basques, the true people of Iberia. Hypocrites!
8. From one arhcitect to another..
Eric ,   Brooklyn, New York   (09.22.09)
It is disgusting that due to misinformation a team of academics that has absolutely nothing to do with politics be disqualified from a design competition. 'The Architects and Planners for Justice in Palestine' website and the article referring to the above occurrence are grossly misleading and riddled with inaccuracies. Israel is one of the leaders in solar technology and it will continue to be a leader in environmentally friendly progress and technological progress whether people choose to recognize it or not. - Pratt Institute Architecture Student
9. When will we boycott Spain for Occupying Basque Land???
Michelle   (09.22.09)
B"H They should talk! They REALLY ARE occupying land that isn't theirs. The Basque homeland has been occupied by France and Spain for centuries--taking the land of people who can PROVE they were there since the beginning of humanity. The Basque Language is unlike any other language, the Basque people have their own traditions and culture--not like these arabs who claim they were here but have no anthropological proof of their supposed existence here before 1948.
10. Fortunately ....
Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (09.22.09)
Spain hasn't mattered on the world stage since 1492. Oooh .... isn't that the year they expelled all the Jews? Those they didn't murder, that is.
11. Jews worldwide should boycott Spanish goods immediately@!
avi esfandi ,   los angeles, usa   (09.22.09)
I'm just no so sure if they actually produce anything besides pork....hmmm......
12. Andalusia is occupied land, HYPOCRITES!
Forced Convert ,   Al-Andalus, Spain   (09.22.09)
13. The Spaniards kicked out the Jews in 1492
Frank ,   USA   (09.22.09)
The roque, vile nations be that Germany, Sweden, France or Spain do not change. They only alter their methods to the current times. Their hatred of Jews is deeply ingrained in their DNA/ Therefore, it is not possible to change them. The vile European nations think that all of a sudden they discovered morality and they want to teach it to the Jews. These are the nations that colonized and exterminated and yet they think that they have been transformed. Had they been transformed they would have reacted to brutality and hatred that has been perpetrated by the 22 Arab dictatorships. However. despite all Arab crimes the boycotts and criticism is only directed at Jewish Israel.
14. Spain
Barney ,   USA   (09.22.09)
the same country that did an about face on foreign policy after a few radical muslimes blew up their trains. can you say yellow in spanish
15. Problem is Arabs students 5% and should be 50%
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, USA   (09.22.09)
For a college that is in the middle of the W. Bank there should be half Arabs students since less than 10% of population is Jewish. Based sololy on population 92% of students should be Arabs not 5% but 50% would be least fair.
16. Bad management
JJ ,   Den Haag, NL   (09.22.09)
Were this Israeli uni located in Israel, things would look differently. Building on occupied land is illegal, which implies that the effort of the students to compete in an international context is wasted. Not Spain, but bad management is to blame.
17. Spain can't be serious. Sue them for discrimination
David ,   Switzerland   (09.22.09)
18. Ariel university isnt the looser its the world
zionist forever   (09.22.09)
Who knows what Ariel university may have come up with as their final entry. It may have been something that could have ended up one day as mainstream technology that could be adopted for general use benefiting alot of ordinary people. Academic boycotts don't encourage governments to change their policies but they do hurt science and learning and if these BNC people are going to keep up their boycott until the arabs get a right of return then this boycott is probably going to never end.
19. Their loss.
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (09.22.09)
If Spain wants to show the world how it denies academic freedom in order to competes well in the dhimmi contest with Sweden, Norway, and Britain - let them. One small step for Muslims, one giant defeat for Spain.
20. Prof. Pascal Rollet - Chapeau!
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (09.22.09)
This is a very noble gesture on your part. Merci beaucoup.

27. 21 , Robert
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.22.09)
Why should other univs retire ? now they have a chance to win
28. #16, JJ, your bad mind is to blame
i   (09.22.09)
because were the Arabs not in a hurry to steal (in the 1960s) the Latin name given to Jews living in the Middle East and wrongfully and willfully use it for themselves, they wouldn't have had this huge mess-up in their minds and yours. They might have returned to their Arab lands outside Israel (Palestine) and might have enjoyed the "liberty" and "welfare" of their original countries. Now, a number of European ultra-leftist regimes are also messed-up by their Arab brethern, so much so that they cannot make the simplest difference between Israeli(Palestinian) land and Arab terrorist wanderers. Ariel, don't worry, it takes bad governments to refuse great things.
29. the failure is 100% Israel's
Arn ,   Yehud, Israel   (09.22.09)
Why is it that Israel keep the facts supporting her presence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem hidden. All of the West Bank was illegally taken by Jordan and attached to TransJordan in 1948. With the exception of England not a single country... not a single member of the UN (including Spain) recognized this territory as Jordan's. Which is why it was so easy for Jordan to relinquish this territory at the end the 6 Day War. BUT IT WAS NEVER HERS TO GIVE AWAY! The Palestinians never had recognized and legitimate license to this land. All talk about the West Bank being occupied territory today was never described that way when Jordan's Arab Legions ruled there. The hypocrisy of the UN is nothing new. But Israel's unfortunate silence in this regard points to the abject incompetence of her leaders. Don't blame Spain when the failure is ours.
