Iran does not impress as a peaceful country. The leadership recently "re-elected" are tainted. The history of this regime - its foul treatment of minorities is not debatable. They are disgrace. For once, I do agree with you knowing how the Iranians play their cards.Obviously,having to face such harsh threats and presence of American troops on both the sides of the country,they have to remain prepared more solidly than what we tend to read in the press.

The idea of air strikes carried out by the US or Israel will remain unthinkable. He would rather they got a nuke and they used diplomacy to talk them into giving it up than use violence to stop them getting it. The US could destroy not just their nuclear sites, chemical weapons production facilities, missile production factories, a large part of their air force and navy. All could be done within a couple of weeks of air strikes. Israel might be able to take out some of their nuclear sites which would at least out their nuclear program back years giving the diplomats time to play more games or even carry out ir strikes of their own to destroy the program once and for all If Obama wants to be a responsible president he will order air strikes or at the very least stop holding Israel back. The only reason Israel has done nothing so far is not lack of plans but they are not getting permission from the US. If Iran get nukes Obama will be remembered as the president who could have stopped it but prefered to play games with Iran while he went around trying to disarm all existing respsonsible nuclear powers.

Iran has signed the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty which prohibits them from developing, buying or possesing nuclear weapons. The Shah chose to sign that treaty and unless they choose to withdrawl which will prohibit countries from selling therm certain technologies then they cannot have nukes. Israel has legally chosen not to sign the treaty as has India & muslim Pakistan. ALMOST DAILY THREATS MADE AGAINST THEM BY ISRAELS RIGHT WING EXTREMISTS.
