1. Not allowed
Seth   (09.28.09)
Why are we still not allowed to visit this central place in our history? I think it is time we open access to this area to the people. Blocking access based on religion or nationality is against our rule of law in Israel. You see people of all faiths, including Islam, at the Kotel and Church of the Sepulcher, yet only Muslims in the Temple Mount, a place not even listed once in their history?
2. 3rd, eh?
Really? ,   Jerusalem   (09.28.09)
Wow...the Arabs are allowed to have free range on the THIRD holiest sight in their religion, but Jews get stones and chairs thrown at us if we try to visit the MOST holy sight in Judaism. Something seems wrong here....
3. So you get pissed when Jews go to pray?
not a rascist ,   TA Israel   (09.28.09)
So Palestinians start a riot when Jews or foreigners go to pray? Sounds a little bit rascist to me. Then again what do I know, I'm a Jew. I've only been persecuted for trying to pray for oh the last 4000 years so clearly I have no idea what I'm talking about right?
4. Stupidity in the name of Islam
Ben ,   Monroe USA   (09.28.09)
Erekat will say anything to prove his desire for continuous conflict. Just as long as his tuchus is safe, he is most eager to stir up the pot. He is typical of all the Arab leadership. You kill yourself in the name of Islam. I'll give your mother a few shekels as a payoff.
5. The Temple Mount has only political meaning to Arabs
Paul ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (09.28.09)
The Arabs only want the Temple Mount because it's meaningful to Jews. The placement of the their mosques on the Temple Mount is intended to display Islamic superiority over Judaism. It time to rid the Mount of it's instigators and return Jewish sovereignty to the Mount at any cost.
6. Release the full video
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (09.28.09)
If there is video showing the police and that they did not enter the mosque then show us the visitors/tourists/religious Jews/or what ever they were so we can tell. If they were checked for religious articles then they would not have Kippot or anything else that would mark them as religious and then the Palestinian reaction would have been unprovoked and excessive. Show the video and let the world decide.
7. If the site is holy to both religions, then BOTH religions
usa   (09.28.09)
should have the right to pray there. People like Erekat are always the first to complain about discrimination, yet are the first to justify it if it suits their agenda. The site will cease to be a provocation when it is open to ALL for the purposes of free exercise of religion. That is the only fair way to deal with the situation.
8. one day these rock throwing Imans will....
Galut ,   Selah   (09.28.09)
Be standing in front of the messiah giving account for thier words and misdeeds ... God is the owner of the site not muslims ......
9. Temple Mount
Ricardo Macher ,   KarneiShomron Israel   (09.28.09)
The Temple Mount is in Jerusalem, Jerusalem is in Israel, so we have thr right to visit there as much as we want, if Erekat or any other lousy arab politician doesn't like it it's a pity!!!!

observer   (09.28.09)
The Jews do not allow any Muslim below age of 45 to pray in the Mosque of al Aqsa, they do not allow Christians of Bethlehem to celebrate Easter in Jerusalem and do not allow Christians of Jerusalem to celebrate Christmas in Bethlehem.
11. Initiative should include temple to assure Isaels acceptance
Bill Staar ,   Chicago USA   (09.28.09)
Would Israel accept the Saudi peace plan if it included the rebuilding of the temple? I think so, Israel will not be complete until the temple is rebuilt. We are all aware of the emotions behind such and endeavor, any action on Israel's part to do this, would cause riots throughout the Arab world, so the Saudi's need to talk to whoever they need to talk to, to get this rebuild in their plan to the point where they fund and initiate the construction as a gift from the Musilim world to the Israeli's as a peace offering to seal the deal.
12. The PLO havn't got their terroist hands in Jerusalem yet
zionist forever   (09.28.09)
Untill they do it will remain Israels undivided eternal capital where it will enforce the law the way it sees fit and make the laws on what is or is notr permitted. If Erekat is looking for a city to call capital & judge what goes on then he has Rammalah.
13. Sharon's visit did not trigger uprising
shmuel ,   washington dc   (09.29.09)
The uprising started before Sharon visited the Temple Mount, and was planned long before he went there. Why does an Israeli newspaper repeat a narrative which is not correct, and fed by Arab propagandists. Israel is not perfect. We just went through Yom Kippur, repenting for our imperfections. But, regardless of what Erakat thinks or says, triggering the latest Intifada was not one of our failings

To be expected. Why let truth get in your way? 1. At times Israel doesn't allow Muslims below 45 to pray on the Temple Mount because there are alerts to possible riots etc. AND these are usually done by younger people. Learn to control yourself and those under 45 and you'll all be allowed. 2. Christians have free access to Bethlehem. In fact, Israel bends over backwards to allow Christians from all over the world to go there for Easter and Christmas!!
15. Erekat
Ellen ,   Israel/USA   (09.29.09)
Erekat is forgetting that the Temple Mount WAS holy to Jews before it had any significance to Moslims. HE wants full access to every place but wants to deny others the same. The story re: Sharon is a bunch of bull! The Arabs were ready looking for an excuse to riot. The stones were stockpiled. If Sharon hadn't gone up, they would have found another reason. Moshe Dayan made the biggest mistake in the world when he told the WAKF that he could have a say in running the area. It should be 100% run by Israel and then all would have access! ( including Moslems) Hey--if in 67 Israel did what the Moslems did to Jerusalem in 48, the Mosque and the Dome of the Rock would be rubble today! Now talk about who has respect for others!

Worry not the Tanach say ALL nations will come up yearly to Jerusalem to worship the Lord after the messiah comes....

1) All arabs can go play at the mosque although at certain times the tensions are high then sometimes ( not always only older men more mature men who are less likely to make problems can go or numbers restricted. Its not the standard everyday policy its based on circumstance. Since the intefada the government has imposed restrictions on Israeli jews wishing to to Temple Mount ( the holiest place in the world to jews not the Western Wall ) for a visit. In 1967 the newly united Jerusalem was supposed to be freedom of worship and movement to everybody regardless of faith or nationality but since oslo all thats changed and travel & worship has become much more of a political issue especially since Barak and then Olmert & Livni decided they wanted to divide the city. 2) Christians can go to Bethlehem its just not such a simple matter because Bethlehem is controled by the PA not Israel and there is more restrictions placed on Israelis because of politics. There are no laws though that say no Israeli may go to Bethlehem at Christmas or Easter. Worst thing that ever happened to Israel was the peace process its brought restrictions of movement and violence nothing worthwhile.

What absolute nonsense. Christians from all over the work go to Jerusalem for Easter and Christmas. I know ... ive been. Stop the propaganda.

Hadassah ,   Jeruslaem, Isarel   (09.29.09)
Wrong... the Arab Christians of Jerusalem are able to go to Bethlehem at Christmas. They register with the Church they attend letting them know they want to go and then are allowed to Bethlehem.
20. The Jews did nothing wrong
Julie ,   USA   (09.29.09)
and as always Arab intollerence and violence caused all the problems. They get violent and then they have to blame others. Arab violence to any Jewish presence is not justifiable behavior. Period.
21. How many rocks were thrown by the israeli group?
Galut ,   Selah   (09.30.09)
how many were thown by islamist? did israeli police respond before or after the rocks were thrown? if I were the one granting the right to the mount.... the most peaceful would have it hands down ! so far islam has shown its true colors....how say you?
22. #10 Not Heard of Christians' Restriction
Christy ,   Boston, US   (09.30.09)
Quote "Jews do not ..allow Christians of Bethlehem to celebrate Easter in Jerusalem and do not allow Christians of Jerusalem to celebrate Christmas in Bethlehem." This is contrary to Christians I know who HAVE celebrated Easter and Christmas there. Nobody reported any harassment by the Jews as they went about their holiday celebrations. Jews certainly did NOT prevent the Christians from celebrating Christmas in Bethlehem nor were they prevented from celebrating Easter in Jerusalem.
