31. Can this really be Eretz Yisrael??
Baruch ,   Boston, USA   (10.01.09)
It's sad that the home of the Jews, Eretz Yisrael, can not be the home for all Jews. All the stereotypical comments here against so-called "haredim" seem to unsupported by any statistics. How much of the money of other Israelis actually goes towards benefits for people who study Torah? Does anybody here really know? And how many of the people you see wearing black or sheitels are even Israelis who are taking your money or avoiding the military? A huge number come from other countries, especially the US, because they are drawn to the Jewish homeland as a place to study to be Jewish for a period of time, like Israelis who study in universities in the US. You should be happy. It's a Jewish dream to be able to be Jewish in a Jewish country and not the Germany of the Nazis or the Russia of the Czars. It's so depressing that so many people on these blogs, and many may be native Israelis, have forgotten why they live in Israel, and why Israel needs to exist. I know the attitudes I hear here are not universal, but based upon what I am reading, I think a Jew should start to fear being Jewish in the Jewish homeland. The real threat to our people seems not to be Iran or Hamas or Hezbollah, but our own Sinat Chinam. Very sad.
