1. If he is alive this must allow emotions to take over logic
zionist forever   (09.30.09)
I hope he is alive however unlikely but if he is we still cannot allow it to be used as leverage to make deals that are not responsible and 1000+ terrorists who include killers who would gladly kill again and high value assets like Bargouti is not an acceptable deal. The mastermind of the Park Hotel bombing in 2002 was released by Bibi himself during his first term as PM he was one of hundreds of prisisoners released under oslo either for deals done with Arafat or gestures. Release 1000 terrorists Gilad for just 1 man how many other Gilads are we going to have taken tommorow because its so profitable. They dug a tunnel into a base to take him, if they are willing to do that then I am sure they will attempt stanch & run attacks in future. Will the free Gilad at any price movement members be saying when its their son taken because we made it profitable to take soldiers or when there is another Park Hotel bomb because we released a killer for Shalit. Yes the government should try and get him back but there must be limits on the price its willing to pay. I am sick of Israel acting weak in front of its enemies when it comes to politics in either the name of the peace process or to get back a taken soldier. What good is an multi million dollar tank or plane if your going to turn all your victories to defeats in the name of politics and image?

7.  Netanyahu can talk the talk but cant walk the walk
Al   (09.30.09)
One week he shows he can blabber like the best of them..The next week he shows to be what he always was an empty suit worth very very little. Israel is cooked. To release murderers for nothing shows that the murdered are worth very very little. Shame on this government and all those who advocate this exchanges. I really wonder if your kids were murdered would you be so generous with these murderers.
8. Very well said #7
G   (09.30.09)
"To release murderers for nothing shows that the murdered are worth very very little. " How disappointing that Netanyahu decided to do this.
9. Get Gilad out of there!!!
Free Gilad Shalit ,   Israel   (09.30.09)

10. Shalit Video
Nili ,   Jerusalem   (09.30.09)
I thought that International humanitarian laws demand providing signs of life of prisoners without requiring any payment in exchange. So why is our government allowing this? It has been posted that these "women" have tried to kill Israelis and one helped Islamic Jihad find suicide bombers. Why is the UNHRW not demanding Proof of Life? What a bunch of crap!
11. To #1 - where do you live?

13. To #1 - where do you live?
joseph ,   miami   (09.30.09)
I ask this because clearly you don't live in Israel and clearly you have not served in the IDF and clearly ... you don't have a son serving in the IDF. I agree with you regarding the message sent to the terrorists and how acting 'weak' can encourage them to repeat their actions. (not that they need any more stimuli for doing this anyway..). However, I think it is the State's responsibility with each and every soldier to do whatever it takes to bring them home. I would certainly prefer a swift special op to storm the place, kill the terrorist and rescue Gilad... but perhaps the time for doing that was within the first few weeks of his kidnapping. It seems that right now, all things being equal, it's too late for that for many reasons that you and I don't know. So the only option left is to bring him back through negotiation. I would want to think that these dirty criminals will be injected with some venom that will kill them within a few weeks of their release... but we both know that this is unlikely. Despite what you hear in the UN, Israel values life over death and is willing to put on 'hold' the 'righteous treatment' of these terrorists in the hope of saving the life of a one kid that was serving to protect our country. May he return home and get over the trauma. May his captors and all the terrorists that will be released find their virgins soon in hell.
