5. Mayoral candidate
Danny ,   Jerusalem   (10.01.09)
It is a good thing we didn't elect him mayor of Jerusalem. Then we would have to ex-mayors in jail.
6. Making purchases on behalf of an un-named person happens
Rivkah   (10.01.09)
all the time because if people knew a billionaire wanted to buy their property, the price would go way up. When Los Angeles (the city) needed water long ago, they purchased water rights in Kern and other counties under assumed individuals' names to keep the price down. Now there is little farming in the areas where Los Angeles purchased the water rights because the ground water table is so low from being drained into Los Angeles by aquaduct systems created by a man named Mulholland decades ago. No one prosecuted Los Angeles officials or Mulholland. But in Israel, a billionaire comes from Russia and France and helps everyone he can and puts his money into a banking system, and then is attacked in every way possible by socialists who are jealous, perhaps. In regard to money laundering, people are charged with that if they carry cash to make purchases because that is a way to confiscate the cash and rob them. A truck driver was stopped in Louisiana and his several thousand dollars of cash reserves (his savings he carried with him) was confiscated along with his truck and he was accused of money laundering so the police could steal his cash. It took a long time to get his truck back and he never got the cash back. Imagine the theft of millions or billions from a philanthropist: that would make a lot of people who benefited happy. I would advise Mr. Gadaymak not to return to Israel if the Israeli justice system is as flawed and corrupt and unjust as the US government system. In America there is a 95 per cent conviction rate because of District Attorney frame machines and false witnesses. That beats out the Spanish Inquisition in the Middle Ages where there was only a 90 per cent conviction rate on corpses of Jews dug up to put them on trial to steal their property! When is the Messiah coming? The world and its governments are so corrupt. Black is called White and good is called bad and bad is called good.
7. What? Another Israeli/Russian Mafia Crook?

9. Rivkah, I am with you all the way!
Ginette Golden ,   Toronto, Canada   (10.02.09)
I don't know either when Messiah will come but I hope soon. As far as I know and was reading about Mr. Gaydamak, all he did was help Jews of Israel in need. I do think the World gets jealous when they see too much money being spread around. Avi, # 1, your talkback describes the very reason I am reluctant to make aliyah. I don't wish to lean on anyone in my old age but myself and I have heard that same story before, so it makes me think.
10. money laundering
colin   (10.02.09)
Another lieing scoop for the media in Israel Any successful person according to the press is a thief, fraud, moneylaundering cheat. The press are so fixed on reproting twisted lies very few read the junk.It can be seen how the newpapers are selling less evryyear that the people are tired of the bullshit.
11. After "Shoah-2", which on horizon, same "citizen" will cry 4

12. 9 Ginette Golden: Thank you. Wherever you go or live in
Rivkah   (10.02.09)
the world there will be problems. The great advantage of Israel is you have a sense of peace or at least I do when I go there that is missing in other places. Being near or in God's land that He claimed for His covenant people is worth a lot of sacrifice and having less there than in other places materially does not seem important. I wish I could figure out how to afford an apartment or home in Israel so that for the little time that is left of peace in the world I could be near the Lord's land. Aliyah is saving faith for Jews the Bible says. It is believing God's promises by returning to the land he promised to the Jews. My husband is reluctant to retire or leave his job to another one away from America, so my hope of aliyah is delayed. But in the meantime, I have invested in helping Russians and others to alijah through organizations and have membership in a Jewish Congregation and have a confirmation my mother went to a Jewish Congregation, so that aliyah will be possible when the other obstacles are overcome. I have talked to people in Israel who say they have little in Israel compared to New York and other places because of smaller salaries, but they are happier because they are where God wants them to be.
13. #1 Avi, How right you are!
Edgar ,   Canada   (10.03.09)
That very thing happened to me in the 1970's and 80's. I was swindled by the local Mayor-who was appointed, not elected- and his best friend, the city engineer. It cost me over a quarter of a million, the last of it taken by lawyers, not chump change for those times at all. I could NEVER get the authorities to look into it. In fact, when I went to the police to complain, accompanied by my wife and 2 very young children, they arrested ME, and took my fingerprints, saying that if I didn't give them, they'd put me in a cell with an Arab prisoner. I was a quiet, settled, middle-aged man, small, but, unfortunately, educated. My wife, who was an Orthodox Convert, was never able to forgive them, took a great dislike to and distrust of Israel, and, after 14 bitter years we had to leave, and "............go back where you came from". This last comment is, word-for-word, exactly what the Mayor told us, when we went to his office to complain...........So...........??
14. Shame on you, #7
Steve   (10.03.09)
The legal system of Israel, like most civilized countries, is based on the principle of 'innocent until proven guilty.' Article 11 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states "Everyone charged with a penal offence has the right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law in a public trial at which they have had all the guarantees necessary for their defense." If it were you who were standing accused of a crime, I'm sure you would want to be presumed innocent until proven guilty as well.
15. 1# and 13# , there are many happy aliya stories
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (10.03.09)
I am soirry to hear that your own aliya experiences have not been good yet there are thousands of new immigrants that are very happy living in Israel. I am one of them. I immigrated to Israel from Canada in September 1999. I recently celebrated 10 years since aliya. Of course there were some rough patches along the way yet the end result has been a good one. In Canada I never could find a good Jewish woman to marry. In Israel I met and married a wonderful Jewish woman during my first year in Israel. We now have two beautiful Israei born daughters My siblings who did not make aliya are now married to non-Jewish women in Canada and are raising non-Jewish children.

Mr. Arkadi Gaidomack is innocent! The truth about Israel is that it is a country infested with corrupt officials more than Canada, America, Brazil, Mexico, England and many more places, the difference in Israel is that the fruit of corruption is flaunted in the publics faces taunting the less fortunate where in other places it is not. The courts are partial to the well to do and politicians and to the children of notables and friends alike, I used to think there were 2 legal systems in Israel 1 for the rich and 1 for the poor till I learned that there is just 1 legal system and that is for the poor. Ynet won’t allow me to quote their news reports and use them to make a point in talkbacks for when I do it says it all and my talkbacks are censored for proving the truth cause it irked some employee. Katsav - Sharon -Barak - Ramon - Deri - Benezri - Hirchson - Olmert - Raviv etc just look into their doings and it is clear that the courts are partial. Mr. Arkadi Gaidomack is a businessman who was in touch with the population; he never forgot where he came from. 12 families own Israel 2 papers influence private agendas in Israel. Ginette #9 is correct for fearing to make Aliyah she apparently knows the truth about what goes on in Israel more so than others.. Avi #1 is spot on mate, one must be independent financially and ready to lose it all to a trusty politician at any point. I can not say who I am or I will have my disabled soldiers payments and benefits taken away again for speaking out as before, but if you all knew what really goes on in Israel you wouldn’t invest there. The garbage about the Jews having only 1 country is no excuse for the abuse that the corrupt officials put the people through. Will one day the people of Israel uprise or will they sleep like in the days of Hitler? Mr. Arkadi Gaidomack was not appreciated by the ignorant public of Israel and is feared by the 12 families owning Israel, the public have lost confidence to the point they don’t appreciate Mr. Arkadi Gaidomack and others like him, Gilad Shalit was abandoned by the governments what more must you need see happen to realize Mr. Arkadi Gaidomack is Innocent?
17. #6 You are wrong
JAy3 ,   Israel   (10.03.09)
I know you dont like hearing that, but too bad! Gaydamak is a criminal that came to Israel because he was a wanted man in other countries. He sold weapons and arms to militants to make his billions.........alot of blood is on this disgusting mans hands! Just because he throws his money around in Israel, to try and fool the public that he is a great guy, i see past that! He uses his money to gain influence and power, but even he isnt beyond the Israeli law. I hope he gets a long sentence in jail!
18. Rivkah # 12, I am sold!
Ginette Golden ,   Toronto, Canada   (10.03.09)
In a few years, when I will reach retirement age, I WILL MAKE ALIYAH and that's a promise. Promise not to you but to myself and my son living in Jerusalem. I will buy an apartment in Jerusalem and will be happy to have you as a roommate, I am not joking. Can't go yet, my other son is living in Toronto but when the time will come I will contact you if you give me your email because I like you even though I know you are not Jewish. Sometimes I learn from your talkbacks and you seem to have more backbone than most. Shabbat shalom.

Joel, I tried to reach you to no avail
20. Rivkah, you should read the Bible...
Reb L. Yell ,   Carmiel, Israel   (10.03.09)
Our Lord saith, ‘It is as easy for a camel to go through the eye of a needle as for a rich man to go into the kingdom of heaven’” (Matthew xix, 24). This applies especially to Gaydamak, wanted by authorities on several continents for gun running among other offences. He ain't innocent of anything. Your blabbering about "buying on behalf" is not a fraud which he has been perpretrating for some time here. The legal system is a lot more honest than this serial phoney.
