1. A smart move to prevent problems if Israel bombs Iran
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, USA   (10.11.09)
While this heighten tensions between Turkey and Israel, it is a smart move over all. If Turkey is seen to be helping Israel in training for an air attack on Iran it would cause alot of problem for it.
2. To: No. 1
Sarah B ,   New York / Saviyon   (10.11.09)
I think you misinterpreted this one, dear. The United States declined to participate if Israel was excluded, and that is why Turkey "postponed indefinitely" (actually, they "canceled") the scheduled drill. What's the point of holding one if the two top air forces in the world -- Israel and the United States -- aren't coming. Kind of like holding a surprise birthday party for a person who doesn't show up. Ruins the fun, and obviates the point.
3. by by euro thing. :)
ghostq   (10.11.09)
gees shooting their own foot they will cry mmm does the Ata Turk secular legacy means anything to them? I don't thinks so cause they turn very sharply to religious political point of view. selective short memory they got.
4. Very bad news for the Turks.
Anon ,   Johannesburg   (10.11.09)
Israel... will ot lose much out of this decision, maybe some dignity, however the big loser will be Turkey. Next the Americans will pull out... but more importantly the Euro zone, which saw Turkey as a friendly Islamic nation to the west, are going to think again. Turkey has lost credibility, chances of entry to Euro - slim to none
5. Yet, Turkey still number one
Davi ,   IL   (10.11.09)
on Israel's visiting list. Why support Turkey in its transition away from the west. stop all holidays to Turkey! the Americans and EU will follow us as usual and stop their support for Turkeys' economy. Turkey can either be fanatic Islamic nation like Iran, or part of western culture; high-Tech, biogenetics, nano Tech etc etc... they have to chose were they want to be. We (Israel does not mind what they chose to do) but stop playing both sides.
6. Another Success story for Lieberman-A divergence underway
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (10.11.09)
I already passed this new here two days ago as soon as Turkish newspaper headlined this issue http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3787014,00.html AS you may know that was one of most frequently I wrote here critisizing Turkey who allows IAF to train in Turkish air space. Erdogan's party will pay mistakes in near elections in supporting Israel and handshaking with armenia. There is a divergence between Turkey and Israel, as Israel continues some policies unbearable for any muslim country, perhaps any country muslim or christian or budist becaues EU has put some restrictions on Israeli products and appearantly applying boycot, Turkey do not apply such boycots or restrictions to Israel yet. IN any case Liebermand has the biggest shar of proud in this diplomatic rout
7. The Turks have chosen. So we cannot ignore their decision
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (10.11.09)
The Turkish Government, the Turkish Press and the people of Turkey have chosen to join the Muslim hatred of Israel and the Jewish people. We must break of relations with Turkey and stop tourism to Turkey. El Al must stop flying to Turkey and Turkish Airlines must have their landing rights revoked. Israelis who go to Turkey must be told they are going to a hostile country and that Israel cannot help them if they become victims of Turkish/Muslim anti-Semitism and terror. That's it. We must not go to countries who side with those who wish to destroy our country and our people! Sweden is next!
8. Very Clever Turkey, now you have given the EU complete....
The Dude   (10.11.09)
Reason to block your entry to the EU. While I'm definitely not saying that the EU is pro-Israel, that would be complete ignorance. But this is just a very nice excuse for the already queasy EU to block off Turkey. Because this could easily be spinned as an increase of religious fanaticism (which indeed it is), or refusal to 'cooperate' with others, a major facet of the 'multi-cultural' EU. So the big winner of all of this is the EU, as they get another reason to block Turkish entry and glee in delight about Israel being blocked off from an activity.

you sounds like our local national soccer team coaches, blaming everyone else but conveniently ignoring their own part in the failure...
11. Turks simply trying to play both sides at once
JPS ,   Efrat   (10.11.09)
The Turks know they want to be part of the modern western world, but at the same time they feel beholden to the Muslim theocracies in the middle east. As a powerful military and economic force in the region, the Turks simply want to gain more regional power and influence. The cancellation of the air exercise makes them look good in the Islamic world, while no doubt they are apologizing behind closed doors in the west. Israel and Turkey will continue to cooperate, the Turks still have much to gain from us and almost nothing to gain from the Arabs or Persians (other than sales, of course).
12. Cold Turkey
Mark ,   Jerusalem   (10.11.09)
I don't know what we should be so worried about, so we don't take part this year. So we will not go to Turkey this year they loose out not me, Eilat here I come
13. Righteous anger from a country that committed a genocide
Recorda-me   (10.11.09)
If the Turkish genocide of more than one million Armenians had happened recently, Turkey wouldn't be scolding Israel or anyone. But since it occurred almost a century ago, and since the Turks have never formally confessed to the genocide, they seem to think they're in a position to preach. Very few countries have slaughtered so many innocents, and Turkey's one of them. So who are they to point fingers?
14. Turkey freezes Israel out of air force drill
R C ,   USA   (10.11.09)
Well it looks like Erdogan is finally showing his true colors. When will the U.S. and especially Israel realize that most if not all Islamic countries are not the friends they portray themselves to be. All new military technology that is given to them will most likely be used against you in the future. When will you wake up and see the truth. The Muslim religion calls for our destruction, it’s in the Koran.
15. israeli supremacy
martin ,   stevenage uk   (10.11.09)
why will israel help train the turks? israel's friends were the kurds who helped many iraqi jews to escape to israel. next time the turks suffer a major catastrophe such as another earthquake,, i do hope the turks will rely on their new found charitable arab fellow moslem friends not so long ago the israeli airforce and the topguns of the us 6th fleet held a major exercise over the med. the result wqas the downing of 10 - 1 in favour of israel. who needs nato? nato needs israel
16. Turkey
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (10.11.09)
Turkey has a split personality,it wants to join Europe, but it's heart and soul are in Islamia,With Israel,Turkey is playing a yo yo game, changes every day, according to Erdogans mood, his heart is with Hamas and Iran,so,he has to placate them.
