... accept Israel's RIGHT to be, to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people - something they request for the Palestinian Arabs and Israel has granted - there is little reason to expect Israel making any significant move towards an accommodation of peaceful coexistence between Arab and Jew, between Israel and its Arab neighbors, something that nearly all Jews, within and without Israel are very eager to achieve. Israel insists on this recognition, which of course is based on such recognition by the League of Nations and the organization that replaced it, the United Nations (UN), because without it, the thinking goes, Israel is expected to negotiate its annihilation, and that will not pass.
