1. weak and strong
alexi   (10.12.09)
Some are weak and others are strong. Ayalon dresses up as beitenu but is weak in his core, like livni, beilin, ben-ami with no strong israeli instinct. For example, it is ok to say Turkey is an important country, but one should also say erdogan's actions are unfriendly and an improper act. Relations are a 2 way street and israel will reassess. Instead ayalon kisses rear end , they are an anchor etc etc all this bullcrap. Lieberman is strong. Olmert and livni were horribly weak, incredibly weak and so were turgeman, dekel and turbowicz. Shalom is also weak. Bibi is weak and strong. Yaalon is strong, feiglin is strong, landau is strong, gillerman is strong, barak is weak and strong. Peres is weak, weak and weak.
2. They are creeping to the love of terrorism, they are
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (10.12.09)
hop, skipping and jumping to get there. They don't need the West and the aid from the West when they can look in the koooran and find what the need, death and destruction. The Turks did OK as a secular nation, not they are running to be another Egypt, another Jordon, poor and mad at the world.
3. The end of NATO
Steve from Raleigh   (10.12.09)
So why would Israel need to rebuild bridges with them anymore? Turkey will go Islamist in a few years and wonder of wonders, THAT will be the push to finally let them into the EU. In any case NATO is finished and we needn't worry about it any more.
4. With all of Turkey's war crimes, Israel still tries to placa
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (10.12.09)
placate them It will not work and will get even worse with the Islamists they are not humans but wild animals to be disposed of on they way to Tehran and Qom will be good for the IAF to drop something on Ankara too
5. TURKEY
LARRY ,   USA   (10.12.09)
TURKEY IS NOT YOUR FRIEND BEG FOR FRIENSHIP AND YOU WILL LOOSE WORLD RESPECT CONTINUE TO UPGRADE YOUR DEFENCE FORCES YOUR ENEMIES WILL RESPECT POWER
6. Strategic Partners don't backstab their allies
Jacob Blues ,   New York City, USA   (10.12.09)
as Turkey did to Israel and NATO. The current Turkish regime has been taking these many steps towards, not the Muslim world, but its worst despots in the form of Iran's Amahdinejad, Syria's Assad, the Palesitnian HAMAS, and Sudan's Assad. Given this pattern, its hardly showing mutual ties with Israel and the West.
7. WHY???!!! WE are better off without them!!
Israeli 2   (10.12.09)
Most Israelis do not want the government to be complacent vis vis Turkey. Let them be! To them, this shows that we are weak...nothing else. Why do we do this? We need them against Iran??? No REASON!!
8. Israeli The Red Nosed Reindeer
Torrance ,   United States   (10.12.09)
Here is yet another example of how Israel has become an embarrassing liability to American foreign policy and national security.
9. Turkey feels secure now that Iraq has been tamed.
Daniel ,   Los Angeles   (10.12.09)
Turkey does NOT want to be fired upon with Iranian missiles once the war with Iran commences. We can grant Turkey some leeway under the circumstances of its proximity to Iran. Iran will be defeated without having to put Turkey in harm's way.
10. Strategic partner?
Brod ,   USA   (10.12.09)
With its Islamist-Jihadist government, Turkey is not and cannot be a strategic partner to Israel. When the crunch comes, they will side with the Islamist-Jihadist world against Israel. It is time for Israel to forget about having a relationship with Turkey.
11.  Turkey
Ron B. ,   Lod   (10.12.09)
Radical Turkish Islamists have been organizing nightly programs in cities across Turkey under the slogan, “A free Al-Quds [the Muslim term for Jerusalem], A world without Israel.” The halls are decked out with photos of Hizbullah Chief Hassan Nasrallah and former Hamas Chief Ahmed Yassin. PLO flags are draped over the speaker’s podium. At the events, Hamas and Hizbullah are glorified as Israel and Western countries demonized, and jihadist speeches are delivered. Participants are offered the chance to donate to the groups or even to enroll in training to join them in their terrorist operations. Similar events are frequently held in the mainly Kurdish southeast and east of the country, with huge audiences turning out as efforts are increased to indoctrinate those populations. 12. The point is, what Turkey considers Israel to be.
AK   (10.12.09)
To me it doesn't sound it like Turkey considers Israel to be a strategic partner. I have no doubts that Turkey has done their own calculations a what they consider gaining by dumping Israel and on Israel must outweigh the loss of ending the 'partnership' with Israel. This anti-Israel change has been coming on in Turkey for some time, I suppose; did Mosad and Israeli politicians pay attention or just hoped for the best, I wonder?
13. Wrong! Turkey will fall like Iran did, and soon Egypt...
shneer   (10.12.09)
Israel thinks it is twice as smart.... by half. Alliances with Egypt, Turkey are destined to fall as they did with the Shah. Time for Israel to REALLY BELIEVE and UNDERSTAND she is TRULY ALONE, and to conduct her diplomatic, military and foreign policy accordingly.
14. why we always have to swallow the idioty of others?
uli ,   jerusalem   (10.12.09)
let's once be angry, cancel deals. believe me turkey will be hurt. but this way they know they can play with us, humiliate us, don't keep contracts, and we will always try to repair the friction caused by them. have guts!
15. Gee, just the other day was not Sarah B
Ken ,   Europe   (10.12.09)
bragging about Israel being part of this NATO military exercise? For an Americian she doesn't seem to have all her facts straight.
16. G.d is best strategic Partner than turkey
Michael ,   Jerusalem   (10.12.09)
just to let you know
17. Turkey's True Colors
Israeli ,   Israel   (10.12.09)
Its time for Israel to realize that this country is now lost to us. Look at Erdogan's policy toward Iran: Lift Sanctions. Look at his stand concerning Op. Cast Lead - Israel should be tried for war crimes. SMELL THE COFFEE AYALON! Stop embarrasing us. Lets move on with out them.
18. #10

Strategic partner? Israel? Please Brod, who is a strategic partner to Israel? Antartica.
19. #10 Strategic partner? Israel?

Who is considered Israel's strategic partner, Sarah B, your g_d?
20. # 13
Atheist Turk ,   Germany   (10.12.09)
This would be a nightmare. Turkey falling into the hands of Jihadists. I cannot await the day, that the islamist AKP will be replaced by a secular government. Quo vadis Turkey? If Turkey' s fate falls into the hand of Jihadists, where will Turks like me go? Nightmare.

24. Best defining word Turkey-Israel relations: DIVERGENCE
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (10.12.09)
Divergence is a process starting from a common point to every increasing gap between parties. I used term DIVERGENCE months ago to describe Turkish-Israeli relations. Foreign Ministry of Israel is incapable of solving any diplomatic issue least Lieberman is himself a source of problem even if there were no other. He is capable of causing international scandalous disclosures. Sarkozy said GET RID OF HIM to save Israel and I supported Lieberman in my comments because it was showing real face of Israel Thanks Lieberman, without you everything would be more difficult!
25. #23 Betty are you theatening the rest of the world?
Ken ,   Europe   (10.12.09)
26. #20 Atheist Turk
David Israel ,   New York USA   (10.12.09)
Finally a Turk that makes sense. However after my visit to Turkey in July and August this year I am not very hopeful that there will be a change in Turkey in the near future. While AKP is loosing some support it is not enough to replace it under the current election laws that has a 10% minimum vote requirement for a party to be seated in the parliament, as well as the unpopularity of the CHP leadership under Denis Baykal.
