The Nobel prize nomination was for a vision of a presidential candidate not a president. So far Obama has killed the Israel/Palestinian peace and removed the one Palestinian who wanted to make peace - Abbas. Obama has made a lot of noise about the environment, Iraq, Afghanistan, Gay rights, nuclear disarmament, etc. At the time of nomination he had 0% accomplished. At the time of the award he will have 0% accomplished. As it looks now, at the time he leaves office in January 2012 he will have 0% accomplished. In retrospect this will turn out to be even less useful than giving Yasser Arafat the same Peace Prize while he was organizing and approving terrorist attacks. But this is what we have come to expect from Norway.

Giving someone who has done nothing for peace has only cheapened the prize. While I had problems with Arafat/Rabin getting it--at least they made some attempt at peace, albeit a very, IMO misguided one. Obama hasn't even done that. When awards are given out and they are unearned then everyone who will earn them in the future will receive something that is devalued. But, I am not surprised. Obama is being treated as a demi-G-d, so why not this award too?

Excuse me, which peace are you talking about? He removed Abbas - non-elected , weak leader, whose energy is fully consumed by incessant condemnations of whatever Israel does? Abbas is there only because of Israeli bayonets, without them he'd have fled under Hamas's assault. Even though I agree with your assessment ref Obama nomination, this statment ref Abba/peace sounds plain ridiculous.

the US must remove ALL of its military forces back to US soil. The US must give back all "territories, insular possessions and protectorates" and close all military bases outside of the 50 states. Even though it was the presence of US troops in Germany that prevented the USSR from swallowing ALL of Europe, the US should have never spent billions of dollars of American taxpayers money to protect those ingrates. US troops should be removed from Europe, Asia (including South Korea and Japan), the entire South Pacific, the Middle East, and South America. Since, in the Leftist worldview, no country will attack another country, the US can cease pretending to be the world's police force. After all, Russia didn't really attack Georgia last yar, North Korea is peaceful, there are no hostilities in South America, there's no fighting currently in Africa, and "jihad" really means religious tolerance and peaceful coexistance.
