1. isn´t this the way "religious" muslims marry?
Jacob ,   Munich   (10.15.09)

Mohammad ,   Jordan   (10.15.09)
I hope many Arabs would read this article. Israel gave itself a lot of credit for being superior in the middle east but i believe that Israel has simply no one to compete with. Its surrounded with a bunch of morons who care only about their self interests.
3. Thanks Ynet - For a good news article
David ,   Shilo Israel   (10.15.09)
4. The “Palestinians'” lack of interest in peace.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (10.15.09)
Neither the Fatah-ruled Palestinian Authority in the West Bank nor the Hamas mini-state in Gaza are interested in a peace that would recognize the legitimacy of a Jewish state, no matter where the borders were drawn. The failure of the Oslo Accords, the July 2000 Camp David summit, the withdrawal from Gaza in 2005 and last year's desperate effort by former prime minister Ehud Olmert to hand the PA a state on a silver platter all illustrate the Palestinians' lack of interest in signing such a deal. Unfortunately Obama doesn’t understand the M-E : http://xrl.us/be9jb8
5. big surprise...
Jeff ,   Philadelphia   (10.15.09)
I don't see why anyone is terribly surprised by this. Hamas knows exactly what it's doing... The big loser in a lack of reconciliation is the peace process so of course Hamas is going to torpedo any attempt at reconciliation... They essentially thrive on "Palestinian suffering" and blaming Israel for all the problems in the territories, and as long as things are quiet and the peace process in on track, they lose most of their power.
6. "Force Israel To Open Gaza Crossings"
Christy ,   Boston, US   (10.16.09)
This makes no sense at all in light of what was reported about the smuggling tunnels to Egypt. Why doesn't Egypt open up its borders and allow the Palestinians to come and go legally? Trade with the Palestinians legally and get rid of the smuggling tunnels. I do think it's a bit much that Egypt wants Israel to open the Gaza Crossings when Egypt forces its Palestinian brethren to use smuggling tunnels to and from Egypt. Quote "In Cairo’s view, the only glue that can connect the Palestinians is the anti-Israel interest." Again the 'Palestinian Cause' is being used to keep the flames of anger burning against Israel (and the US too). This 'Cause' is very useful for various results. It's one reason why many leaders in the Arab and Muslim world will not try and help their Palestinian brethren to advance beyond where they are today. The 'Cause' is so useful to have around. It can be used to advance many goals. The Palestinian people suffer because they are just pawns.
7. Until the Palestinians throw out ALL the 'leaders'..
David ,   Hartford USA   (10.16.09)
including the in-your-face Hamas psychopaths and the lie-to-your-face Abbas, there will never be peace. The Palestinians must stand up to the murderers and morons that lead them (Haniyeh, Mashaal, Abbas, etc) and decide that they want to live in peace. If they don't, it simply means THEY AGREE WITH THE NUTJOBS and Israel might as well unilaterally decide everything and be done with it. The result won't be any worse than if the idiot Arab 'leaders' added their two cents anyway. Bibi: JUST DO IT!
8. Whats an Arab Palestinian????
David ,   Boston, USA   (10.16.09)
PA and Hamas are just 2 sides of the same hateful side, one religious calling for killing Jews, one secular with a leader who denies the Holocaust. Both are repulsive in itself and care little about the Arab people under their leadership. Cancel Hamas, Cancel PA, Cancel Palestine. 2 states, Israel and Jordan Palestine. thats how peace will eventually happen and not with the hatred and historical denial by the general Arab population in the Middle East. Their revisionism is repulsive, their treatment of their own people is worse, and their treatment of Jews is worse still.
9. To David: Israel Needs Some House Cleaning Too
Dav Lev ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (10.16.09)
To David: I agree but what can Israel realitically do? Bibi drew red lines..preferring Fatah take care of Hamas. Yet Abbas pushed the Goldstone inquiry at the UN, demands the right of return AND a non-Jewish state (all non-starters and deal killers). Israel tried to play Fatah against Hamas..but w/o any apparent success. Hamas claims the boycott is effective,,but Egypt's borders are closed. Why? Egypt says doesn't want Israel to get off the hook. What nonsense!. Egypt can open it's borders..like Calif and Mexico, with traffic both ways. No problemo. This is all maneuvering on everyone's part..to out fox Israel..weaken it and destroy it. Even Obama's attitude is a weapon now as are Iranian nukes. Israel cannot even deal with Kadima's Livni and Lieberman refutes Bibi openly, while Haredi riot over a parking lot. To Israel: get your act together, it's your necks in the noose pals.
10. Wouldn't it be nice, David?
Miransky ,   Alabama USA   (10.16.09)
It would be wonderful if all the steps you mentioned could be accomplished, especially two states, Israel and Jordan-Palestine. But that may happen only in a parallel universe, never in the one we live in and have to deal with.
11. Two Palestines?
Ilan ,   Negev, Israel   (10.17.09)
The creation of two separate states is not unreasonable. Palestine1 in the Judea and Samaria area. Palestine2 in the Gaza strip. Two state governments will be formed. In 200 years there could be a greatest Israel federation containing three states: Israel, Fatahsistan, and Hamasistan.
12. 3 pali states Hamastan, Fatahland and JORDAN
Maybe Lebanon will ,   split as well   (10.17.09)
13. Please,
i ,   jerusalem   (10.18.09)
stop talking about a Palestinian state and Jordan. The mere prospect causes the dapper little monarch to wet his pants.
14. Israeli Conflict
Jerry Stewart ,   Edgewater, Fl., USA   (10.18.09)
"A sheep amongst 70 wolves." It should be, "A scapegoat amongst 70 wolves" One of the Israeli leaders made a statement after the last conflict. That, the only way for peace to happen, is the Muslims need to be able to, LOVE their children more than they Hate the Israelis. In my working life, I worked with a Palistinian. He left there because his family and friends where so full of hatred, he saw this hatred as a disease. This disease seems to be very contagious, and only a very strong mind can defeat this disease. Hatred is the worst disease that can be inflicted on our species. I call Hatred the Hell virus, if you have it you are living in Hell, its goal is to destroy its host.
