the thing about Reform practices is that it approves and encourages intermarriage. People loose a sense of heritage, being that the home is not centered around jewish cycles. Then the offspring of those intermarried couple find no value in marrying Jews, and they marry whomever, and then by the third generation Judaism is an accident of birth, like brown eyes. It's just something that happens to be. Reform Judaism is having to allow for so many exceptions to the rules, it's not supporting or reproducing itself.- the key to survival... When we made Aliyah, someone asked what are we running from- my answer assimilation and intermarriage. I love all Jews. But let's be honest, Judaism in the reform branch is greatly fading. Reform Jews don't want to accept reality. The fact that they bend and bend and call people who have nothing to do with Judaism as Jews (meaning no mother blood nor proper conversion nor Jewish style of living) doesn't mean their communities are strong, all the contrary, they are getting farther and farther from traditional Judaism and from Israel. Their was already transited many times, but they don't learn. Why? Very simple, living in the USA with high standards, not having to resign Shabat to Gd, not having to eat kosher, is more important to them than anything else. Adapting Judaism to live like goyim is NOT the way, is just a clouded assimilation, and the numbers show that clearly.

Reform Jews are very much in Israel's corner and are very much Jewish! Don't just look at our political leanings. Reform Jews are just as diverse in their political persuasions as anyone else. I, my husband and our two kids are very Jewish and very pro-Israel. Don't look at the far-left Jewish element and consider them representative of the Jewish-American mainstream. The majority of us are as Zionist as Zionism gets. Don't count us out.

Reform and conservative Judaism are not real Judaism. They take what the Torah says and modify it or make it optional. They are questioning the core beliefs of Judaism and in doing so have simply created a new religion different from it. Judaism has always evolved and the Torah has been reinterpreted by various legitimate rabbis, but the truth within the Torah was never abrogated. Reform and conservative Judaism are movements started out of convenience and people support them out of convenience. They allow you to avoid all the challenging aspects of being a Jew like serious prayer, genuine conversions, and observing all the mitzvot. They simply tell you these things are not necessary and you are just as good a Jew whether you do them or not. And Yishai is further right in saying that they lead to greater assimilation. All these fake conversions produce goyish children who simply believe they are Jews. Those people with the right to reinterpret the Torah should at the very least have a complete and thorough understanding of it. The so called rabbis produced by reform and conservative Judaism are walking insults to real yeshiva graduates with smicha who have devoted themselves to living a Torah observant lifestyle. American Jewry is slowly disappearing. Those who are left and are not torah observant, but are halachicly Jewish, should flee to Israel now before it is too late. It is time we started investing in the long term survival of our people.

As someone who was actually in the audience, I can tell you that the President's conference is something like a "Gentlemen's club" - the VIPs consisted of Shimon Peres' old cronies and the "kissing the air" and back slapping of all the guests was something hilarious to watch. Unfortunately, if you had asked the guests, if any of their children/grandchildren had assimilated/intermarried, I would wager a guess that at least 80% of them would answer in the affirmative. What happened as a result is that when Eli Yishai came along and spoke pure facts, it's too painful for the "oldies" to hear, because they know he is correct; so what do they do - they boo. I applaud him - he knew what he was getting himself into; I counted 8 kippot in the entire Binyenei HaUmah.

reform judaism IS judaism. period. you may not agree with all its tenets,. just as i don't agree with all of those from orthodox judaism... az ma? when it comes down to it,.. whoever is jewish is jewish. the rest of the world doesn't really distinguish between the sects. i don't like this minister ishai... i don't like his policies regarding judaism. and i don't like his policies regarding foreign workers and their children. i am a jew. i'm as jewish as it gets.... my mother's mother's mother's mother's mother's..... etc.... but i consider myself more aligned with reform or conservative ideas than other sects. we are all brothers and sisters.. in our religion and in this world. amen

begin with lesser coercision on Israeli seculars . Why should Jews make Alyah when they can't move on shabbat ? When they have to obey the Orthodox rules ? When only a Orthodox wedding is "kosher" here ? Make this country more accepting all kind of Jews , not only the Orthodox ones . Intermarriage is not only there because of the reform , there are other reasons . To avoid this trend : give your children a FULL time Jewish [ not necessarely religious ] education . They will know , for most of them , only Jewish kids , will not intermarry so easily .

And most of them aren't immigrating away, to say the least. The first generation dies, the second generation intermarries, and the third generation isn't Jewish. That's the reality today in the US except among the Orthodox Jews. They're the only group that's steadily growing even as the number of Jews (not the relative number to the US population, but the absolute number!) is falling. When US Reform Judaism compromised to allow interfaith marriages in a desperate attempt to hold on to the congregations, they merely cemented an existing reality.

The difference between an Episcopalian and a Reform Jew in America is the former pretends to be Christian and the latter pretends to be Jewish. Their children, of course, finally marry each other in a secular ceremony after cohabiting for five years. Then they get divorced eight years later.

Everyone here is a Rabbi, or at least a "guardian of the faith", that must know a lot of Halacha. People, the Halacha can be changed, it was change in the past!!!!! when we were all "orthodox" and I don't see anyone here saying anything about that. What the hell is so special about being a Jew, Christian, Muslim, black, white, where you were born, or where you live? It seems that people on power trips have created God in palatable images, instituting whatever tenets, rituals, and laws it took to set groups of malleable “us's” apart from all those unmanageable “them's.” I suspect that God is really pissed about that sort of arrogance and we'll be at each other's throats until we recognize the various fairy tales for what they are, and accept the fact that we're all created equal and in His/Her image. The Reform are gaining many members because many of them are not accepted as Jews by the Orthodox. They find that by the Reform, they are accepted as Jews by others like them both in ignorance and in being not Jewish.

I'm not sure whether your statement with respect to ignorance applies to religion, lack of general education, or both, but do you have statistics as to which Jewish Nobel Prize recipients were Orthodox and which were "not Jewish"? To be honest, it's a trick question. I'm simply wondering whether the "not Jewish" you mention turn into good Jews when they win a Nobel Prize or if they're still non-Jews by your standards afterwards, because they weren't Orthodox. Wouldn't it be hypocritical to play that both ways???

Those American Jews who assisted at this conference are they assimilated ? Lost to Judaism and Israel ? Why were they here then ? Those who booed Yishai were not Orthodox Jews , they were probably Reform ones . By coming to Yeroushalaim they showed what they are :Jews and Israel supporters . Someone told us that he had seen only 8 kippoth . Where were the Orthodox American and Israeli ones ?
