1. MERRIDOR FINDS DEMOCRACY INCONVENIANT
zionist forever   (10.27.09)
The Golan referendum bill may well waigh down the politicians plans but the country doesn't belong to Merridor or any political party. Lets not forget Israels MKS are not even directly elected, parties get elected and then usually corrupt coalitions are put together by buying off other parties be it money for welfare to get Shas or civil marriges to get Liberman. Not one of them was directly elected by the public. Also a Knesset majority of just 1 vote more than the other side isn't exactly what I would call a fair or representetive on such a major issue. A referendum is the purest form of democracy and it would mean the Israeli people decide the future of the land their country not a crooked coalition made up of non directly elected politicans. If the majority of the public want to keep the Golan we keep it, if the majority want to get rid of it then we get rid of it but its the people who must decide. If Merridor doesn't want a democratic solution then he has no place in the Knesset and would probably fit in better in a country like Syria where the government doesn't believe in those little inconveniences called democracy.
