Ynet mentions at least twice that the man was "grinning". So what?He is happy for returning to Israel and for the arms of his family who supports him,so he is "grinning". What's the problem? Maybe the mother who eventually listened to him ,abusing children, should join him ,eventually in the lunatics house,in case it rests proven all that madness.
2. Before knowing the charges attributed to
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.29.09)
his client the attorney said : in any case those things did'nt happen !
3. Chen is innocent until proven by a RELIGIOUS court otherwise
(10.29.09)
He may be innocent or he may be guilty but as Jews we may not condemn him until we are confident that he is guilty. Israel's secular injustice system is no proof of his guilt. Even if he confesses to it, it's still not a proof to his guilt as we all know of the tortures of Israel's Inquisition on the accused to make them "confess" to whatever they want you to "confess".
4. maybe he just went to Brazil on Holiday
Avi ,   Israel   (10.29.09)
Well maybe its all just a misunderstanding first he went to Canada and then he decided he would have a better holiday in Brasil that well known holiday spot for the ultra orthdox these days, I mean they could always ask that poor kid , oh sorry i forgot he is now in a vegative state and cant testify against him. And his mother swares he`s innocent, " what my boy he is such a good boy, im sure Hitlers mother said the same. Its all a plot by those nasty secular police because he`s religious you see and they have nothing better else to do than spend a year , public resources and tax payers ( nasty seculars tax money ) money to bring him to Israel, all just a missunderstanding and im sure he will free soon.
5. Rabbi horney
Mike Van Harris ,   Antwerp Belgium   (10.29.09)
I think this so called Rabbi is mentally sick, and should be put behind bars.
6. 1 - ever heard of remorse, shame?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (10.29.09)
if he was reported that he was smiling after he abused a child would you call that 'gossip' too?
7. # 3 face reality
Avi ,   Israel   (10.29.09)
Well hate to break it to you but Israel is a modern democratic state which has a system of law. Israel is not a religious state and is not run according to Jewish law. So if that is the case as you state then no secular person should be tried by a religious judge , seing as you hate secular jews so much? fair enough then ? How sick of you to defend this monster well i guess you would wouldnt you!
8. Looks like the usual Haredi bashing
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim,   (10.29.09)
B"H This story looks like the usual Haredi bashing, especially when you consider that the Israeli government has let go 20 (twenty) real and convicted Arab terrorists for a video of Shalit reading an Arab news no, propaganda paper. There seem to be a complete lack of sense of proportion between the reporting on the two cases. On the one hand this innocent until proved guilty guy making front page headlines, 20 convicted Arab terrorists of whom no one wants to report anything, on the other!
9. #8 You disgust me. You and he
frum mother   (10.29.09)
are a disgrace to yiddishkeit.
10. #9 Amen sister
Avi ,   Israel   (10.29.09)
11. Ariel , if it's charidi "bashing" he is a charidi for you !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.29.09)
So he acted as a charidi and we should condemn all of you , if we follow your "logic"
12. Avi, not only is Israel not run according to Jewish law
Bob   (10.29.09)
it's not run according to universal law either! As long as there is no justice in the court system, ISRAEL IS A LAWLESS STATE! If this is what you consider a "a modern democratic state" may Heaven help us.
13. abusive rabbi's
debbie ,   israel   (10.29.09)
To #8, Ariel Ben Yochanan Your comments are rediculous and beyond absurd. The 20 prisoners released for the tape of Shali have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with this beast who's accused of sadistically torturing small children. How in the world do you make a connection between them? Just because he's also religious, it doesnt mean that the whole Haredi world has to excuse and protect him and leap to his defense, not even knowing whether he really committed these crimes. Although I think that he has. Anyway who hurts a child, physically or emotionally, is committing a crime against God, and I am not religious. I believe that adults have a duty to love and nurture children, and ensure that they will in turn love and protect their own children in the next generation. How do you defend this animal? Do you really think that the Israeli police have put all this time, energy, resources and money into pursuing him, and bringing him back from Brazil, just because he's Haredi? Wouldnt it be easier and cheaper to go after someone who's already living here, if the reason is only because he's Haredi. And because they label themselves as religious rabbis, does it give them carte blanche to hound and savage small children?
14. #9's comment on #8
Michael ,   Haifa   (10.29.09)
You may add to that "a disgrace to humanity"
15. #9 You are Avi's sister as he acknowledged in #10
(10.29.09)
and YOU are accusing Ariel of being a disgrace to yiddishkeit? What do you guys know or care about yiddishkeit? You call yourself, Frum mother. Do you know what Frum stands for in Yiddish? “Fil rishes veinig mitzvot” (full of wickedness and hardly any mitzvot). That’s what we see in you and your dear brother Avi from your criticism of #3 and #8 and other occasions.
16. The concept
Jakko ,   Israel   (10.29.09)
I'm not voicing my opinion here on whether or not I think he's guilty or innocent. That is irrelevant. The point that I'm trying to make now is that the concept of "innocent until proven guilty" is not only dead, but the exact opposite of this is true. No matter what the outcome of the trial is, the Israeli public already "knows" (through the irresponsible non-objectiveness of the press) that he's the "abusive" and "self proclaimed" rabbi. Even if he is proven, by the letter of the law and without a fraction of a doubt, innocent, it won't make any difference. The press (largely this site, among others) has already pronounced his verdict. What happened to morality? What happened to a fair and just trial? What happened to our "Fair press"?
17. I have had absolutely nothing in common
frum mother   (10.29.09)
with Avi, till low lifes started defending this sadistic creep. Now I dissasociate myself from all who defend this maniac. All their chanting and wailing doesnt impress or frighten me. They keep Shabbes I keep Shabbes, Avi probably doesn't. But as they defend this creep I abhor them, and btw, they would be amazed to know where we daven. I despise them for their views and that's it.
18. He can't be guilty, he's haredi!
dave ,   uk   (10.29.09)
19. #16 Jakko, I agree with you 100000%
Bob   (10.29.09)
It's quite shameful that a woman calling herself "frum mother" should write with so much hate when all she knows about these cases are what she picks up from the one-sided media. We cannot expect any better from the other talkbackers who are simple hareidi haters and self-hating liberal Jews.
20. #16
Marilyn ,   USA   (10.29.09)
This is not a matter of innocent until proven guilty. He's getting a trial and then if found guilty will be punished, if not will be let go. However it is like there is a little of something else going on. In a strict form, it seems like a person is not supposed to be talked about, or on trial or punished no matter what. This is a dangerous belief system, cause these people are not just going to stop.
21. Jakko , Bob and others : he is guilty
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.30.09)
Do you think that Brazil would have extradited him without serious evidence of culpability ? Do you know that it had gone to a court there ? More than enough to say that he is guilty . All of you open your mouth against those accusing him , telling he has to be judged by a religious court . Why ? because he wears charidi "clothes" ? is he a believing guy in the Jewish faith ? His "religion" is based on the Jewish one , yes , but he has adapted it to his views and found some fanatic idiot followers who believe in their "rebbe"
22. The Concept, again
Jakko ,   RBS, Israel   (11.02.09)
Re: numbers #17, #20 and #21 (and even #17!) - you all completely missed the point! How could you read my comment take any of your comments out of it? (Yes - Even #17!!) The point was not to defend him, or to (further) incriminate him. it was to point out the injustices of our own democratic-based justice system! As it so happens (#21) I personally think he is guilty! I do! You brought some very good points that are all very fascinating... but pointless! I'm not trying to defend a "sadistic creep" (#17), nor am I trying to bash a "frum mother" (#19) - What happened to our sense of justice? I'm posing a question to all of you - What happened to our sense of the 'presumption of innocence'? Does 'innocent until proven guilty'? still apply anymore? More importantly - Does it apply still to everybody? Regardless of race, creed or dress? This, I feel, is the question that needs to be asked. Or is everybody just interested in bashing each other?
