1. obvious
the Last Zionist ,   Eilat   (11.01.09)
Someone is afraid their followers will have the organs removed while they are still standing. Bounce the families of carriers of organ donor cards to the front of the line. Boycott Hechsher Badatz.
2. If this is the case...
Michael Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (11.01.09)
Then the Eida Haredit must disassociate themselves from receiving organ transplants entirely, lest the become accessories to murder. I can live with that.
3. Recommendation
Lewis ,   Jerusalem   (11.01.09)
What I recommend to haredim is that none of them should go to a doctor who is not haredi, none of them should go to a hospital that is not haredi, none of them should take any medicine that it is not made by a haredi company. If they follow all these recommendations, then the rest of us will be protected.
4. OK , not giving = not receiving

5. Sadly, organs are often harvested by murdering the patient,
Rivkah   (11.01.09)
braindead or not. Dr. Bill Deagle (M.D.) of Ft.Collins, Colorado, spoke of the murder of a 40 year old man who fell and hit his head on a coffee table and was taken to a Canadian hospital E.R. unconscious with a simple concussion. The family was told it was hopeless and agreed to organ donation. The man was murdered for body parts which are worth $300,000. or more. Dr. Deagle left Canadian medicine and went to work in America after that. He is Jewish by birth and was horrified at what he saw as abuse of medical authority in the quest for organs for transplant. If a patient truly is braindead and the straight line on an EEG is not a trick to deceive, the family should be given the option of paying for the care of the patient after 30 days of government care. If the family does not or cannot pay, then I can understand euthanasia as much as I don't like the idea. But for those who need new organs, why not regenerate the ones you have? Lungs can be healed with USNEA extract in a number of years of daily dosages. A person's heart can be regenerated with CoEnzyme Q-10 and L-Carnitine and taurine and other building blocks of the heart. Blood vessels can be cleaned out and repaired with EDTA IV or rectal chelation and full spectrum bioflavinoid vitamin C. Why be cannibals? If it is time for a person to face his/her Maker, then so be it. Y'hovah, the Creator, can heal organs, too. I have read of women who went to Jerusalem after having a hysterectomy and that part of their anatomy that was surgically removed was restored supernaturally. The problem with being an organ donor is that it is too much of a temptation for hospital people to let that person die to get the organs which cannot be sold but the service of providing the organs is lucrative. Never, never, never carry an organ donor card or have organ donor on a driver's license. If the time comes and there is no hope of survival, relatives can make the decision at that time. It is too dangerous to let that decision be put in the hands of people who can profit if you die.

11. Eda Haredit's distortion of Jewish beliefs
William ,   Israel   (11.02.09)
I would like this hateful anti-Zionist person to explain a few things about life and Judaism... 1) if a person is brain-dead, and according to Judaism this is the point of interaction of soul and spirit, how can this person still be "alive"? Essentially, this is a mortal form that is trapping a soul from leaving this world...and isn't that more of a crime? 2) According to Eda Haredit, man must not play G-d. This is their whole argument of being anti-Zionist. How then can they accept using machines and other artificial means to keep a person alive? Isn't this, too, playing G-d?
12. This government is brain dead & we should have their organs
Sam   (11.02.09)
removed
13. A working heart definitely doesnt belong to a dead person
gabriela ben ari ,   jerusalem   (11.02.09)
Ok so the patient whose hart is working is not calculating the latest NASDAQ index, so what? What do you guys know what he is thinking about? That a human made machine does not record electonic signals, does not mean his brain is not working to begin with. People who came back from being declared "brain dead" reported amazing thoughts by the way. It will backfire on donators at the end. Fewer people whose bodies are still working will agree to donate their organs. A stupid "zionist" rabbis decision.
14. brain death: #7
Ahuva ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (11.02.09)
Just to clarify, someone whose heart is pumping, is, by definition, NOT brain dead. The debate is whether, in a case where the heart stopped beating on its own and is being mechanically pumped BECAUSE THE DEAD BRAIN DOES NOT HAVE THE CAPACITY TO DO IT ON ITS OWN AS IT NORMALLY WOULD, the person should be considered dead, since he is totally dependent on technology to continue. Sure, I'm nervous about the possibility of over-eager doctors harvesting organs early. However, I believe most doctors understand the great responsibility to ALL their patients.
15. #7
P ,   Philadelphia   (11.02.09)
With modern technology, we could probably remove a heart from a human body and keep it alive. That doesn't make it a person. That honour belongs to the brain.
16. Simple solution...
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (11.02.09)
Everybody should be forced to register their last wishes with their family Dr. and the info should be available on your ID cards. If you want to be buried or cremated, if you want your organs donated or not, if you are suspected of being murdered will you allow an autopsy to be performed on your body or not, if you're in a comma at what point do you give permission or not to "pull the plug". It's a personal matter and the choice should be thought out by each individual and officially documented, so the rest of us can get on with our lives.
17. Ynet is for idiots
Jack Auden   (11.03.09)
Once again, Ynet has completely distorted the truth for a catchy headline. Haredim do not believe organ donation is murder, they believe that organ donation under the current system is. If they would allow certain donors the right to be looked at by a doctor and a Rabbi of their choosing, who would the patient dead, according to their definition (heart failure in addition to brain dead) then they would consider it a mitzva to donate organs. I do not see why the government refuses to work with the Charedim and realize that death is a sensitive issue.
18. Decisions, decisions
Ben ,   Monroe USA   (11.05.09)
Would you ask a engineer for a cure for cancer? No. Then why ask a rabbi whether or not an organ transplant should be done. That is strictly within the knowledge of certain doctors; period. Have you ever met a human being who has been given another organ in order to live a normal life? Do you think it matters who the donor was? Friends, when a comerade was wounded in WWII, if a blood transfusion was necessary, who cared whose blood was used just as long as it sufficed to to save your buddies life. So organs which save lives are used. Religious bias, color bias, should have no bearing. By the way, heart failure is not equivalent of brain dead. People who have had heart failure still do think and enjoy life. Have a personal friend who has this problem yet has made trips to Israel and China and returned alive to the USA.
