1. Great day for democracy?
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (11.01.09)
It's not a great day for democracy when this guy is held in jail for days without being allowed to see his attorney. For all we know they could be forcing confessions out of him.
2. Don't know Israeli law but any evidence obtained from him
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.01.09)
before hearing his rights would not be admitted in a court of law. Of course, from what I have seen on Ynet, there is often no sense of law shown in police actions in Israel. The courts seem to act on the whim of the day rather than consistent fact. Without doubt the "professor" has harmed Israel but that does not qualify him for being killed. If Teitel is mentally unstable then he can be treated in a locked facility. Arabs get away with murdering multiple Jews and he is certainly no worse than Marwan Bargooti, murderer of 5 Jews, and who the terrorists want released for the kidnapped Shalit.
3. 1 + 1 = 3 here
Oleh ,   Haifa   (11.01.09)
According to reports, he has been extremely careful to avoid being caught - even wearing gloves while putting up flyers so his finger prints wouldn't be found, yet he confesses to multiple murders and bombings so easily? Hmm...
4. EQUAL TREATMENT
Equitible Justice ,   Israel   (11.01.09)
If the allegations are true and he is convicted he should have the EXACT same harsh treatment as all the Arab terrorists get! He should be condemned to have comfortable living, a television, a phone, regular family visits, all the amenities of a hotel, and of course, get out of jail in a couple years. I mean, fair is fair.
5. Please ....
Sarah B ,   New York / Saviyon   (11.01.09)
"Balad Chairman Jamal Zahalka said that, "This terrorist grew up in the racist, fascist swamp of the Israeli occupation. Only by draining this swamp can we stop people like him… forgiveness of racial and fascist rhetoric only encourages people like Teitel and there are many others like him." Oh, many, many. The overwhelming majority of them Arab. Please don't lose sight of that. Palestinians have sown the wind with sixty-one years of unrelenting, devastating terror. That means that they have forfeited their right to complain when the time comes for them to reap the whirlwind. Harsh? Absolutely. True? Absolutely.
6. To those who don't believe there is evidence
david Levy   (11.01.09)
In the case of the ortiz family there is security camera video showing who placed the bomb on their doorstep.
7. Just out of curiosity
Arie ,   BaGolan   (11.02.09)
What would Sternhell know about a democracy? He spends all his time lecturing to destroy the State of Israel in favor of yet one more Hamastan. To him, Judaism and Democracy are mutually exclusive and he speaks of that abomination daily. No less sanctimonious self-righteousness than Nazirallah and Ahmadinejad
8. Jamal Zahalka? ARE YOU NUTS?
shadoil ,   Jerusalem   (11.02.09)
"This terrorist grew upin the swamp of Israeli occupation"? He grew up in the USA. What an JERK you are! Get your facts straight Mr.!
9. Ze'ev Sternhell
Zvi ,   Rehaviah   (11.02.09)
Who let him out of the asylum? Who rattled his cage?
