1. he should be condemned
realist   (11.02.09)
disgusting.
2. "None of his relatives know where in the US he came from"
David ,   Los Angeles   (11.02.09)
Yeah, right. Typical lies from relatives and associates trying to cover their tails and to paint this guy as having a mental problem, rather than as a violent terrorist product of their own ideology. How could his wife not know where in the US he came from? Didn't she ever ask? Did he not answer? What a load of lies!
3. I guess to this family this is not one of those "innocent
Rivkah   (11.02.09)
until proven guilty" and "stand by your man" stories. In America, a lot of wives want their husbands to be in jail so they can get Social Security benefits while he is incarcerated. Face it. The truth is that all men are liars in some way. At least it wasn't another woman. And who knows? MAYBE he is innocent. If not, wait for him to get out of jail while collecting all those benefits. When you consider that 1600 people are added to the terrorist list by the FBI in America EVERY DAY without reasonable suspicion, that makes being called a terrorist a little suspicious. Under the Bush II administration, anyone who commited a misdemeanor (even a minor traffic offense) was technically a "terrorist". As a retired pharmacist, I have known many women who came to the drugstores who waited for their man to get out of prison for various offenses. One of the sweetest was a young woman named Sandra Ascevedo who faced waiting 12 years for her partner and father of her child to be released from a California prison for firing a gun on a street that did not harm anyone. Every Sunday, Sandra and her partner's parents and the baby Gerardo go to the prison to see Antonio Tafolla. The little baby flaps his wings (arms) and squeals in happiness to see Papa. Sandra has been faithfully waiting for four years, now, never dating another man, living with her parents and Antonio's parents. They feel that prison will help Antonio to grow up and learn a job skill and get an education. Is abandoning the "good" husband and father when he needs his family the most the best thing to do? How will he ever reform without those he loves? He lied, but all men lie. Some get caught and some don't.
4. Different attitudes toward terror
Shalom   (11.02.09)
"Teitel family: We were living a lie . . . say family feels deceived 'by a psychopath who was leading a double life' Note that no Jew, be it right or left, has come out in defence of Teitel. Now compare this to an arab terrorist, and the hero worship he receives.
5. Moshe Avitan, why cut off family, kids? They didn't do it!
WRP   (11.02.09)
What a stupid act. The father is a bad apple, so you cut off ties to his family and kids?! I dont' know who is nuttier!

Avi ,   Israel   (11.02.09)
surely there must be some Nobel prize for that one ?
8. after what he did to the mesianic jew
ghostq   (11.02.09)
he should rot in hell not just jail, and it's good to know that jews don't eccept this type of behavior, imagin if he was a Muslim he would have got warm praises, that the huge difference betwen the 2, one(jews) denounce Murders while the other(Muslims) indorse them.
9. to #7 back off, rivkh is very nice lady
ghostq   (11.02.09)
you r not man of your word calling for excepting others, while you don't practice what you preach none none like your kind and by your kind I mean Israeli lefties.
10. why should wife stand by him?
(11.02.09)
I mean really do we go and stand by a pilot who hijacks his own plane and uses it to harm others? Poor woman may very well have been decieved in which case she should divorce him before he gets declared mentally incompetant and it becomes very difficult for her to get a Get (Divorce)!
11. #9 Ghostey spook off
Avi ,   Israel   (11.02.09)
dont pretend you know me , maybe Rivka and Ghostey are the same person - rather like Norman bates and his mother - ummmmm
12. Over 10,000 arab terrorists live a life of comfort in
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.02.09)
Israeli jails and many of them have murdered Jews and many have murdered more than one Jew. They order their food, cook it to their personal delight and there is such a hue and cry to throw a Jew away, lock the cell and throw away the key, BEFORE their is a trial. Who among you would not admit to murdering both your parents after weeks of intensive interrogative pressure by skilled manipulators? He had NO lawyer advise him of his rights. Of course not, they wanted to break him and make him admit to ANYTHING that he did or didn't do. He may be guilty of one or more crimes but that is why there is a TRIAL. No need, you have already convicted him, just put him in a dark, dank cell without access to a single resourse for the rest of his life. After all, that is what they did to Pollard, why not him?
13. 6 Anonymouse: No. But remember King David had
Rivkah   (11.02.09)
a lapse of faith and had Uriah killed. did David's wives divorce him? No. Did God punish David? Yes. David lost his intimacy with the Lord and his sons went wild as a punishment. Amnon raped his half sister Tamar. Absalom tried to usurp David's throne by raping some of David's concubines and was killed. Adonijah rebelled against Solomon, wanting one of David's concubines and was put to death. Considering all that, maybe the Rivka in this situation should leave her husband; but then she would miss out on all those Social Security benefits for the families of prisoners she could draw on for the many decades he will be in prison if he is not put to death. But death sentences take decades to go through the courts with all the appeals. He confessed, so many he will get life instead of a death sentence since he is cooperating. But King David's wives stayed with him for better or worse, perhaps because they had no choice. It iscertain that if Batsheva had left David her son Solomon would not have become King and her son Nathan would not have been in the line of the Messiah, Rabbi Yehoshua. Now you see there were murders in the line of the Messiah, but not divorces. So divorce must be worse than staying in a marriage even when the husband is a murderer and goes to prison. David Loo of Lemoore, California, was shot by his wife who was insane many years ago and nearly died. She went to prison for nine years and when she was released, David took her home. She died this year and David buried her and mourned her. Why? He loved her because she gave him the two children who are now grown that David loves as his own soul. The Rivka in this article should consider that aspect. If she loves her children, the man she married gave them to her and is therefore worth something even if only a few shekels each week to ease his burden.
14. ??
Waiting for proof ,   Israel   (11.02.09)
What about "innocent til proven guilty"?? On the TV news last night they said that he admitted to the attack in the gay club in Tel Aviv, yet there is proof that he couldn't have been there. Maybe he's innocent in all the cases? Let's wait and see. Also, as to where he came from in the States, didn't anyone ever see his birth certificate? In order to marry in Israel, someone who was born abroad has to bring all kinds of papers, including birth certificate and parents' ketuba and letters from rabbis stating that he's Jewish. So someone must know where he came from.
15. to #11 lol me and rivkah r not the same
ghostq   (11.02.09)

16. to #14 it wasn't him, balistics ruled out

17. Seems Like He Is A Zealot...
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (11.02.09)
as was Pinchos HaKohen.
18. proof he's not working alone...
(11.02.09)
1. he was taken to the area of "Mahaz Adi Ad" at 1 a.m. and upon seeing two residents of Mahaz Adi Ad Teitel said: "Lo Masarti" (I didn't inform) 2. during one of his interrogations he was brought before two other residents of Alon Rachel and Teitel said: "An Lahem Din Moser" (You don't carry the penalty of informer) So if he is an unstable loner functioning without assistance and infrastructure why would he say such things?
19. Rivkah u know that this man attacked a messianic family
(11.02.09)
You are messianic - so why r u defending him? Is it that very x-tian thing of turning the other cheek which allows you to defend a terrorist?
20. Bunnie Meyer, stay in the US and just shut up!
(11.02.09)
21. ghostq , 9
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (11.02.09)
rivka is very nice lady ? Your taste , not mine . She can only tell nice stories about how she was poisoned in a restaurant here , how a family of her was murdered in a hospital . You certainly know that she did'nt want children ? too expensive . That she prefers her pets above Humans [ maybe you have a chance ! ] Not to tell how she "lives" , how she "walks" around ! If someone had to live everything that happened to her , to know all the people she "knows" , this person should have to live some centuries . But the same as you do : she makes us laugh , but with a much better English as you do
22. #15 Ghostey- who you going to call
Avi ,   Israel   (11.02.09)

23. Something is'nt clear here

So many guns , explosives and so in his home , but his wife did'nt know anything ?
24. Teitel
Ruth Siegman ,   Bet Shemesh, Israel   (11.02.09)
Shouldn't this article have given more information about Teitel's alleged crimes and motives for committing these alleged crimes? Was he tried and convicted? Much pertinent information appears to be missing from this article. Ruth Siegman Bet Shemesh
25. Still a lot of information missing.
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (11.02.09)
But from what's available it's quite clear that we have a dangerous and careful man here, most likely operating alone to avoid any loose ends or chances of his activities leaking out. He managed to outsmart the police and customs officials for years, his neighbors, his few friends, even his family... from what I gather he was pretty much the signature lone wolf operator. He even taught himself how to make explosives. What I find alarming is how long he managed to stay out of sight. From the news, the one time he was arrested before for a suspected nationalist crime, it wasn't one he committed - that means he was on the radar as a potentially dangerous man, and yet he managed to get out of the police's sight again. That, if anything, is a signal of incompetence - he should have been watched, marked as a potential danger, investigated further. And yet he wasn't.
26. # 14
Birdi ,   Israel   (11.02.09)
True what you say about providing proof of being Jewish when marrying in Israel (for a new immigrant) It was stated in a previous Y Net article that he was born in Florida & he & his family moved to West Virginia.

28. two possibilities
joseph ,   Israel   (11.02.09)
Teitel may or may not be guilty, but the story is strange. The GSS arrested him and did not let him see a lawyer for a few weeks. Who better than Leftists and Arabs know how the GSS can "convince" people to admit to any crime. Teitel's wife was separated from her nursing baby. Can we be sure he did not admit to anything to save his baby's life? The GSS alleges that he smuggled 4 assault rifles into Israel from the US. How many people really believe this is possible? Teitel admitted attacking Sternhell, but why would he? Sternhell was a unknown third rate nobody. If Teitel wanted to attack a professor, there were plenty more famous ones. And of course the timing is suspicious, exactly in time for the Rabin Day celebrations. It will be interesting to see whether Teitel will be given a fair trial or the case will be dismissed to protect sources or the GSS will "convince" Teitel to sign a plea bargain.
29. to #22 the fact that you stuck in the 80's
ghostq   (11.02.09)
is scary. anyway this got nothing to do with the loony that with plenty of hope is going to hell, people like Teitel is among everyone, in every western society there is nut job or a rotten apple that hurt others. this one is no different the setelment issue is well just excuse cause he had problems with the athorities when he was in the USA, trust me if it wasn't setelment he would have found other victims.
30. 27 , you don't understand ANYTHING
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (11.02.09)
