A libel is a legal term, when you tell a lie with the intent to cause harm (physical, economical, etc.) The term blood libel comes form early in history and used repeatedly during the Middle Ages, when Christian?Catholic communities would accuse Jews of killing Christian children to use their blood in the making of the Passover unleavened bread. Whole Christian communities persecuted, tortured and killed Jews based on this baseless lie. If anyone would have researched the question they would have found that dietary laws of the Jews forbid any sort of blood to remain in the meat before it is consumed, among other things. Just like this Swede so called journalist did not bother to research the question of organ harvesting and how are the organs supposed to be kept for transplants...for sure you cannot use organs of cadavers about to be buried or some other very tall tales told in his stories. He was just trying to cause harm to the IDF with his libelous claims...

But to explain it briefly: it is the false accusation (from people and priests) mainly in the middle ages in Europe that Jews killed chidren to mix their blood with the unleavened bread used in Passover Seders. True, but Bostrom's motivation has nothing to do with truth or fact-finding. There is no shortage of groups throughout the world that have invited him to speak, and he is commanding a 100,000 euro honorarium per appearance. His motives are purely pecuniary. Sad, isn't it, that his financial goals trump humanity and decency and truth? That's okay. A blood libel is a baseless accusation that Jews use the blood of Christians especially children for ritual purposes. This accusation was then used as an excuse to slaughter Jews. It was invented in England. The allegation of Bostrom was not based on fact and was made in order to stir up hatred against Israel. It also plugged into age old anti-Semitism or Judeaphobia whatever you want to call it by claiming that Jews do unspeakable things to the bodies of non-Jews and steal their body parts.

Jew hater today is a more accurate term, but 'antisemite' or 'antisemitism' are terms of art created in the 19 century Europe to refer to people opposed to European Jews, as a race of people. Blood libel is a libel having its roots in Middle Ages (I thing 1200s) England where a Christian child was killed and Jews were accused of killing him in a ritual murder and taking his blood for making Passover Mazoh. It ended, predictably, with the slaughter of some innocent Jews innocent Jews were tortured until they confessed and those who didn't confess were tortured to death. The Catholic Church in the end officially declared blood libel against the Jews to be a lie, but it continues to live in one form or another. Since that time the accusation was used and reenacted across Europe until quite recently. In post WW2 Poland rumors were spread of children kidnapped and murdered by Jews and as a result there were pogroms in which Jewish Holocaust survivors, man women and children were murdered, the most well known being Kielce pogrom in 1946. The amazing thing is that this libel arose despite a very strong prohibition in Judaism to use any blood, not just human, for food, hence special rules for kosher slaughter of animals. When Bostrom brings on his baseless allegations of organ removal from Arabs, it is a variation on the old theme of accusation of Jews killing Christians for their blood (a life force.) Now blood libel in all its forms is very popular in the Arab World, popularized by slanderous television shows in Egypt and across the Islamic World.

But YOU are the one who made the allegations and lied about it. YOU made the entire story up in order to defame Israel and sell your sensationalist newspaper, with even the "palestinians" you interviewed claiming they never made such an allegation. What must be investigated is your blatant lies and disrespect for law and ethical journalism.

Only one positive thing came out of this event: the Israeli public, especially the young men and women who have not been abroad for any length of time, could see and hear a racist, an anti-Jewish racist, right in front of them. How impartial was this investigation when the very families Bostrom said made the claims told other reporters that they never made such claims. And how impartial is this "investigation" that Bostrom admitted to taking many freedoms by "guessing" what the situation was on very partial evidence? Sounds like Bostrom was out to find a sensational story to sell his papers with....and no one (except you) agrees this is any type of professional journalism....that is, unless it was by Nazis during WWII.
