1. very nice to take out the site but it's not enough
Matt T.   (11.02.09)
to stop terror you must kill the people - that means bomb Damascus to smithereens when they pull something like that, otherwise it will just keep happening - the terrorists only need to do it right once... ditto with Teheran, why is it still extant? Weak, weak, weak - weak wussy "leaders" that's all I can say.

Would Goldstone judge this overkill to be a War Crime?
4. Iran

This article just proves to show that what appeared on the surface to be an Israeli strke on a Syrian nuclear facility, was actually much more complex. One cannot ignore the implications this must have had on Iran. It is implied from this article that Iran was planning on using the Kibar reactor as a spare for their own reactor if things went pear shaped. Perhaps they were planning on duping the west by caving in to sanctions while secretly accessing the Syrian reactor. It just goes to show that things are not always what they seem. At least thank G_d, so far G_d has watched over Israel and let her triumph over her vast enemies against all odds. G_d bless Israel!
5. Overkill?

No such thing exists. Either you wipe it out completely or it will be a failure. "Excessive"? Hardly. Better too much in a situation like this than too little.
6. A couple minor issues
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (11.02.09)
Der Spiegel claims that the elite forces sent in August 2007 were "spotted by the Syrian military and are forced to abort the operation." Bergman however in "The Secret War with Iran" (p.360) writes the operation "was almost exposed when a Syrian patrol drove past the landing site where the helicopters were parked." In any event, they got what they were after. This calendar of events doesn't address the skepticism on the part of some in Washington (Rice and others) who didn't support the strike until Israel provided the definitive evidence of what was going on there. (The US has limited on-ground intelligence in this area.) Regarding that evidence, it remains unclear if the pictures the CIA chose to release (which they didn't themselves obtain) came from on-site Israeli intelligence or from that compromised laptop. And neither Bergman nor Der Spiegel connect the US-Israeli silence after the strike to the US desire not to bring up N Korean culpability at a time the US was trying to strike a nuclear deal with them.

The facility that was bombed in Syria was in one location which was not difficult to fly over & bomb. The facilities in Iran are spread throughout Iran which makes in more difficult to bomb all at the same time.So no not "dumb wussy leaders" rather CAREFUL leaders.

12. To Israel: Why Wait Now is the Time
Dav Lev ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (11.03.09)
W/O Syria, Hez and Hamas are impotent. W/O Syria, it is unlikely any country would launch "The final jihad" against Israel. Egypt would balk. Iran..w/o nukes, faces Israel's 400 nukes..30m Iranian casualties in 1st 3wks, according to US general's report. We must ask, why are 30Iranian nuke sites operating now? Why are Hez/Hamas still viable? It's all politics folks. To Israel: strike NOW, don't wait. G-d is on the side of the Jews, not the pagans.
13. Missing key point...
yitzy ,   USA   (11.03.09)
"For the Israelis, it made little difference whether a few guards were killed or a larger number of people." This is a direct quote taken from the German article. Some chutzpah for the Germans who had no regard for Jewish life to make a comment like that. Thee are a whole bunch of more anti-Semitic references in it.
