1. Boy, those Turks
Sarah B ,   New York / Saviyon   (11.04.09)
sure are a classy act! Well, what can one expect from such a backward nation? Shame on the Turkish authorities for not providing the minimally requisite security. Despicable!
2. I have a GREAT idea!
Michael ,   austin, tx   (11.04.09)
How about if Turkey invites all the palestonians to come live in Turkey. How about if they say "Hey! palestonians!...please come live here and finally have some peace with your mooslim brothers in Turkey!"... Nah.....because deep down all moooslems hate palis more than anything else.
3. Turkey allows only a little damage. If they had wanted,
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.04.09)
there would be no damage. It wants to pretend it is ready to be part of the EU while being a terrorist base. No boys, you CAN'T have it both ways.
4. I will go and book my ticket to Turkey today...NOT!
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (11.04.09)
5. I wonder if the Turkish prime minister will appologize...

6. Hamas and Hizbullah are glorified in Turkey.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (11.04.09)
Radical Turkish Islamists have been organizing nightly programs in cities across Turkey under the slogan, “A free Al-Quds [the Muslim term for Jerusalem], A world without Israel.” The halls are decked out with photos of Hizbullah Chief Hassan Nasrallah and former Hamas Chief Ahmed Yassin. PLO flags are draped over the speaker’s podium. At the events, Hamas and Hizbullah are glorified as Israel and Western countries demonized, and jihadist speeches are delivered. Participants are offered the chance to donate to the groups or even to enroll in training to join them in their terrorist operations. Similar events are frequently held in the mainly Kurdish southeast and east of the country, with huge audiences turning out as efforts are increased to indoctrinate those populations.
7. #1 - I say break relations with the Turks
Eyal ,   USA`   (11.04.09)
We don't really need them. They do what they please and we just sit there like dead ducks telling the world we don't want to escalate the situation. Give me a break...Just go out in public and have one of our Knesset member say "if this is what Turkey wants, than bring it on and the hell with Erdogan". Another thing...Jews own Hollywood, why can't we make a film about the Turks and the Armenians?
8. SarahB
Hakan ,   Istanbul-Turkey   (11.04.09)
wrong sarah. Turks only show their hatred for you and your kind. We don't need your people here. A country such as turkey, who is part of the G-20,has a blooming economy, powerful army, etc doesn't need ties with a menace like israel. And oh,by the way,we would be more than happy to not see you ere as tourists.

10. #8 Hakan, here's a suggestion...
Nour ,   Palestine   (11.04.09)
Thanks for your solidarity. The entire world is waking up about this threat to world security and apartheid state of israel... I recommend that Turkey cut off relations completely until our human rights as Palestinian Arabs are reinstated...paving way for the one state solution. Of course, the racist Israelis will not allow that. The solution will be imposed. Stay tuned.
11. It is as if Israeli has become a pariah among nations
Yishai Cohen ,   Israel   (11.04.09)
It is frightening how much hatred is brewing against Israel around the world, so much so that it has almost become unsafe for even our dignitaries to travel without being attacked or being accused of being child murderers, something even former PM Ehud Olmert discovered during his recent trip to the US. It soon may not be safe for Israelis to travel anywhere openly for fear of being attacked, or worse yet arrested and charged with war crimes, if we do not do something to address this growing worldwide trend of Israel being seen as a pariah.
12. @hakan: what about the armenian genocide?

13. AMBASSADOR ATTACKED WITH EGGS
LAWRENCE RAP ARTISTE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (11.04.09)
Police were quickly SCRAMBLED while the ambassador tried to see things sunny side up.But this protest will not be effective as Israelis are too hard-boiled to bother.Seriously, let the stinking turks go to hell .

Sarah B ,   New York / Saviyon   (11.04.09)
No problema. I would not spend one thin lira in a country that has murdered thousands upon thousands of its peaceful Kurdish citizenry. Turkey is a vile nation. The genocide perpetrated against the Armenians puts you in fine company -- Nazi Germany. Ooh, wait. You WERE allies: Turkey, Syria and Iran deserve one another. Have loads of fun figuring how much faster you can all backpedal to reach the Islamic ideal of the 7th century. Don't look to the United States to help you in any meaningful way anytime soon:
15. SERIOUS BREECH OF SECURITY
LAWRENCE RAP ARTISTE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (11.04.09)
What if it had been something worse than eggs? I will throw dogshit at the Turks to show them EGGsactly what I think of them.We will then see who truly has egg on their face. And where was the bodyguard when all this occurred?.Israel should seriously consider breaking off relations with the antisemitic Erdogan and his fleapit country.Let them return to the dark ages as Israel progresses.

21. This time eggs
Zak ,   Milwaukee, USA   (11.04.09)
If students were able to attack the ambassador with eggs, it could just as easily have been with bullets. Part of me keeps thinking that this will blow over, that relations with Turkey will be knocked down a notch for now, but that relations will remain nonetheless. But imagine if Ambassador Levy was shot to death because of lax Turkish security? Would that be the death knell of diplomatic relations? Things could spiral out of control quickly. The Turkish leadership needs to tone down the anti-Israel incitement quickly before that happens. For now it’s the ambassador who was attacked. We Jews know far too well where these types of events lead. Next time Israeli tourists or even Turkish Jews could be attacked. It’s really sad and sick to see a nation like Turkey devolve like this.
22. sorry my brohers

lildoobird ,   Israel   (11.04.09)
Human rights? One has to be humane in order to recieve that privilage. Stop using "human" sheilds and educating your your youth to warfare in summer camps. Stop smuggling arms and stop cheating your own people out of billions of $'s. Then maybe you could start being considered human!
25. #11 It's Too Late, Israel Is A Pariah Among Nations
World Citizen ,   the world   (11.04.09)
The civilized world tried to tell Israel that they were doing wrong. Yet your government kept on. Lebanon and Gaza, the destruction of Palestinian farms, homes, and olive groves. The murder of hundreds of women and children non-combatants in your wars of aggression. The apartheid structure of your society and the overtly racist nature of your culture. Sooner or later it was going to catch up with Israel. Well, as you guessed, it has. The light of justice has Israel in its spotlight. It's not a pretty sight.
26. to #11, no you're not.
European   (11.04.09)
That some students aren't the brightest is not new (US protests). And that the Turkish and Arab public hates Israel isn't new either. You'll never be a pariah state just because of these idiots. The millions who love you don't make it in the news, but they exist.
27. #10 Thank you Nour
Jake   (11.04.09)
"paving way for the one state solution...Of course, the racist Israelis will not allow that. The solution will be imposed" Yes we already know that you and Abbas and Fatah and everyone else from the Palestinians Arabs were never interested in the 2 State solution, a lie manufactured for the mass media to dupe the West into supporting them. But thanks for admitting it. But ask yourself why Turkey, whose record of human rights is not exactly spotless, decided to show its contempt for Israel and support "the rights of the Palestinians". Turkey is in the process of rolling back the reforms of Kemal Ataturk and moving back to the dark ages death cult. And, as they say, birds of a feather flock together.

Sarah B ,   New York / Saviyon   (11.04.09)
Here's a reality check for you with respect to your "Palestinian farms, homes, and olive groves." This is what Mark Twain, great American authority, when he traveled to Palestine: "Of all the lands there are for dismal scenery, I think Palestine must be the prince. The hills are barren, they are dull of color, they are unpicturesque in shape. The valleys are unsightly deserts fringed with a feeble vegetation that has an expression about it of being sorrowful and despondent. The Dead Sea and the Sea of Galilee sleep in the midst of a vast stretch of hill and plain wherein the eye rests upon no pleasant tint, no striking object, no soft picture dreaming in a purple haze or mottled with the shadows of the clouds. Every outline is harsh, every feature is distinct, there is no perspective -- distance works no enchantment here. It is a hopeless, dreary, heart-broken land. " "Palestine sits in sackcloth and ashes. Over it broods the spell of a curse that has withered its fields and fettered its energies. Where Sodom and Gomorrah reared their domes and towers, that solemn sea now floods the plain, in whose bitter waters no living thing exists -- over whose waveless surface the blistering air hangs motionless and dead -- about whose borders nothing grows but weeds, and scattering tufts of cane, and that treacherous fruit that promises refreshment to parching lips, but turns to ashes at the touch. Nazareth is forlorn; about that ford of Jordan where the hosts of Israel entered the Promised Land with songs of rejoicing, one finds only a squalid camp of fantastic Bedouins of the desert; Jericho the accursed, lies a moldering ruin, to-day, even as Joshua's miracle left it more than three thousand years ago; Bethlehem and Bethany, in their poverty and their humiliation, have nothing about them now to remind one that they once knew the high honor of the Saviour's presence; the hallowed spot where the shepherds watched their flocks by night, and where the angels sang Peace on earth, good will to men, is untenanted by any living creature, and unblessed by any feature that is pleasant to the eye. Renowned Jerusalem itself, the stateliest name in history, has lost all its ancient grandeur, and is become a pauper village; the riches of Solomon are no longer there to compel the admiration of visiting Oriental queens; the wonderful temple which was the pride and the glory of Israel, is gone, and the Ottoman crescent is lifted above the spot where, on that most memorable day in the annals of the world, they reared the Holy Cross. The noted Sea of Galilee, where Roman fleets once rode at anchor and the disciples of the Saviour sailed in their ships, was long ago deserted by the devotees of war and commerce, and its borders are a silent wilderness; Capernaum is a shapeless ruin; Magdala is the home of beggared Arabs; Bethsaida and Chorazin have vanished from the earth, and the "desert places" round about them where thousands of men once listened to the Saviour's voice and ate the miraculous bread, sleep in the hush of a solitude that is inhabited only by birds of prey and skulking foxes." It was a barren, desolate and virtually uninhabited and uninhabitable place until the Jews came in the First Aliyah and lovingly restored it. They drained the swamps, and reforested the Galilee and made the desert bloom -- and that is when the Arabs decided it was something they might want to claim as their own. The problem is, the Arabs have been spouting their nonsense for so long, they have probably come to believe it themselves. That doesn't make it true.
