1. Israelis never intended to tolerate new terror state.
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.04.09)
The vast majority of Israelis never intended to tolerate a new terror state in the heart of our sole, tiny Homeland. It is only a small, though vehement and noisy post-Zionist leftists who nurtured this evil delusion. The pro-Two State Final Solution left is being decimated in Israeli elections. We reject it's sick, evil agenda todally. This tiny land is ours. Period.
2. Perhaps an alternative is the implementation of 242 as is.
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (11.04.09)
United Nations Security Council Resolution 242 has been the one governing all peace negotiations and agreements so far, e.g. Israel-Egypt, Israel-Jordan. It is time to focus on 242 and implement it as is. 242 does not mention at all the setting up of yet another state between the River and the Sea. Nor does 242 mention the concepts of "Palestinians", "Palestine" or "Palestinian state". Instead, 242, wisely, came to resolve the Arab Israel conflict - since this what it is and not a Palestinian Israeli one - by recognizing the existence of each of the warring states and the need of each to exist within agreed and secure boundaries. Such boundaries would be reached by negotiations between the warring parties and part of the implementation would be Israel withdrawal of its troops from "territories" - not all territories!!! - captured during the defensive Six-Day War of June 1967. The end result: Egypt assumes control over the Gaza Strip while Jordan over much of the West Bank. I think this is the only reasonable alternative.
3. :: One state solution
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (11.04.09)
If Israel doesn't cede its illegal settlements in the WB than a One State Solution is the only way forward. A One State Solution is quite feasible, after all Israel has, over the decades, proven that it can absorb thousands of new immigrants over the decades (including non-Jews) so it should have no problem absorbing the populations of Gaza and the WB. Under a One State Solution these Palestinian-Israelis will greatly enhance the culture and politics of Israel. Of course Israel will have to giove up this notion of a purely 'Jewish State'.
4. Why is it okay for everyone else but not for us?
Sam   (11.04.09)
Why is it okay for countries all over the world to have population swaps but Israel is not allowed to?
5. yes, abandon idea of statehood
Paul ,   Sarasota   (11.04.09)
Israel should split West Bank with Jordan and Gaza with Egypt. Let Arab residents choose which state they want to be part of.
6. sounds good to me
atikva ,   zion   (11.04.09)
if the palestinians want to remain as they are fine with me .. eventually when they acquire enough wealth they will no longer want to risk losing it in a war with israel. Bibi is right, the way to peace is through propserity. of course, palestinians are such a bunch of self destrcutive nit jobs, so it is likely that once they do improve life on the street, some idiot will come along and lit a fuse destroying everything ... they can't help themsleves, they have been doing if for centuries.
7. my advice
Aziz ,   Jordan   (11.04.09)
For all my Palestinian brothers is to come live in Jordan, it is the true Palestine, when all Palestinians are on the East Bank we can overthrow the Hashemite tyrant and have a true two state solution. Asalam
8. Let the building begin!!
Allan ,   Ft. Lauderdale   (11.04.09)
9. Great News!
Shoshi ,   Jerusalem   (11.04.09)
This is great news! This would be absolutely wonderful if they would finally abandon a "Palestinian" state. It's not supposed to be anyway, since all the land they want for their Arab state belongs to the Jews and it is forbidden for us to give it away. The Scriptures say nothing about a state for the Arabs side by side to us. The borders for our Jewish State is clearly spelled out in the Scriptures. So....give it up Erekat.
10. Ereket et. al waking up from their coma
Nour ,   Palestine   (11.04.09)
About time! When will the elitist, corrupt, and collaborationist Fatah realize that it's only in our long-term interest that they impose the one-state solution on Israel? Israel is helping us by building settlements so why not regard the dumb+unsuspecting Lieberman as a partner?! Demography is on our side, even inside Israel of '48, so what is the problem? Fatah and the PLO should stop wasting so much resources on useless shuttle diplomacy and instead pour all their effort and money into civil and international initiatives that would accelerate the one state solution and the reinstatement of full Palestinian Arab human and political rights within the single state framework! A step closer to implementing the right of return. Amen.
11. Mr. Erekat is smart
Israeli 2   (11.04.09)
At least he woke up. "Good morning, E."
12. Single Secular State is the best option
Joseph Blough ,   NY, USA   (11.04.09)
The Palestinians should simply surrender to the Israelis and admit defeat. The captured Palestinian civilians would have to be given the option of either accepting Israeli citizenship or emigrating to the USA or European countries along with the millions of Palestinian refugees , but most I'm sure would stay in their conquered homeland. It is by far the easiest and quickest road to peace as all it requires is the unilateral dissolution of the PA.
13. Blackmail
vered ,   israel   (11.04.09)
14. One bi-national state
Adam ,   Australia   (11.04.09)
Equal rights for all, Arabs, Jews, Christians, Muslims. Half the Knesset would be Arab and the other half Jewish. Israel would no longer just be a "Jewish" state and so there would be less disdain for it in the World and no one would call it apartheid anymore. And of course Jews and Arabs would have to learn to co-exist and work together to build Israel into a great nation. Thats what Jews want...isnt it?? The days of the 2-state solution are fading...bring on the one-state solution!!
15. It's a good idea
Keren ,   IL-BR   (11.04.09)
It's a good idea that a Palestinian state project be abandoned. We Jews had been wandering for 2000 years untill reach our once lost home. We always faced courageously the injust realities against us , letting one place where we had created roots to go to another and another and another. That let in us many scars but at the same time it was justly that what made us grow espiritually,intelectually.... So why to fear? Why are palis and arabs in general so afraid and want to keep linked to a people that are not their own? I am sure that the day they overcome such a flaw and go away, peace will be upon the earth.
16. Another Alternative...
Barry ,   USA   (11.04.09)
would be for the Arab residents of Judea/Samaria to drop their 'all or nothing' stance and sit down like human beings and negotiate a workable agreement. Israel would be more than forthcoming and they know that. Unfortunately "live and let live" is not in their lexicon.
17. Palestinians never wanted their own state
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (11.04.09)
They have always wanted the Jewish state.
18. #7 I wish more Arabs thought like you
Yaniv ,   Israel   (11.04.09)
Yes, Jordan is the real Arab Palestine and west of the river to the sea is Jewish Palestine. That's how it should and that's how peace will come.
19. Every day it is a new song with Mr. A
AlbertoGA ,   St. George, USA   (11.04.09)
The only solution is for them to move to Jordan, the Palestinian State. On top of this bonus, they will have a King ... Nice No ? Now as far as Gaza is concerned move the bunch of Terrorist to Egypt. Gaza is their invention, and a very bad invention.
20. To: Eitan at No. 2
Sarah B ,   New York / Saviyon   (11.04.09)
That would put Israel squarely back to June 5, 1967 with respect to Egypt and Jordan. I am NOT prepared to return one square inch of Jerusalem. Nor am I absolutely sure that the cessation of hostilities that Israel has entered into with Egypt and Jordan are lasting. Neither regime is all that stable, particularly Egypt. How would this work for you: At the time Israel acquired Gaza, Judea and Samaria, Gazans were Egyptian citizens, and the residents of Judea and Samaria were citizens of Jordan. What if Israel were to annex Gaza, Judea and Samaria, and return the residents of those areas to the countries of their respective citizenships? I am much more comfortable with an Israel that is not nine miles across at its narrowest, and I am not prepared to endure the emotional wrench of what Israel endured when it ceded back the Sinai and Gush Qatif. Contemplate that a thousandfold, and you will have a small sense of what would ensue were Israel to attempt to dismantle any of the well-established settlements in Judea and Samaria. Forty-two years have passed since the territories were acquired. Let's just make the de facto control de jure, and send the terrorist elements packing to the nations of their birth -- Jordan and Egypt, respectively.
21. No negotiations! Israel won the war and must dictate the....
terms!   (11.04.09)
22. Kick all Arabs out like all Jews were kicked out of
Arabs to Arab ,   countries!   (11.04.09)
Arab countries!
23. what about the 1 million jews kicked out of arab countries?
rachel ,   usa   (11.04.09)
24. Population Swaps?
Richard Waid ,   New York   (11.04.09)
Is that an euphemism for ethnic cleansing? Would it include Israel taking in all the American Jews who support apartheid in Israel, and American funding of slaughter in Gaza and other Israeli crimes?
25. Contemplate this
Sarah B ,   New York / Saviyon   (11.04.09)
Erekat's statement is designed to keep the ordinary Palestinians from enquiring too closely as to the disposition of the billions of euros and billions of dollars that have poured into the Palestine Authority's coffers. Wouldn't know it by looking at the basket case that are the autonomous regions that have been administered by the Palestine Authority for twenty years now. No infrastructure, no industry, no economy, 40% unemployment -- and no possibility for Erekat to explain it all away without admitting to the real disposition of all that money: fancy homes in Europe and hefty offshore bank accounts. Fatah, Hamas, PFLP -- different names, same corruption. Were I not so sick to death of Palestinian terror and their constant whining and unending pity parties -- I could almost feel sorry for the ordinary Palestinians. No. I don't. The Palestinians wanted autonomy and they got it. Have done NOTHING with it, but, hey, that's their problem, not Israel's.
26. Erekat must abandon his black-and-white thinking
usa   (11.04.09)
Leave the Jewish settlements issue alone and when the State of Palestine is mandated you can govern your territory according to the terms upon which you've agreed. Palestine has to accept Jews and Christians living among them just as Israel allows Arabs of all religions to live in their State. Palestinian leaders lose legitimacy when they complain about apartheid but then put it into practice by demanding limits to the Jewish presence in their midst.
27. The choice
Jean-Pierre ,   France   (11.04.09)
Israel has the choice : if Israel wants a one-state solution, it will go to either an apartheid state or an etnic-cleansing of palestinian (probably both). But it will never more be a democratic state, and never more a friend of occidental countries. Why dont you put as much effort to built peace than to make war ?
28. judaism is a religion not a race
