He never has done anything for peace.

4. Scooping turds as an art form
Mea   (11.06.09)
is another description of how to find a viable candidate in an utterly corrupt society. Don't ask the people of Israel and the people of the USA (who likely have to give tax dollars towards "rehabiliating" whatever piece of shit is chosen, to accept another Islamic shitfest refprmated as a so-called election. It's bullshit, it's a lie and it is TIME to call it what it is and DEMAND that the beloved and christlike pure Palestinians got off their asses and grasp the democratic election process-especially if other people have to pay for it through our sweat.
5. Barghouti is serving 5 life terms...

6. In Case of A Third " INTIFADA " ...
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem - ISRAEL   (11.06.09)
It appears that nothing is better than honesty and candor at this juncture.I have survived all Israeli-Arab wars since June 1967 and two so-called " Intifadas " by Palestinians ( 1987 & 2000 ) . I am not sorry or scared to make it clear that I am already mighty fed up with the all those glamorous, perfidious,PLO & Palestinian Authority personnel . It is clear beyond doubt those two useless and sterile Palestinian bodies want to indoctrinate us that we have to sacrifice our lives ( and human life is mighty dear ) while those PLO & PA people who superficially do a lot of " office work " are opportunistic,exploitative,foul-smelling,stinking crooks who enjoy travelling around the world ,spending money left and right, and enriching themselves off our backs and off the Palestinian Cause. I have had enough myself , and I have a strong hunch that the Palestinian cause could have been resolved a long time ago had those PLO & PA impostors not made of the cause of their poverty-stricken people a prosperous business enterprise and a self-serving lucrative trade. Should a third " intifada " break out I certainly would not be part of it nor would I sympathise with it. I should decide for myself which path to follow . I do not need anybody to try to tell me what to do ... ! Abdel Karim Salim Sharif Jerusalem
7. It's All Irrelevant: Israel Must Destroy Hamas
Dav Lev ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (11.06.09)
It doesn't matter at all. Hamas won't accept anyone who is against their view of the 100yr old conflict between Jew and Arab. They have said thousands of times, they want a state for Muslims only, Judenrein so to speak. Whether Abbas or Arafat, they both said one thing to Western govts (and people) and the opposite to their own Arabs-Muslims. So who cares really? To Israel: enter Gaza, break it up into 3 parts..disable Hamas...force a govt in the W. Bk to your specifications. Otherwise, look for more of the same..next time maybe with Fajrs and Shihabs.
8. Beware the vaccuum created by an empty suit oozing away.

11. This is actually the opportunity to ask: Is there a place
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (11.06.09)
for the PA on earth? The entire peace process between Israel and its Arab neighbors has been based on UN Security Council Resolution 242, including the peace agreements between Israel and Egypt and Israel and Jordan. UNSC Resolution 242 does not mention at all concepts such as "Palestine", "Palestinians" or "Palestinian state". Indeed, it does not call for the establishment of an additional state between the River and the Sea. UNSC Resolution 242 does call upon Israel to withdraw its troops from "territories" - not all of them!!! - captured during the defensive Six-Day War of June 1967 to "secure and recognized" boundaries, and it does recognize the vitality of each of the states the took part in the conflict. Implicit in the Resolution is that Egypt should assume control over most of the Gaza Strip and Jordan over most of the West Bank, and doing so through talks and agreements with Israel. Perhaps this is the way to proceed: Apply UN Security Council Resolution 242, as is now.

14. Carpet bombing can create 100s new peace partners
Likud voter ,   Israel   (11.06.09)
Peace comes after the issues for the war have been resolved. Either Jews pack their bags and go back to diaspora, or Arabs settle for 22 Arab states and take the Fakestinians back and give them citizenship. But it's cheaper to hold them in refugee camps without rights and tell everyone that corruption and poverty is because of Israel. So we're left with only one option for peace - make the everlasting war too costly for their unelected leaders - the Hashemite tyrant and the Egyptian "president" - send them the citizens they left behind when retreating, armed with Israeli weapons to take their citizen rights back.
15. Who can replace Abbas?
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (11.06.09)
Mr. Hankey.
16. You forgot
Hum ,   Canada   (11.06.09)
You forgot to mention that Barghouti being behind bars also has a big advantage - being perceived as the next Nelson Mandela.
17. #1 What do you expect?
Addle ,   Toronto   (11.06.09)
From a guy who didn't even have the power to bring about peace seeing as the bigger offender here (Israel) prevents it from happening. But as Israel continues to build more illegal settlements on Palestinian land and threatens local populations with their soldiers and tanks, Palestinians must brace for what would be an inevitable one state solution. Hopefully by then, Palestinians would be in great numbers to be able to vote in someone who is really committed and peace and can do so immediately.
18. Why do you limit yourselves to corrupt Fatah?
Jerrold Cohen ,   Seal Beach, USA   (11.06.09)

23. #6 says it all
Israeli grandmother   (11.06.09)
Mr Abdel Karim Salim faces the unlovely facts. As a religious Jew who has also endured through all the useless wars and Intifada messes, I also long for the "Palestinians" to wake up and establish a true democracy and shake off the endemic corruption in their public life. No other group of people has manipulated world opinion or scraped into its clutches such huge sums of donor money, and worst of all, to so little benefit to the ordinary people. I also dont forget the plight of the genuine refugees who have been allowed to rot for over 60 years by their Arab "brothers" who except for some cases in Jordan have not even given them basic civic rights.
24. #6 you sound like a reasenable man , but
palestinian 48   (11.06.09)
do you realy beleive any of the factions involved have any say in any of the decisions made or to be made ? the book has been writen and published , please , dont sound so naive
25. No regrets for Abas!
Ron B. ,   Lod   (11.06.09)
Abbas took pride in the fact that he was the first terrorist in the struggle against Israel. "I had the honor of firing, in 1965, the first bullet of the 'resistance', he boasted. He added that it was his Fatah organization that taught Hizbullah and other terrorist organizations in the world how to run terrorist campaigns. Abbas, whose nom de guerre is Abu Mazen, said that he does not demand that Hamas - the terrorist movement that violently wrested control of Gaza from Fatah - recognize Israel at present.
26. Number 17
Anon ,   Johannesburg   (11.06.09)
Israel wanted peace, the Pal didnt want peace cause war is good for business and their back pocket.. Now Israel's are fed up - they no longer want peace with the Pal, they are waiting for the first chance of civil war to take the law into thier own hands (As the state does nothing anyways) and im scared to say... you will have a few hundred thousand dead Pal and the rest will escape to Jordan and Egypt. Its a matter of time- trust me the clock is ticking. Israel no longer wants peace - and the Pal are going to pay the ultimate price of their poor choice in leaders Hamas... PLO all the same power & money hungry. Israeli's will revert to 1948's method of winning wars - and with their outright fire power ... you can kiss the Palestinian cause goodbuy. Goldstone is nothing compared to the next report... the final report

28. One Jihadist will retire another Jihadist will take over
em Jordan is Pales ,   sf   (11.06.09)
They are all the same and believe in destruction of State of Israel, the only solution for this conflict is two State for two nations, Israel for Jews and Jordan Palestinian or what ever State, they are many Palestinians who believes Jordan is their State and Israel must start to support them.
29. I agree with # 11, and I am a Palestinian who lives in the
Hisham   (11.06.09)
West Bank. As part of Jordan, which now has 65 to 70 per cent Palestinians, I think we have a better chance to improve our lives and live them with peace. The Fatah and then the PLO's drive, historically, has been a mistake and we must admit it. It is at least good we have a UN resolution that we can use (242) to go in this direction.
30. To: Abdel Karim at No. 6
Sarah B ,   New York / Saviyon   (11.06.09)
I congratulate you for your clarity of vision and your willingness to speak the truth when most Palestinians seem to prefer to continue to be spoon-fed PA lies. Please pay heed to your physical safety. You say things which many Palestinians prefer not to hear -- particularly the so-called PA "leadership." The PA has a well-documented track record of how it deals with dissenting views. Do take care. I admire your bravery, your willingness to speak the truth and wish to continue reading your posts.
