Of course it is taught. It is called the War of Independence. I remind you that Israel declared statehood on May 14, 1948 and was invaded by five Arab armies on May 15, 1948. Your "nakba" was a catastrophe created by Arab leaders who could not deliver on their promise to "throw the Jews into the Sea." The Arabs that did not heed the call to leave to make way for the conquering Arab armies are Israeli citizens and enjoy one of the highest standards of living of Arabs anywhere. The architects of your "naqba" all happened to have been Arabs. Take up your quarrel with them.

Tony Judt, a prominent Jewish scholar who lives and works in New York, wrote recently: “Students today do not need to be reminded of the genocide of the Jews, the historical consequences of anti-Semitism, or the problem of evil. They know all about these – in ways our parents never did. And that is as it should be. But I have been struck lately by the frequency with which new questions are surfacing: `Why do we focus so much on the Holocaust?’ `Why is it illegal [in certain countries] to deny the Holocaust but not other genocides?’ `Is the threat of anti-Semitism not exaggerated?’ And, increasingly, `Doesn’t Israel use the Holocaust as an excuse?’ I do not recall hearing those questions in the past.” Tom Segev, a prominent Israeli writer, correctly said that the Holocaust has become "an object of worship."

The Diary of Anne Frank has become a classic that all should read because it's a true account of one family's experiences during WWII. I don't recall any mention of Zionism in the book, nor do I think anyone who reads it will become an ardent Zionist. I first read it when I was a young girl. It was not reading that book that caused me to be a Zionist. This censorship illustrates how organizations like Hezbollah want to keep their captive populace ignorant about any history that doesn't teach the approved history regarding Muslim suffering at the hand of 'infidels', or Muslims triumphing in war over the 'infidels'. How far back, in time, do the 'approved' lessons go in teaching the history of Lebanon? Do they teach any history of Lebanon when the country was controlled and run by the native Lebanese?

Who cares what Tony Judt, Tom Segev or you think, whoever you are. Today there are only 15 million Jews in the world today and our survival through the millennia is a pretty amazing story thanks to not forgiving and forgetting and knowing when to pack up and leave. Why deprive future generations, Jewish or Gentile learning from the past. The Shoah was so heinous there's nothing wrong with it being engraved in the world conscience...precisely to prevent it re-occurring

War with Lebanon will come sooner or later, preferably sooner. It's time that Israel get rid of Hezbollah once for all. They are a menace to Christian Lebanese and to all who want to live in peace.

If you really think that anti-Semitism is exxagerated then obviously you have been ignorant about the hatred being spread by Jew-haters around the world. People like you is one reason why there is anti-Semitism. Holocaust education to young people is necessary to remind them of the evil commited by racists and anti-Semites. It is the younger generation, who may become world leaders later in life, that needs to be taught about mutual respect and tolerance.
19. Study Sabra and Shatila massacre
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (11.07.09)
The Sabra and Shatila massacre (Arabic: مذبحة صبرا وشاتيلا‎ Maḏbaḥat Ṣabrā wa Shātīlā) — or Sabra and Chatila massacre — was a massacre of Palestinian and Lebanese civilians carried out between 16 and 18 September 1982 by the Lebanese Forces militia group, following the assassination of Phalangist leader and president-elect Bachir Gemayel. The Israeli Defense Force (IDF), who surrounded Beirut's Palestinian refugee camps, allowed the Lebanese Forces Christian militia to enter two of these refugee camps, Sabra and Shatila (33°51′40.47″N 35°30′01.50″E / 33.8612417°N 35.500417°E / 33.8612417; 35.500417) . The exact number killed by the Lebanese Forces militia is disputed, with estimates ranging from 328 to 3,500.[2] The Phalangists stood under the direct command of Elie Hobeika, who later became a long-serving Lebanese Member of Parliament and, in the 1990s, a Lebanese cabinet minister. The Israeli military's Chief of Staff was Lt. General Rafael Eitan, and Israel's Defence Minister was Ariel Sharon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabra_and_Shatila_massacre

Of course I know what the poster at No. 3 meant, Charles. I have absolutely no objection to the Naqba being taught anywhere. But there is a flip side to the coin -- the nascent State of Israel did not invade five Arab countries; rather, it was the other way around. No war; no Naqba. Hence those wishing to ascribe blame (or, at the very least, responsibility) for the Naqba need look no further than the five Arab states that attacked Israel on May 15, 1948. That is all I was saying, Charles. Don't read anything into my comment that isn't there. I rarely leave things unsaid if I think they are germane to a topic under discussion, and I am quite good at getting my point across.

First of all, you are incorrect. Secondly, how to you account for what the deported British criminals did to Australia's aboriginal population, and when do you propose to return Australia to its rightful aboriginal owners? The fact of the matter is that the land that the Jews purchased from the Ottoman Turks (the rightful owners) was uninhabited and uninhabitable. The following is an excerpt from Mark Twain's "Innocents Abroad," which puts paid once and for all to the Palestinian myth of lush olive groves and orchards. Hard to believe that the fertile and forested Galilee of today is the bleak, desolate and abandoned Galilee that Mark Twain visited. "Of all the lands there are for dismal scenery, I think Palestine must be the prince. The hills are barren, they are dull of color, they are unpicturesque in shape. The valleys are unsightly deserts fringed with a feeble vegetation that has an expression about it of being sorrowful and despondent. The Dead Sea and the Sea of Galilee sleep in the midst of a vast stretch of hill and plain wherein the eye rests upon no pleasant tint, no striking object, no soft picture dreaming in a purple haze or mottled with the shadows of the clouds. Every outline is harsh, every feature is distinct, there is no perspective -- distance works no enchantment here. It is a hopeless, dreary, heart-broken land. " "Palestine sits in sackcloth and ashes. Over it broods the spell of a curse that has withered its fields and fettered its energies. Where Sodom and Gomorrah reared their domes and towers, that solemn sea now floods the plain, in whose bitter waters no living thing exists -- over whose waveless surface the blistering air hangs motionless and dead -- about whose borders nothing grows but weeds, and scattering tufts of cane, and that treacherous fruit that promises refreshment to parching lips, but turns to ashes at the touch. Nazareth is forlorn; about that ford of Jordan where the hosts of Israel entered the Promised Land with songs of rejoicing, one finds only a squalid camp of fantastic Bedouins of the desert; Jericho the accursed, lies a moldering ruin, to-day, even as Joshua's miracle left it more than three thousand years ago; Bethlehem and Bethany, in their poverty and their humiliation, have nothing about them now to remind one that they once knew the high honor of the Saviour's presence; the hallowed spot where the shepherds watched their flocks by night, and where the angels sang Peace on earth, good will to men, is untenanted by any living creature, and unblessed by any feature that is pleasant to the eye. Renowned Jerusalem itself, the stateliest name in history, has lost all its ancient grandeur, and is become a pauper village; the riches of Solomon are no longer there to compel the admiration of visiting Oriental queens; the wonderful temple which was the pride and the glory of Israel, is gone, and the Ottoman crescent is lifted above the spot where, on that most memorable day in the annals of the world, they reared the Holy Cross. The noted Sea of Galilee, where Roman fleets once rode at anchor and the disciples of the Saviour sailed in their ships, was long ago deserted by the devotees of war and commerce, and its borders are a silent wilderness; Capernaum is a shapeless ruin; Magdala is the home of beggared Arabs; Bethsaida and Chorazin have vanished from the earth, and the "desert places" round about them where thousands of men once listened to the Saviour's voice and ate the miraculous bread, sleep in the hush of a solitude that is inhabited only by birds of prey and skulking foxes."

Does your perfidy know no bounds? The late Otto Frank (z.l.) released his dead daughter's diary in 1959. He refused compensation, and suggested that the publishers donate an amount they deemed reasonable to the Holocaust Museum of The Netherlands and the "Anne Frank House," which was made into a museum. I cannot stop your anti-Semitism. I WILL stop your lies.

Did you get stung by a box jellyfish? Whatever part of your post belongs to a Churchill quote, it's taken out of context. Anyway, in 1921, Palestinians were the Jews already settled in Palestine. Your 'Palestinians' were referred to as Arabs. Furthermore, Foreign Jews were buying land in Palestine from wayback....especially land that the Arabs didn't want. The rest is history and you lost
