1. peres and abbas
alexi   (11.07.09)
peres has consistently rendered bad advice to israel, whether olso, or distortion of rabin into peacenik. I mean he asked why hamas fired rockets from vacated land, like he was born yesterday! Even in the exchange with hezbollah when barak was defence minister under rabin, he flinched when so called civilians were hit just like olmert. His military record was no bloody good. Now he raises a fuss about abbas. They are all the same, warm cold. In the end, israel will snuff out hamas and they might as well start now. peres should stick to his ceremonial role and stay out of operational affairs.
2. !700 Israelis dead,thousands more
jason white ,   afula,israel   (11.07.09)
wounded. Terrorists armed and on our borders and peres does not want abu ab-ass to give. What is he the terrorist cheerleader? peres should be locked away and never allowed to communicate with the outside world. How about a memorial service for all the dead and wounded from the oslo death accords? How many young lives were ended or how many were maimed? We should mourn them and not an accomplice to this tragedy.
3. Are Peres, Barak, PiecesNow secular version of Netura Karta?

5. peres inappropriate
arthur ,   jersey city usa   (11.07.09)
Let abbas go. This is just a ploy done time and again to get concessions. Let abbas go he can not and will not be a partner for peace. Peres is projecting his vision on Rabin. Peres who without authority went behind Rabin's back to negotiate with the plo and presented Rabin with the Fait Accompli that led to oslo and its spawn. The peace Rabin saw is not what we have had since oslo. Rabin probably would have rejected arafat and abbas certainly after the intifada
6. I am telling you that Israel wants true peace
Marco ,   Spain   (11.07.09)
With all due respect Mr. Peres, what is the true peace that you are talking about? Is it the peace that includes building settlements on Palestinian land in the West Bank? Is it a peace based on evicting Palestinians and demolishing their homes? What about the theft of Palestinian water resources in the West Bank or the starvation of the men, women and children of Gaza as a result of your inhumane blocade? Is it the peace of apartheid in the West Bank or the peace that involves killing innocent Palestinians for profiteering from Organ trade? Did you read the Goldstone report objectively? Mr. Peres, you left Abbas nothing to show for after 50 years of working for his people. All you did was strengthen the hands of extremist. You do not deserve some one like Abbas who bent over backwards in order to achieve peace. It seems that the Hezbollah example is the only answer to your arrogance. It seems that the Palestinians are left with an option based on Kassams and intifadas. Sorry Mr. Peres, but you are a hypocrite and you deserve whats coming your way.
7. Peres, Barak and Teitel
Ricardo Macher ,   KarneiShomron Israel   (11.07.09)
I really don't understand Barak! Doesn't he read news? Teitel was Shin Bet!!!! Peres should go home quickly, praising a terrorist, telling him not to resign? Mr. Peres, with all due respect GO HOME! Stop bothering, you are responsible for all the major fiascos in Israel's history,
8. screw you Pigres and your Oslo accord
Mahinjun   (11.08.09)
you know where you can stick your accord
9. MR Peres you will realy miss Abbas
fire ,   WB   (11.08.09)
Abbas has done everything exactly as in the road map gathering wepons of streets , secure the area , chasing hamas members ,resolve the army cells and what he get ?? nothing the not reelected Abbas means 2 things 1- abig failure for his way and big winner for hamas way which will consider the only way to the palestinians including fateh too 2-since Abbas ganna lose he will be sure everyone lose too especially netanyaho that's what we called revenge so he will burn the area and not talking just about waves of violence since the 2 state solution will fail he will hurry up to call one state for all and watch netanyaho face then did netanyaho thought there is anyone more leftist than abbas ?? the only one could will against hamas is marwan barghouti whose consider as hawkish and support the bombing oprations
10. #6 Marco - I LOVE YOU ! :)

11. Does anyone care what Obama has to say??
Jose ,   San Jose, CA   (11.08.09)
We've heard all the embarrassing speeches. We've suffered through all the rhetoric. We've seen all the inactions. Now go away. Your politics as usual is nothing new. Your inability to help the women and children in the Middle East makes me sick. If an American President does not have the strength to help, who does. You have zero credibility in this part of the world. Zero. Go away and be popular. Just don't tell anyone what to do. It is sickening.

You forgot to mention we need their children's blood to make our Passover matza....
13. A memorial to failure. Oslo was and is a failure. Rabin was
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.08.09)
a failure at the time of his death. Jews died because of his foolish dreams and schemes for a peace treaty with terrorists that want only to kill Jews, not live in peace. The Rabin memorial is a tribute to the notion that if you repeatedly tell a lie to enough people it will become the truth. Oslo was a failure, abandoning Gush Katif was a failure and -o-BUM-a's interjection in the fictitious peace process is a failure.
14. EveryJew and Infidel Are Targets. Get It!
Dav Lev ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (11.08.09)
As an observer from 11,000 miles away, I know it's easy to comment. Israel has multiple enemies as we know and has lost focus, is perplexed at Arab maneuvering. Simply put: the Arab/Muslim goal, is the area to be Judenrein. Get it, w/o Jews, a Muslim state..maybe an entity, or unified with Jordan, Egypt, etc. From that perspective, Peres, Barak and Livni's statements (and action) are clear., as are the Arabs/Hamas/Hez/Syria, Lebanon, etc. To Israel; judge them by deeds, not words (empty). One lost war, and no more words, every Jew will be a target for the Arabs., in Israel and the Diaspora. The IAEA leader says, Iran is conflicted..the Arab word fears hopeless agin Israel. He says, give them time..trust them, make them trust US, engage, talk, negotiate. There are 2 sides. We should remind him about Hitler's threat to wipe out the Jews. He did, almost. Ahmad is another Hitler..Hamas/Hez are the Waffen SS. Only the names are different, from Klaus to Muhammad. Get it!
15. Peres and Barak Should Retire to Palm Beach
Dav Lev ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (11.08.09)
Rabin got tired..as did Peres..the reason for Oslo. They wanted a final peace, and got the 2nd Intifada, over 1200 Jewish deaths..Lebanon and the Strip. Hamas came to power, AFTER the disengagement. Now Hamas throws more salt by claiming the present govt is seeing the light about Shalit. (The bank robbers are dictating to the bank). Peres is old, tired, long in tooth and senile. Livni is a fool. Barak needs to join the seltzer crowd in Miami. Israel needs fresh and vigorous leadership, not intimidated by Hillary or our do-nothing Pres. That's a mighty order..but it's your necks guys(read Ahmad's threats and the IAEA excuses).
16. to #6 I am telling you the Arabs have never wanted peace!!!
andy ,   orlando,u.s   (11.08.09)
1. Why did the Arabs reject the UN Partition Resolution of 1947,which would have created an Arab state in the West Bank and Gaza? 2.Why did Egypt and Jordan not create a Palestinian state when they occupied Gaza and the West Bank between 1947- 1967? 3. Why does Mahmoud Abbas state unequivocally that he does not accept the Jewish state? The answer is simple: The Arabs do not accept a Jewish state called Israel and wish to drive the Jews into the sea! Marco time for you to learn some historical facts!
17. despite our efforts
Golan ,   SL   (11.08.09)
Israel gave up land and political capital in exchange for what? More Arab bombs? More Arab murders? We gave up land, dismantled settlements, and for what? The left is more against us that ever before and the Arabs? They went even more the the extreme. the peace process was a failure but not because of Israeli efforts. Its dead because the (Israeli) Left ignore reality and Arabs are more violent than ever before As for Rabin, rockets ARE shooting out of Gaza. You were a failed politician, You were a horrible prime minister. And we are sad you were murdered.
18. Losers
(11.08.09)
Barak is like a palestinian, never misses an oportunity to miss an oportunity. I hope Labor party disapears in its entirety in the next election and I know our Arab friends will help to make it happen.
19. Abbas' rock and hard place
Imafreeagent ,   Florida   (11.08.09)
Abbas has the same trouble reining in Hamas as the Lebanese president has with Hezbollah. With little or no support from the US, the UN or Israel, these groups continue to provide services and infrastructure they would otherwise not have. In order to defend themselves, they rely on arms shipments from friendly countries. So what's the answer?
20. Abbas - don't listen to Peres! Retire now!
JPS ,   Efrat   (11.08.09)
Abbas is looked down on with disdain not just by Israelis, but by the Palestinians as well. Instead of reforming Fatah and positioning the movement to reclaim power from Hamas, Abbas did...well... not a heckuvalot. He managed to convince most of Fatah to not attack Israeli civilians, he managed to regain some control in Nablus. But reform? End of corruption and nepotism? Nope. Nada. Fatah under Abbas does not offer any decent alternative to Hamas. Abbas simply can't deliver, and his departure from the scene means new blood at the top. We only hope that the new leadership will actually provide leadership and direction. Our fear as Israelis is that the replacement for Abbas will be just another useless tool who is an expert at manipulating the corruption, not ending it.
21. LET Abbas G0!
Meir ,   Toronto, Canada   (11.08.09)
A holocaust denier, terrorist supporting suit, somebody who is 'moderate' yet has yet to acknowledge the Jewish connection/history to Israel, who still clings to the return of Palestinians to Israel...it is time for him to move on. If the Pals can't find a true moderate than we should know that and act appropriately.
22. #13 Bunnie Meyer talks of abandoning
Avi ,   Israel   (11.08.09)
Please do enlighten us all how you can talk of "abadoning Gusk Katif" yet you abandon Israel and choose to live in LA LA land USA ? Hypocracy knows no limits i see !
23. Peres - PLEASE QUIT NOW
Walter ,   Tel Aviv   (11.08.09)
You live in a dream world. Your ideas will lead only to the death of millions of Jews. Arabs lead by Abbas or any other will never, have no desire or intension of letting Jews live in peace. Its all a lie , a dillusion.
24. Abbas the moderate.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (11.08.09)
Abbas is not a moderate, as the Israeli and Western world believes, and his actions confirms this evidence. He approved the official “Fatah” poster, which shows all of Israel as “Palestine” and includes a rifle and an oversized picture of Yasser Arafat. Abbas is also a “Holocaust denier,” who has wrote his PhD thesis and a book on the topic. He glorifies suicide bombers and recently, praised Hamas. “It is astonishing that the Israeli and American media ignore all this … believing that if you give him a state, maybe things will be okay, maybe he’ll revert to being totally decent. The Israeli government tries the peaceful route because of pressure from Europe and America, but fails to appreciate that Congress would support them if they refused to negotiate with the Palestinians. As to the “Palestinian” demography : http://xrl.us/bewfbt
25. #16 andy, orlando, us
Marco ,   Spain   (11.08.09)
Look Andy, If by using the term "Jewish State", the intention is to deny the right of return to Palestinian refugees, then you must be delusional. Neither Abbas nor any other Palestinian leader should accept the concept of a "Jewish State".
26. LOL
Leftist post zionist ,   Israel   (11.08.09)
" So whats so funny ? " The article and the religious right You are all full of it lies upon lies upon lies crazy messianic madmen and Rabin should have it wasnt just him y'all murdered it was peace for all of us you are all one big joke but none of you are funny and BTW Gideon Sa'ar can dream on , you are not my brothers !!!
27. Abbas
Morwan Mahmood ,   Cairo Egypt   (11.08.09)
Mobarak ,Abbas And the Camel of Jordan are pur Israeli agents.
28. #27 Morwan Mahmood
Marco ,   Spain   (11.08.09)
I agree with what you said about Mubarak and the "camel of Jordan" as bending over backwards to please Israel. However, I would disagree with you with regards to Abbas. I believe that he was negotiating in good faith and went a little too far in trusting the Zionists. His trust in Egypt's Mubarak was not very wise.
29. #25 Marco. THERE IS NO RIGHT OF RETURN FOR ARABS!!!
andy ,   orlando   (11.08.09)
Marco. You deliberately ignored all 3 questions! The Arabs rejected United Nations General Assembly Resolution 181 which called for the creation of 1 JEWISH and 1 ARAB state in the mandate of Palestine. After Israel declared independence on 14th May 1948 , troops from Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria invaded the new state starting the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. Resolution 194 passed Dec 1948 calls for the right of return if refugees intend to "live at peace with their neighbours".Egypt and Syria voted against 194!! There is no intention of Arabs accepting the Jewish State of Israel (which 181 created) and living in peace with their neighbour. What about the right of return of 750,000 Arab Jews forced to flee Arab countries in 1948!!!!! Marco you choose to lie, deceive and distort history!!!!!!!
