1. A sickness
Religion   (11.12.09)
I correct myself. A disease.
2. No double standard here! If he's terrorist
Shalom   (11.12.09)
he should be released like Arab terrorists with the government's first goodwill gesture, and his home, like the hundreds of homes of Arab terrorists with blood on their hands that were never demolished, may not be demolished. And if there IS a double standard and he will not be released soon, how dare you call him a “terrorist” and compare him to Arab terrorists.
3. A Chillul HaShem
Shalom-the real one   (11.12.09)
How dare any person take the law into their own hands like this. What is sickening is that he is so proud of his actions. If he is found guilty as charged, he should be hung, drawn and quartered - along with all other terrorists
4. is teitel muslim?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (11.12.09)
he sure talks like one.
5. maybe he just wanted the arabs to feel
gal1 ,   holy land   (11.12.09)
the same way we feel everyday about getting on a bus or going into a crowded shopping centre. he isn't a terrorist , in his mind he was doing it for the good of israel. he should plead insanity. and maybe get some help. cos it aint normal behaviour.
6. #2 i agree.
gal1 ,   holy land   (11.12.09)
7. NO ANTI RIGHT WING COMMENTS...
gedaliah   (11.12.09)
He was not born and raised here. He planned all violence from the US. He did not grow up in our communities... Call him what you will, psycho, looney...whatever... There is no justification to lumping him with the national religious who work hard to build everyday.
8. what israelis dont realize is
(11.12.09)
most of the settlers are the same ,and as crazy as this man , and if we dont put a stop to their terrorist actions ,they will hurt us and all of us , and also let it be known if it was only the palestinians bieng murdered ,the shin bet and the police would have never cared , it was only because of the 2 cops murdered that he was caught , even though they made it look like it was discovered after the arrest...
9. notice he attacked CIVILIANS
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (11.12.09)
you didn't see him attacking members of hamas or islamic jihad, nooo. true to cowardly terrorist fashion he attacks unsuspecting, unarmed civilians and then claims he is doing the "work of god". if big boy wants to be a brave hero, why doesn't he engage the islamic terrorists like a man? (that's a rhetorical question there)
10. #8 - totally way off
Shalom (real one)   (11.12.09)
You are 100% wrong. The majority of "settlers" are law-abiding, tax-paying, home-loving, Eretz-Yisrael loving warm hearted people who would never condone, never mind do anything like this thug.
11. Teital
Barbara ,   Israel   (11.12.09)
If you are such a fanatic and believe that God is supporting you, then why didn't strap a bomb on your own body and become a suicider to kill Palestanians? Then we'd at least had been rid of you....
12. #7 & where was Meir Kahane born & raised?
(11.12.09)
and what did he do he brought his racist right wing incitement here to Israel along with him when he immigrated! In other words #7 give it a rest!
13. 2 the "Shaloms" perhaps use initial of ur last names 2
(11.12.09)
to differenciate between the two of you? Of course it could be that there is really only 1 Shalom and he loves to argue with himself!!! Or may-be its Rivkah on her way to transgender land!
14. Beware US Tourists!
Jameel ,   The Muqata   (11.12.09)
What #8 fails to realize is that Teitel allegedly committed the murders when he was not a settler, but a tourist from the US. Its high time that American and American Tourists be banned from Israel -- they are all dangerous!!! And Commenter #8 is the most dangerous of them all.
15. He is a killer, the lunatic kills people
Eric.. ,   Israel...   (11.12.09)
because he disagrees with your political views and your way of life. These kind of fanatics cannot live in a country that is a democracy and has freedom of speech.
16. This "terrorism" is started to be babbled too often!
John ,   Europe   (11.12.09)
And it is BAD, as it is excessive use of "antisemitism". For both terms to be valid and mean something, there has to be a good definition what that term represents as well as a solid situations when you can use it. Hence, Teitel may be a psycho son of a bitch (and my personal opinion is that he is), but he is not a terrorist. A terrorist is a person who, by inflicting terror (usually through means of killing) on civilians or other non-military valid targets of a certain state, tries to impose his own (or the groups' he represent) political agenda on legally elected government of that state. Hence, what we see here: 1) A terrorist ALWAYS have political agenda that is DIFFERENT than government's, and that differentiates him from common criminals, random and mass murderers etc. 2) A terrorist always targets civilians and non-military valid targets (like schools - mind you that power plant, for example, is a military valid target), so this is what differentiates him from freedom fighters, who battle armies and soldiers through various means. 3) Use of terror differentiates him as a terrorist then, for example, by revolutionaries or missionary of other political agenda who confine themselves on speeches, pamphlets etc. what is legal... Teitel is a loonatic who should be barred for life in a very small cell. BUT he DID NOT HAVE A CLEAR POLITICAL AGENDA. His acts are acts of deranged killer: kill a random Arab, WITHOUT stating his purpose to, say, Palestinian Authorities, is a common MURDER. Therefore, Teitel is much, but he is not a terrorist. Lets keep our terminology good. Oh, yes - guys, also, many Pallestinians that were here claimed as terrorists - like the one in Jerusalem in excavator - they are NOT terrorists. Hamas are. But people who go crazy and in killing spree and chooses a single group are still only killers. RACIAL killers, ANTISEMITIC killers, yes, but NOT TERRORISTS.
17. It was the government's job to deport
jason white ,   afula,israel   (11.12.09)
the Ortiz family along with any other missionary groups. They are similar to terrorists. The terrorists want to kill Jews and the missionaries want to kill our souls!
18. Kach
Israeli Leftist ,   Israel   (11.12.09)
He is a Kahanist , born and bred in America like most of them . Yigal Amir was influenced by them if there was no occupation and no Wild West Bank and no Hebron , there would be no reason for them to continue to come over here the WB is their breeding ground if you dont want them over here then vote for a party that promises to end the occupation , it is that simple people
19. If we did not have arab trepassers on
jason white ,   afula,israel   (11.12.09)
our Jewish land, if the government outlawed far left groups that are anti Zionist and missionaries were banned, none of this would have happened. He probably would have wound up shooting himself.
20. new name
Shalom (real one)   (11.12.09)
"I hereby announce from this day on, I will be known to one and all as Shalom Hartman" to avoid confusion!
21. Hey Jameel, should we ban Muslim tourists too?
JPS ,   Efrat   (11.12.09)
I recall that there was a British Muslim tourist who blew himself up at a restaurant in Tel Aviv, killing 3 people. So do you think Israel should ban all Muslims from visiting Israel? What about that Muslim in the Jordanian army who shot and killed 8 young Israeli schoolgirls? Should Jordan ban all Muslims from its army? (actually, Jordan should ban all the idiot Jordanians who called the soldier a "hero" for murdering little girls).
22. As I said, Teitel is not a terrorist, but surely is an issue
John ,   Europe   (11.12.09)
Teitel is a sign of problem. Israel, as can I see, have a problem with people who spend most of their life in a "Jew-full-protected" countries of West. There they are mostly non-religious or small-religious and do not have some connection to Israel. Now, in some point of life, they gain enough money - in some cases on illegitimate, in many cases in immoral ways - and all for sudden, they discover they are a big Jews. Then they start wearing tallit, attend shul and look at their fellow Jews as "not enough religious and therefore not very Jewish". Of course, goyim start to be similar to pigeons, cats and dogs. Then, after a while, they move to Israel. And all for sudden - they perceive Israel should be big from Marocco to India ( i.e. Moshe on Horeb had binoculars). Combine that with their attitude towards goyim, mix it with Arab-Israeli problem, multiply it with frustrations that today's Israel is NOT quite "land of milk and honey" and you have the result. Teitel is different on one thing: he is a lunatic. But if you look closely, you will see that he resembles what I wrote in many points.
23. to #12 you do aware Kahane is dead
ghostq   (11.12.09)
this got nothing to do with this psycho being setler cause his "activities" he started when he lived in the USA. so take a rest indeed.
24. I might stand corrected...
John ,   Europe   (11.12.09)
Reading the article twice again, carefully, Teitel STILL can fit into definition of terrorist, cause "He also wrote condemnations of the State and its institutions, calling the State the enemy and claiming that a state based on religious law must be established in Judea and Samaria."
25. to # 23
Israeli Leftist ,   Israel   (11.12.09)
Kach is very much alive read : http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/israel/ Meir Kahane might be dead but his ideology lives on amongst those like Teitel and like Yigal Amir
26. You are disgusting, Jason White #19!
John ,   Europe   (11.12.09)
You call yourself a Jew? This kind of thinking is VERY similar to somebody, in 30s of previous century!
27. Terrorist Victim Civil Suits
Donna Diorio ,   Dallas TX USA   (11.12.09)
In the U.S. we have allowed families of victims of Palestinian terror attacks in Israel to sue individuals and organizations tied to terrorism. Sometimes it is the only justice that can be awarded these victims because juries in criminal proceedings often will not convict terrorists who explain away their murders with ideological justifications. A terrorist is a terrorist is a terrorist - regardless of what religion or anti-religion mindset produces the terrorist. Double standards don't protect the public, they harm. When the cup fills up, the double standard spills out to destroy.
