1. Doesn't contradict peace?
Addle ,   Toronto   (11.16.09)
Yeah, then what do you call settlers who make annual raids on Palestinian olive trees and cutting them down or young settler kids who pelt Palestinians going to school with rocks or Settlements that are in the proximity of Palestinian land, slowly absorbing it while giving nothing back to those who truly own it?
2. Give the Arabs a choice

Truthseeker ,   USA   (11.16.09)
Palestinians should have the same right. In fact it is too bad that the Palestinians didn't declare their state long ago.

Sad to hear the same propaganda being spewed again. There are two simple points to remember: First, Israel has, is, and always will be a Jewish State---if you disagree, take it up with God. Second, regardless of the guise, whether it is the PA, Hamas, or any other facade all are possessed by the desire to destroy Israel. The PLO never even bothered making believe that this is not true by removing such disgusting aims from their covenant... Perhaps people like "Addle" should spend a few weeks living under shariah law...no doubt a dhimi like this would get an education!

Judea and Samaria....and be done with it. It is Jewish land and Israel cant see this high ground given to the enemy....that would be suicidal

Eyal ,   USA   (11.16.09)
Addle, Palestinians do the same to settlers. I guess when they do it to the settlers it's ok, cause they are Jews right? Let me remind you of rock throwing barbarians, suicide bombers, shooting at jews in their vehicles while driving...bla bla bla. You must be new at this. Let me make something clear, Jerusalem will always be Jewish. Even if we succeed in peace (which we won't) There is nothing Muslim in Jerusalem. Al Aqsa will be torn down. You can't have evil in the Holy mountain of God, who chose the Jews (not you) as his people.
12. Addle
Eyal ,   USA   (11.16.09)
The Palestinians never owned the land of Israel. The Jews, Israelites, the Hebrews always owned this tiny little land. If you are talking about the Philistines, well, they were all (i mean all women, man and children) killed by King David. So when did the true Palestinians owned the land exactly? If you are talking about land that the British or Turks, or the Greeks or the Romans stole from the Jews and ruled over the land for 2000 years, well sorry. That doesn't make it theirs and definitely not the Palestinians. Read some books, or you are just as naive as the rest of the world who never read the history.
13. Unilateral acts will lead to unileteral acts and ceasassion
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (11.16.09)
of agreements!!! The losers, as always, will be the Arabs!!! "The Arabs have never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity" as Abba Eban some years ago, and the Arabs, with their actions, prove him correct time after time.
14. #1, maybe, but is THAT what's preveting peace?
Drong   (11.16.09)
Does a Jewish man BUILDING a house prevents peace more than a Palestinian man KILLING himself and others by blowing himself up? It's that comparison that Israel refuses to acknowledge. Does the settlements hurt? probably, but are they the main cause of conflict, like the Palestinians are trying to convey? definitely not. there was terror on israel before 1967 and before those settlements, and so far, there's no guarantee that the terror will stop if and when the settlements will be removed. And that's why the settlements do not contradict peace.
15. The Settlements.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (11.16.09)
While sympathy is more or less extended to the Po’ Palestinians and their terrorism excused, everyone is sure that the villains, the obstacles to peace, are the settlers (a sneer is obligatory when you say settlers). The settlers are the Jews who returned to live in Samaria and Judea and eastern Jerusalem ever since the Jews fought off the Arab invasion in 1968. The settlements are their towns and villages and cities and trailer camps and compounds. Why are these patriotic Jews demonized? Perhaps because they can’t be persuaded by Arab-aiding nonsense. They know that this land is Jewish: by God’s will, by the Bible, by history, by devotion, by never completely leaving the land over the centuries, by international law that established an irrevocable trust for the Jewish people, and by conquest after fighting off the invading Arabs. With all the facts on Israel’s side, how does one promote the claims of a non-people, the Palestinians? Simple. Demonize the “settlers”. Then no one will complain when you steal Jewish land. Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (11.16.09)
the new "Palestinian nation" not include Jews? That is, must your vision of "Palestine" be "Judenfrei"? I make that point because about 300,000 Jews reside in Samaria and Judea. What would happen with them? Would you include them in your new state, assure them of all services and security and allow them to become part of the new government and administration? I ask that because about 20% of the population of Israel (1.4 million) are Arab Muslims, all of whom are allowed the benefits noted above. Please think through this.
17. Forget It
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (11.16.09)

19. thr trouble is Hamas and Gaza left out
ghostq   (11.16.09)
there r so many lose ends around so many subjects, as independance, it means Israel no longer have to provide them with anything including water electrivcity or other services they will have to provide all those for themselves, further more, the defense wall will be the border and any pali who will try to get in will have to have passport and working places for palis inside Israel will be more dificult to get, another thing they didn't thought of is any rocket that lands from Gaza Israel can blame the pali "gov" since the goverment is reponsible for any action against its neighbour it will lead to attacking west bank directly, mmm y arabs don't think things though beyond any logic ,

they steal from Israelies. and let keep the children out of it just because arabs don't care about their children it doesn't mean chritians or jews don't care about their own children.

palestinian people, culture, language, sovereignty- nothing. it was, and is arab and jew. arabs got 23 countries from england france & italy, jews got 1 country, our 4000 yr old -SOLE- homeland. Jordan is palestine; its 78% of the palestine mandate land (israel is only 22 %). jordans populace is 80% palestinian. jordans leaders are frauds- imported from mecca & installed by england in 1920. these rulers- king abdullah are 0.01% of jordans populace yet they rule 100% of jordan. they are not palestinians. the palestinians should be ruling jordan- they are 80% of population, and the land is as much "palestine" as in Israel.

25. A reply to all Talkbacks directed at me.
Addle ,   Toronto   (11.16.09)
You can believe in whatever religion you want to believe but there is a fine line between using it as justification for stealing land. Chosen people? So what? What does that have to do with Palestinians that owned land there for over 500 years compared to Zionists who didn't own any till the 20th century. I also find it hilarious how people justify the settlers actions with the Palestinian ones. As the saying goes "two wrongs don't make a right". Gods 'chosen people' are not exempt from this. I'm not denying Israel's right to exist, I deny their right to annex Palestinian land in the West Bank.

extremist coalition will realize soon what mistake they have done. Netanyaho in his first time as Prime Minister was tumbled with humiliation and swore he never comes back to politics. A week ago was celebrating his triumph over Obama with the settlement policy. Yeah it is too early to celebrate Mr. Prime minister. If Arabs has little brain the situation was much different, the Israeli just enjoying dealing with power less useless morons the co called Arab moderates. Netanyaho-Liberman coalition is disastrous for Israel and time start to prove it.
