1. This is arab democracy
zionist forever   (11.16.09)
Hamas won the elections not Fatah which is just another name for the PLO. Solution change the playing field so that Hamas can no longer be in charge and all power ends up in the hands of the PLO. Already Fatah changed the rules. The Hamas election victory meant that the PM was supposed to come from Hamas. After the take over of Gaza they kicked out the Hamas PM and replaced him with a member of Fatah. They claim to want democracy but democracy is only legitimate if Fatah are in charge.
2. hamas will take over the PLO like it did gaza
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (11.16.09)
hamas will burst in with guns a-blazing and, when the smoke settles, will declare itself the head, neck, and body of the PLO. then what? no amount of political cleverness will matter in the end unless palestinians clean their own house. the slow motion palestinian train wreck continues...
3. before the UN grants a Palistinian state...
Galut ,   Selah   (11.16.09)
it needs to examin the long track record of Hamas and Fatah ...both organizations fondations are built and driven by hate and bitterness toward israel and each other... when the very foundation is built on hate and bitterness ,,,, it takes decades if not centuries to eradicate the last vestages of it from the society it is a part of....simply a new palistinian state will have a long and bloody future.....they do not know how to shut off the hate and bitterness switch.....
4. Americans have learned nothing
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.16.09)
Year after year, the Americans make the same mistake, thinking that democracy means installing an American agent to rule others. They think that by writing a few articles about how great Fatah is, and paying Fayyad, Abbas and Dayton's army, the Arabs will accept corruption to further American interests. It will be interesting to see whether the Americans are surprised when Hamas expels the US agents and takes over Judea and Samaria.
5. Western money fuels feuds and radicalization
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim,   (11.16.09)
B"H If the "palestinians" were a real people and the Palestinian Legislative Council a real parliament and the PA something - anything real, apart of the terrorist organization it is against the Jewish people and Israel the world loves to finance to the tune of millions of dollars a day, every day, if the so called "palestinian" territories, Judea and Samaria, were anything but the Biblical Heartland of the Jews, this operation would be called: a coup. One gets the impression that the Arabs really have their minds confused. Shame on the international donor community to finance them so heavily to provoke feuds and maintain radicalization. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_active_autonomist_and_secessionist_movements and realize that the so called “palestinians” is just one of the many autonomist and secessionist movements. What makes them sexy is that they are against the Jews. Through them the world can say loud and clear: “Jews, we hate you!”
6. yeah that's a way to establish state
ghostq   (11.16.09)
1. start civil war. 2. look for dectator to make order mmm I think palis r on the right track. giggle and that's when they don't try to filter ilegaly to Israel.
7. Normalizatin of Palestinian affairs, back on the true path
JPS ,   Efrat   (11.16.09)
Come on, folks. "Palestine" isn't going to become the first true Arab democracy, neither is Iraq. The Palestinians are simply getting back onto the normal progression for an Arab state - one party rule so that the cronies keep power and deal out the cushy contracts to their buddies. It's the only way they seem to be able to keep things in order in their society, so let them be. It's probably the runup to a small civil war that will see Fatah team up with the USA while Israel turns a blind eye to a Fatah re-takeover in Gaza and a purge of Hamas leaders. Anything else is a stalemate, and the world doesn't want to keep pumping billions of dollars into the Pals' pockets every year if Hamas is around (and Hamas is so anti-world order and modernization even most Pals hate them, the only problem being that the PLO/Fatah can't give out enough money fast enough, nor can they get their institutions up to par). 2 state solution? Not until Fatah has control over Gaza again. Their frustration keeps showing.
