31. "...1967 borders..." No! No! No!
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (11.22.09)
The line that you call the "1967 borders" was not a border; it was rather an armistice line, a line where the fire ceased and was designated as such in agreements between Israel and Jordan, Israel and Syria and Lebanon, and Israel and Egypt. In June 1967 this coalition of Arab states initiated a war, the June 1967 Six-Day War, and in so doing they violated the armistice agreements on which they singed. Thus, the line is no more! None existent except in the minds of those who wish to fool us. What replaced the armistice agreements and lines is UN Security Council Resolution 242. Why don't you read it before commenting about the dos and don'ts of how Jews may conduct their affairs in their homeland, please?

Chertik0ff ,   Russian Federation   (11.22.09)
Hmm. David Evans, could you please find me any legible reference that mentions the existence of a Palestinian state prior to 1940? or Palestinian people for that matter? Cut the crap! So what lands might you be talking about? I should know, my former country (Soviet Union) was very involved in creating these "people" and their land. And no-one really cares about any U.N resolutions, this organization has lost any respect very long time ago. Shalom to Israelis from Russia! Vashe zdorovie.
33. Shalom to you Chetikoff. It is good to hear from you brother

34. America is a good friend
Sheryn Kandell ,   Clayton, MO   (11.22.09)
as shown by the congressmens' support. Oba Mao is not part of America. Born in Kenya, raised in Indonesia, a racebaiter and racehater, he has no place in America. He's an impostor through and through.
35. Obama's reply letter should read...
k1w1 ,   NZ   (11.22.09)
Dear Hanoch Daum, Your concerns are touching. However, you should know that America and Britian and France don't really care about Israel's little problems. We only pretend to care about Israel's problems to humour them, to keep them onside, because in reality Israel has only ever existed at our whim and for our purpose. You see, sixty-odd years ago, when we realised the crazy Arabs in the middle east were going to be receiving lots of petrodollars, the U.S and our buddies in western Europe and Britian knew we would need a strong presence in the region to deter the Arabs from doing anything stupid with all our petrodollars (like building powerful armies that might threaten our supply of oil) and also to prevent the commies from getting their hands on the oil. We needed someone in the region who could do our dirty work there without us looking like the bad guys and invoking the wrath of the Arabs, which would jeapodise our oil supply, and the Zionist Jews were the perfect choice. So, that's why, sixty-or-so years ago, the U.S Congress suddenly started to support Israel, providing them with the weapons and know-how to defeat their enemies and set up their democracy in the middle east. Before that we never took any notice of them. The cost of our support of Israel for the past sixty years has not not been a burden since most of the money we give is used to buy our military products and so it eventually comes back to our pockets anyway. Israel will always be safe while we have an interest in the middle east, and we will always turn a blind eye or support any atrocity it commits, so long as it continues doing the good work of protecting those interests. But don't expect us to really care about Israel's own little problems unless they impact our interests. I realise this will all sound rather callous and cynical on our part, and it is, but the Anglo/Gallic's didn't get to be the rulers of the world without being callous and cynical. Thanks for all the help so far, and keep up the good work.
36. k1w1 @ 35, are you Obama?

37. #18-Tom: That's the point - they AREN'T "settlements"
Susan ,   DC, USA   (11.25.09)
People who talk like you also think that Tel Aviv & Jerusalem are settlements. It's not just insulting to Israel, it's capitulating to terrorists & their propaganda to use the term "settlements" when discussing towns, cities and neighborhoods in Israel.
38. #8 your jingoism is showing!
tom ,   toronto, canada   (12.01.09)
jingoism notwithstanding, yes, it is the united states that needs to be put in its place. israel is a sovereign country, which means that it gets to make its own decisions and set its own policies, just the same way that the united states does. israel has not imposed a "settlement freeze" on the united states, and does not try to stop new construction in alaska, in order to "protect" america from russian "activists" demanding their right of return. nor does israel support a "two-state solution", with east washington as its capital, to solve the alaska problem. unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the united states, which does not respect israel's rights as a sovereign nation.
39. #35 you're a bit upside down
tom ,   toronto, canada   (12.01.09)
(i guess that's because you're in nz.) america didn't build israel - the jews did. 3,000 years ago, the jews had a homeland called the land of israel, and 150 years ago, some of the jews of europe decided to rebuild it, after 2,000 years of occupation and exile had ruined it. the early jewish settlers bought (NOT stole) worthless land, reclaimed it, and made it productive. and they built homes and cities. and this invited arab violence, long before 1948, just as it does today. the league of nations (not the americans) got onboard in 1917, and voted to grant britain a mandate to establish a jewish homeland in palestine (a name which has been used for the land of israel since roman times). the brits of course stole 78% of the land and invented an arab-only kingdom called "jordan" (aka "arab palestine"), then in 1948 the brits pulled out of the remaining 22%, and left the jewish population to fend for themselves against the well-equipped arab armies of 8 countries. the united nations (not the us) voted in 1948 to recognize the creation of a jewish AND an arab homeland, oddly enough, the arabs of palestine refused to be called "palestinian" prior to 1963, and never sought independence prior to 1967, while their lands were entirely under arab control. unlike your little (arab-insprired?) fairy tale, the american congress had little or nothing to do with the creation of the state of israel. (israel actually got more support from russia, for example.) but i guess the world looks a little upside down from down there....
