1. INTEL - 30 YEARS & OLMERT
BENJAMIN ,   SINGAPORE   (11.21.09)
WE BEEN THERE IN ISRAEL FOR 30 YEARS NOW. WE ADD 2 % TO GDP. WE DID THIS IN BIG SCALE BECAUSE MR.OLMERT OPEN THE DOORS FOR DEVELOPMENT ON BOTH SIDE- FOR INTEL AND ISRAEL. SO WE BRING IN FOREIGN MONEY INVESTMENT PLANS. BUT WE FORGOT ONE THING : WE WERE ON TEH IDEA TO DO WHAT THE ROMANS DO IN ROME ! BUT WE ALSO REALISED NOW THAT WE GOT TO DO WHAT THE HAREDI DO IN iSRAEL. WE FORGOT THAT WE ARE IN ISRAEL1 INTEL FORGOT THAT THESE REBBES ARE NOT EXTREMIST ( AS MANY THINK AND DEFAME) IT I SJUST THAT THEY HAVE BECOME MORE VOCAL THEN BEFORE. THEY ARE EXPERESSING THEIR NEED TO PRESERVE JUDAISM. i THINK WE IN INTEL MUST RECOGNISE THEIR RIGHT TO THE FREEDOME OF SPEECH AS WE IN INTEL TRUMP UP OUR AMERICAN RULE OF LAW 0 FREEDOME OF SPEECH. THIS IS NOT A SECULAR ISSUE OR RELIGIOUS ISSUES. IT IS AMATTER OF RESPECTTING THE RIGHTS OF THE RELIGIOUS JEWS IN ISRAEL ! iNTEL HAS BEEN PROVICATIVE ON THIS ISSUE OF SHABBAT WAR ! INTEL SHOULD DO WHAT THE JEWS DO IN ISRAEL NOT DO BEHAVE LIKE ROMANS IN ROME ! INTEL IS INSENSITIVE TO THE HAREDI COMMUNITY ! I GAVE A DEEP THOUGHT ABOUT THIS INTEL ISSUE FOR A FEW DAYS. THIS IS MY STAND ! INTEL YOU TAKE THE RISK ! DO THE BEST TO STAY OR MOVE OUT ELSE WHERE ! BEN SINGAPORE
2. CONCLUSION
BENJAMIN ,   SINGAPORE   (11.21.09)
TEH HAREDIM IS VOICING OUT THEIR RIGHT VOCALLY ! THIS IS NOT A RIOT AS LABELED ! BEN SINGAPORE
3. This will hurt tourism.
Jim Brown ,   TN USA   (11.21.09)
These frigging people need to get a job. Oh I forgot they are on welfare.
4. Let them work by themselve
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (11.21.09)
They want to take away the livelihood of all those , who contrary to them , work . Even from their own women who work there and allow them to live as pimps who exploit them
5. Not enough force used against these
jason white ,   afula,israel   (11.21.09)
enemies of Judaism. Cut off all electricity to their neighborhoods. Cut off all funding from the government. Consider putting a fence around their neighborhoods.
6. What are Police paid for?
Paul ,   London England   (11.21.09)
If they fail to arrest and charge the criminals who behave so disgracefully? Allowing thugs and bully boys to intimidate law abiding citizens without a substantive response is a desecration of duty. The chief of Police should resign in favour of one who takes maintenance of law and order somewhat more seriously.
7. To: No. 3
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.21.09)
Never mind tourism, Jim. This will hurt Israel which, as far as I am concerned, is a crime.
8. It's a time for total war against taliban.
hevrat kadisha   (11.21.09)
And this war should be started from cutting money flow for parasites.
9. HAREDIM=IDIOTS
cas reader   (11.21.09)
A failure from the police to protect Intel will send a very damaging message to the world's business community. It is Intel (food on the table ) or ultra-orthodox religious doctrine which is 99% man-made rules.
10. Freedom of and from....
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (11.21.09)
Until there are enforceable and enforced laws granting Freedom of Religion and Freedom from Religion to all citizens, somebody will always try to stuff one religion or the other down someone else's throat and get bent out of shape, if they don't succeed. Why is it that God gave those created in His/Her image choices and free will, while some people, especially those who consider themselves closest to God, be they Jewish, Christian or Whatever, think it's their mission in life to tell everybody else how to live and what they can and can't believe? Trying to trump anyone's God-given rights sounds like blasphemy to me.
11. ah i get it. violating the shabbat is worse than
ari   (11.21.09)
causing physical damage to a person. these people have no clue what being Jewish is. may God punish them
12. :: Can anyone recall..?
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (11.21.09)
Out of interest can anyone recall the Haredim protesting about the Israeli pig farms? I would have thought this would have been right up their alley but I can't recall any such protests.
13. Rioting Louts
philip ,   Afula, Israel   (11.21.09)
Look to our wobbly kneed weakling politicians for the solution to this crazy problem. With determined force these riots could be easily stamped out and within a very short time, all you need is a little backbone. A rare commodity here when dealing with these hooligans and their rabbis.Wakey Wakey Pollies.
14. Why YNet?
Jay3 ,   Israel   (11.21.09)
WHy do you use a Israeli hating reporter to write this article? How can that be unbiased. I dont support these religious actions, but i believe that certain journalists you use are totally anti religious and biased against ISrael, so i really have a problem believing everything they write about events like this! Cant you, for once, use impartial journalists to cover these events and tell the whole story?
15. Elisha Peleg criticized police blocking streets?
Sasha ,   Jerusalem   (11.21.09)
"There is no justification for preventing visitors coming to Jerusalem from passing..." What about the religious blocking streets from normal traffic on Shabbat? I wonder how many religious workers there are at Intel in Jerusalem?
16. they're using protest to terrorize other Jews
pete ,   portland   (11.21.09)
This group as pious they may look . They're not poor, but they control diamond industry. They don't recognize current State of Israel. They abuse basic laws. They cowardly terrorize other Jews in their own homes. They're as worse as extreme Muslims, maybe worse since they're "Jews". Yet they won't bug what Muslims do.
17.  day of rest ?
Tom ,   US   (11.21.09)
Demonstrating and rioting on sabbath when they should be in synagogue or resting-contemplating is mystifying/ Perhaps fires hoses to disperse the crowd??
18. Deport the trouble makers to Tehran
Avi ,   Israel   (11.21.09)
These trouble makers should be deported to tehran where they will be amongst friends there. Israel is a democratic country and not a country ruled by religious law. Intel is a private domain and not a public domain, it is none of their business if an employee is working in the privacey of his or her office. Where will all this end, who is next on their Teliban list? How about protesting out side the Electric corp where those nasty seculars are working on Shabat in order to supply the charedi homes with electricity.
19. HAREDIM PROTEST AT INTEL
HENRYK ,   RAMAT GAN /ISRAEL   (11.21.09)
IF THE HAREDIM WOULD FIGHT WITH SUCH FERVOR AGAINST THE GERMANS IN WW II AS THEY DO AT INTEL PERHAPS OUR HISTORY WOULD BE DIFFERENT
20. #12 ur misinformed, it was Egyptian pig farms owned by Xtian
(11.21.09)
s, and Muslims were rioting about it. I read the story here on Ynet a few months ago.
21. Doesn't Intel get it? They want to be bribed to shut up.
(11.21.09)
22. Intel just close factor in Js and move to Ankara Turkey
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (11.21.09)
Plenty of qualified workforce waiting for you You will save more than 50% It is worth considering...
23. Freedom
Sagi   (11.21.09)
is the highest value to which Man can aspire and not God. God is nonsense, God is illogical, God and all ramifications and manifestations of this word and concept are detrimental to the wellbeing of Mankind. Freedom of thought, speech and deed, albeit within the bounds of the laws of society, not those of God, are cardinal values. I propose these folks should retreat to the provinces from whence they originate and leave normal people to proceed with their lives. They are not only a burden on society, but they feel they have a right to compound this burden by rioting and using violence.
24. :-)
BENJAMIN ,   SINGAPORE   (11.21.09)
Now you wnat us to go to Turkey : -) May be :-)
25. :: #20 - Not the Egyptian pig farms
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (11.21.09)
I saw that story to but that is not what I was referring to. I was talking about Israeli pig farms, eg; Kibbutz Lahav I was just wondering if the Haredim have ever taken issue with these farms, they seem to take issue with everything else.
26. To #12 Where do you think they get
jason white ,   afula,israel   (11.21.09)
new members from?
27. #4 You sure are hard on your blood
(11.21.09)
brothers.
28. thorny issue
Barney ,   USA   (11.21.09)
i totally disagree with the behavior and tactics of the ultra-orthodox. I am not a Sabbath observant Jew but there is something to be said about the observance of Shabbat in Jerusalem. This should be part of the special character of the capital of the Jewish people. Isn't there a way to work this out for Intel and the religious Jews in Israel? Is this plant 24/7? If it is maybe govt could provide tax benefits, wage benefits, or some other concessions to compensate Intel for the cost of closing on Shabbat. Intel is good for Israel and visa versa. This just doesn't seem like an insurmountable obstacle to me. Can anyone shed light on this for me?
29. To #25 Kibbutz Lahav
Sir Humphrey Appleby ,   Whitehall, UK   (11.21.09)
Quote: "In 1963, Lahav established the Institute for Animal Research with guidance from leading scientists from the Hebrew University's Faculty of Agriculture, which is the only research facility in Israel specializing in raising pigs.[1] According to a 1963 law, pigs can be legally raised in kibbutzim (or more generally on land leased from the state) only for research purposes, but meat from surplus animals may be sold.[2] While all other kibbutzim abandoned pig farming to comply with the 1963 law, Lahav transferred its pig farm to its new organization, the Institute for Animal Research, which continues to supply Lahav's meat processing factory with surplus pigs. Lahav's pork and other meat products are nationally marketed in non-kosher food stores all over Israel, and the Lahav brand is a major competitor to non-kosher meat products of Mizra." Quote ends
30. Why so much hostility against haredim?
Vladimir ,   Jerusalem   (11.21.09)
They only demand to observe the law that prohibits work on Shabbat. Intel must be fined for law-breaking.
