Thanks for the quote Sir Humphrey.
33. Where is the tear gas and rubber bullets?
Johan Odin ,   Oslo, Norway   (11.21.09)
When Palestinians and leftists protest against the wall they are met at a minimum with rubber bullets and tear gas grenades, but when the Harediban riot and engage in the same behavior, the police behave quite differently. I wonder why that is? Are the Police secretly supporting the Harediban or is it only OK to shoot Palestinian protesters? The Harediban are only going to get stronger, they practically control the IDF already, so if Intel was smart it would cut and run while it can to a safer country like Norway for instance.

The demonstrations are doing the state more good than harm. Just as they use a tactic of provocation to wind up the Palestinians, and then beat the poop out of them, whilst showing footage of the riots (but not the reprisals) all over the world, they want to do the same with the haredim. After having turned world jewish opinion against them, the state will then be able to do with the haredim as they please. I'd bet that intel is being subsidised by the govt to stay open 24/7.

It is my dutiful obligation to confirm in no uncertain terms the unsavoury reality of your afore published missive. I am not only far removed from religion and its practices, I am an ardent and dedicated aetheist. I have however in my past ruminations availed myself of logic, which is a cornerstone of my very existence, and thus I arrived eons ago at the conclusion that religion and tradition are two different things completely. So in spite of my disbelief in Gods and the power of the dance round the totem pole I happily accept tradition and ergo I have always been of the inclination that Jews should not devour the delights of porcus,if indeed they are a delight, I would not know as I have never partaken thereof. I have always maintained that in this country of ours there is no place to farm, import and sell this product. I am 100% against it. This is tradition and not religion. Religion is nonsense incarnate. Religion is one man's lesser inventions. Religion has the ignominous property of enshackling the believer and thus preventing free thought which in turn prevents development of the mind and is in direct conflict with progression, progression is a sine qua non for Man to continue to exist on this planet or on others. Religion will one day fade away as will the strange folks called Hassidim.

Usually you post nonsense. This time I agree. It would teach Israel a lesson.

there's always wiki or if one shops at tiv taam. pigs are allowed for research (maybe now cos' of the swin flu) AND, what i heard... as long as a pig doesn't touch the ground of eretz israel. hence, i think/somebody told me -> the pigs are actually being "raised" - literally - above the ground they're not allowed to touch. like on a scaffolding :)

Israeli law does not prohibit work on Shabbat. The herediim however do break Torah law by their actions on Shabbat. Torah rules are not Israeli civil law. If you are not aware of the fact there really is a difference, th3en it is time you learn just what is in the Torah instead of spouting off like a headless geyser.
42. #30, you are wrong
tom ,   toronto, canada   (11.22.09)
first of all, in a normal country, laws are enforced by police, not by rioting vigilante hoodlums. *if* intel is breaking the law of the land, the police and not hareidi intimidation, should be used. second, biblical laws are NOT necessarily israeli laws. if you believe otherwise, you know little or nothing of the bible. the bible imposes the death penalty for many, many things, such as rebelling against a parent, or using god's name in vain, or adultery, or murder, none of which apply in israel today. and lastly, even if we were to take the bible literally, the laws of shabbat apply only to jews, and are not applicable to non-jews. intel is a multi-national corporation, owned by millions of shareholders, and by NO definition a jew, or bound to follow jewish practice. factories owned by non-jews do not need to close on shabbat, even by the strictest halakhic rulings. instead, the demonstrations should be against intel's hiring of jews. (jews rioting to demand jobs for non-jews - imagine that!) even so, it's certainly questionable whether demonstrating, throwing rocks, or trashing property is permitted on shabbat. there is plenty of halakhic precedent to forbid jewish violence against fellow jews. without legal or even halakhic basis, all that is left is a violent mob that acts without thinking, and that flaunts its disrespect for other jews and the rule of law. "dina di malkhuta dina!"
43. Dear Mr. Appleby:
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (11.22.09)
As you know, Sir, there is no one like you, not nearly like you, outside of England. You are a genuine "made in England" product. The same can be said about your boss, Jim Hacker. Therefore, even trying to imagine Mr. Hacker as Minister of Israeli Pig Farms is simply inconceivable and, even more so, is trying to imagine you as the head bureaucrat of Jerusalem Pig Affairs. I am sorry, Sir; I have appreciated your work and Mr. Hacker's as well for many years now so please, do not allow him to run for a seat in our Knesset. If he were, somehow or in some way, to actually win, it would be his ruination, and ours and, frankly, yours. In advance, I thank you. Regards, "What is English must remain English".

what about them?
46. Ben , i think that you are wrong
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (11.22.09)
The Torah says that : not you , nor your slave or animal shall work on Shabbat . In Israel it's prohibited to employ Jews this day , some have been fined for doing it . In Tel Aviv many cafes and restaurants are open Shabbat .
