1. Bund
Ricardo Macher ,   KarneiShomron Israel   (11.24.09)
Jewish Street is the modern equivalent of the Bund! They are not Zionists, they want to stay in the US and live there Judaism as they please (no mitzvot, no obligations) They are deffinitively anti Israel.
2. J street-Shmaystreet!
Alan ,   SA   (11.24.09)
3. J Street are the worst kind of traitors of their own people
Steven ,   Brussels - Belgium   (11.24.09)
4. Ricardo
Ehud ,   TA   (11.24.09)
The Bund, at least, was openly antizionistic and did not pretend what J streets does. Why do they do it? It is a potentially premeditated attempt to attract people who are pro Israel and artificially bolster their ranks with those naive. It is pure deception. I have no problem with somebody being against me. I get nauseated by people acting against me while pretending to be on my side.
5. So what?
Inyaki ,   Bilbao   (11.24.09)
I am a proud Basque Jew and I can't stand Peres, Barak, Liberman and many other israeli politicians. There is no rule I must always support them and give funds. JS- is a legitimate jewish organization.
6. j-street
alexi   (11.24.09)
j street ultimate goal like carter and tutu is a one state palestine with a jewish minority. Olmert and livni also accepted this though livni would say otherwise. Olmert would pay any price to stop rocket fire because he could not take blood and broken bodies. He broke. It was too much for such a weak man. I know j street and other do gooders like the EU and tony blair's wife and even russia. They could care less about israel. As does obama. He has zero connection to israel. I don't blame him. His bow to king fahd tells the whole story. He is a moslem if not on paper. Checkosloslovakia also was forced to make deals. Learn from history.
7. Thank God for JStreet
Desiree ,   Allentown USA   (11.24.09)
I like J-Street.. They are the voice of reason and it is ashame at how our own U.S government has lost their way - lost their values and ideals that this country was founded on. Israel has caused problems and confusion w/Americans the same way Germany was w/Nazism to its people. Finally we have J-strreet now get out AIPAC.
8. The J Street Joke
Jeffrey ,   Boston   (11.24.09)
J Street is like Goldstone. Put a Jewish face on Israel hatred and voila: Jew Hatred. Jew hatred comes in many forms. The Marxist President Obama and his boss George Soros lead the charge. They have cleverly put together a group of self loathing Jews to distort and hide their true views on the Jewish state. They hate Israel. Moreover, they have refined the art of the distortion of language as espoused by Alinsky and described by Orwell. That is, describe yourself and your goals with words that mean exactly the opposite of what your goals are and what you are trying to accomplish. Leftists can never be honest. They can't be honest because if they were they would have little to no support of the masses. They have to resort to lies to further their agenda. Perfect cases in point to illustrate my point: -Obama says he doesn't want to take over and run banks whilst he is in the process of taking over and running banks -Obama says he doesn't want to take over and run car companies whilst he is in the process of destroying bond holders and taking over and running car companies -Democrats express their desire to bring down the cost of healthcare while designing a new healthcare entitlement that will explode costs Jews and Israel won't be fooled by J Street.
9. J for Judas
Seth ,   Washington, DC   (11.24.09)
10. j street ,not pro- iarael!
OZ   (11.24.09)
here's a left- wing, self hating group of liberal jews who main dogma is a mirro of this current administration- appease our enemy, and chastise our friends. j- street is a vehement anti- israel organization with roots and finaces deep in the moslem, anti semetic crowd.boycott all of their meetings and"leaders"!
11. :: J Street not pro-Israel *enough*
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (11.24.09)
You just can't please some people can you? J Street is trying to promote peace yet some people will criticize it for not being 'pro-pro-Israel'. Just because J Street doesn't cater for the rabid rightwing, Arab/Muslim hating, UN fearing, 'god-gave-us-this-land' sector of Israeli society doesn't mean that J Street is not pro-Israel. The likes of Silverman and say the violent illegal settlers in the Palestinian WB will never be happy with J Street because it does not promote the rabid rightwing agenda or because it doesn't pile on 'hasbarah'. As is typical Silverman plays the usual, tiresome, game of attacking J Street for not being 'Jewish enough' for not being 'pro-Israeli enough'. In this article Silverman: Tries to defame J Street for having backing from 'anti-Israeli' elements. Tries to assert that J Street does not use strong enough terminology ie: 'Gaza Crisis' (Actually J Street uses both 'Conflict' and 'Crisis' in relation to Gaza but don't expect Silverman to tell you that). Tries to infer that J Street does not condemn Hamas rocket attacks (even though J Street state: "J Street has condemned Hamas rocket attacks on southern Israel and shares Israel's overriding goal of ending the rocket fire raining down on Israeli civilians") Tries to infer that J Street 'justifies Palestinian rocket fire' by misquoting J Street. Silverman quotes: "Palestinian people nurture an anger that leads some to armed struggle." the actual quote is: "The Palestinian people are likely to continue to nurture an anger that leads some to armed struggle as long as there is no mutually accepted resolution to the underlying political conflict." Obviously J Street is stating a valid opinion and not 'justifies Palestinian rocket fire'. Tries to assert that J Street omits certain 'details/facts' from its statements. Would Silverman be happy if J Street was to over all facts including the fact that 1,441 Palestinian children have been killed by Israel since 2000? Tries to suggest that J Street is not sympathetic enough to the Israelis living under Gaza rocket fire, I note that Silverman does not suggest that J Street is not sympathetic enough to the Palestinians living under Israel attack and collective punishment. Lastly Silverman claims that J Street is a 'pro-Palestinian organization' without providing any evidence for this claim. I look forward to J Street going from strength to strength and promoting meaningful American leadership to end the Arab/Israeli conflict. Articles like the one from Silverman and the rabid opinions of blindly narrow-minded and bigoted 'pro-Israel' supporters will not hamper J Street's work.
12. snivelling
London Guy ,   London   (11.24.09)
What a snivelling piece of claptrap. The author seems to think that "pro-Israel" can only be a position taken by those with maximalist, expansionist, racist opinions. She does not appear to have a brain large enough to consider that in the polarised politics of the Middle East there are two ways of looking at things: a) peace brought about by maximalist positions and by bashing all non-Jews in the district (i.e. continuation of 60 years of failed policies) b) equal rights, democractic freedoms, a cessation of the repression of non-Jews in Israel, etc - all the good lefty concepts. Whether the author likes it or not, many people in the US and in Europe, Jews and non-Jews, hold that method B is more in accord with 21st century thinking, with concepts of equality and human rights, and that method B is a way of ensuring peace. To slur J Street (and I am not a member) as "pro-Palestinian" is simply a pathetic old canard that doesn't wash any more. It is a piece of "hasbara" journalist cobbled together by Ms Silverman who is obviously the paid hack of the Sderot Media Center.
13. Anyone offering an alternative is a leftie
ussishkin ,   tel aviv israel   (11.24.09)
If you dare to come up with a different view to the Netanyahu government, if you dare to question the monopoly of AIPAC in the US, you face the worst criticism of all - Leftie! Of course JStreet is pro-Israel and pro-Peace. It wants what every Israeli opinion poll consistently says, a 2 state solution, an end to the violent conflict, and to rockets on Sderot - which successive governments of Israel virtually ignored for 7 years. As to budget, it will take JStreet a long time to reach parity with AIPAC and $70 million a year, but the need for a more balanced debate on the conflict is urgent. Its urgent if only so that the next time an Israeli Prime Minister thinks he can flout the President because there's always an AIPAC to support him, he'll have to take into account that there's another lobby group to counterbalance that fall back position. Its time for American Jews to speak out honestly to Israel and if anyone in the Diaspora is likely to get a hearing its from America. Its equally not such a bad thing for Israelis to be reminded of their Jewish heritage and the moral values on which that rests.
14. Look who the donors are, then you will know whom they
m   (11.24.09)
represent. Arab countries, Soros, do they mean Jstreet is pro Israel to anyone?
15. ussishkin #13 simply not true
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (11.24.09)
I am firmly against the leftist Netanyahu government. So call me a leftie - I dare you. We should immediately end the import of power, water, food, fuel, medicine, etc. into Gaza. They have another border. We should expell the illegal squatters in Judea and Samaria. Protecting our citizens too are Jewish heritage and moral values.
16. J Street
Shimon ,   Cincinnati, USA   (11.24.09)
This is an organization without much by way of morals, ethics or backbone. They appear willing to appease anyone with money enough to buy them. Who ascribes to their view points? Certainly not me. I believe that in order to speak on the topic there's got to be credibility. They have not served in the IDF, lived in Sderot nor the North. It's very easy to sit in an office in America and preach. Maybe three years of service in the IDF would grant them some balance in their "viewpoints". Better? Learn to stand on your own two feet and behind peace...true peace for your people and not phony, left wing, kiss ass positions so prevalent among the morally bankrupt.
17. Iranian new tactic.
Ibrahim El-Awal ,   Dearborn, USA   (11.24.09)
Oh, yes. Destroy them from within. J street located in Washington, not in Sderot, wants to tell Palestinians and Israeli what to do. Their advice has no accountability, if it fails...too bad! Jews, Arabs, Iranians who do not live in the Holy Land have no right to tell those who live there what to do. J Street already gave false hopes to Palestinians by supporting unrealistic attitudes. J Sreets supports Palestinian terror and homicide bombing, this is not a benign attitude.
18. J-Street is a threat to Israel
Brod ,   USA   (11.24.09)
J-Street does not know the GOD of Israel and the Land of Israel. They are not true Jews. They are becoming a tool of the Islamist-Jihadist and AntiSemite world to undermine Israel's national security interests and existence. So-called christians who support them are nothing but fake christians who are AntiSemites.
19. Israel is finally realizing what I've been saying for months
Shalom   (11.24.09)
that ‘J Street’ which stands for ‘Jihad Street’ is a host to Islamic groups and Arab/Muslim terrorists.
20. Who are you Mar Silverman to define what pro-Israel is?
Avi ,   USA   (11.24.09)
One difference between your approach and J Street's is that while you deligitimize any opinion that differes from yours, J Street acknowledges that there are many perspectives and that a constructive debate is necessary. Your behaviour is an example of Stalinism - McCarthyism in action. J Streets illustrates the values of democracy. P.S. Mar Silverman, in this context, please don't lecture about Jewish democracy.
21. #9 Perfect comparison, thank you.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.24.09)
22. J STREET = SPIN STREET
David   (11.24.09)
all that J Street represents is spun for it's own personal agenda that runs counter to all American, Jewish and Israeli interests
23. Well Spoken #12
World Citizen ,   the world   (11.24.09)
The fact that a pro-Palestinian group would contribute to J-Street means only that they agree with the positions espoused by J-Street. It doesn't mean they run the organisation. Many Jews in the USA realize there is a way to peace that doesn't require constant war or the ethnic cleansing of all things Palestinian, Muslim, Christian, or Arab. For way too long Jewish organisations like AIPAC have defined the issues as they saw fit and the end result has been to make the volatile situation in the whole Middle East more explosive. They have weakened the security of Israel, not strengthened it. It is time for a new paradigm. J-Street may be part of it.
24. J St.
Ralph Crevoshay ,   San Diego, Californi   (11.24.09)
The enemies of peace are at it again - distorting, exaggerating, and demonizing J St. and its mission. Know this Mr. Silverman - we are for peace, we LOVE Israel, and and we will not go away. So instead of talking trash about us why don't you listen and learn?
25. The truth sets in - finally
Thomas ,   USA   (11.24.09)
It's time that we don't regard ourselves as a monolithic tribe and recognize the fact, namely, we are just like any other nation. We have our share of KAPOS, traitors, mamzers, collaborator Quislings, snitchers-informers etc. to the utmost satisfaction of the "matty groves" of the world who infest the web. Remember the bloody rule of Yagoda, Kaganovich, Bela Kun, who murdered and betrayed their Jewish brethren without a modicum of compunction. The Jstreet is the Obamistas' clever scheme, an attempt to divide the Jews and destroy Israel. The remnants of the Bolshevik revolution of 1917 - like some on this forum - at it again. Don't you think that you look preposterous when you lament the hostility of the Arabs and Iranians yet you give a free pass to the internal enemies? Have you heard of Gideon Levi, T. Judt, Soros, and the Jewish coterie of the Obama Messiah lately?
26. J-Street are not true Jews. J-Street are KAPOS.
Never Again!   (11.24.09)
27. J Street is Neturei Karta without the frisbee hats
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (11.24.09)
28. If J Street wishes to express its views which oppose those
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (11.24.09)
of most Israelis, it should engage in a discussion with Israelis based on the assumption that in the final analysis only they are in a position of participating in the democratic process of Israel, part of which is voting and shouldering the consequences of their vote. If J Street insists on "representing" what's "good for Israel" to the Ameircan body politics while not acting as representatives of the Israeli public, they in my mind not "pro Israel" but in word, in slogan. We Israelis don't mind listening to others, especially to other Jews. But, in the finaly analysis, it is for us, citizens of a sovereign state, to decide what's good and what's bad for us. I suggest J Street people cease their arrognace approach to Israel and instead joining its public, either by moving to reside here and contribute directly to Israel's policies, or by voicing their opinions but only to those who reside here.
29. Avi #20 we here in Israel have that right
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (11.24.09)
In case you haven't noticed we are the ones betting lives not you. Mr. Silverman is on the front lines itself in Sderot. He has earned that right, you and the rest of extreme leftists are the ones that attempt to stiffle our right to free speech, why? Part of democracy includes to the right to point out that when somebody encourages our enemies and denigrates us when we defend ourselves. We EARNED that right with our sweat our blood, you have not.
30. J Street is the brainchild of Jimmy Carter and George Soros
Gershon   (11.24.09)
J Street was founded in 2008 by Jimmy Carter, George Soros, Yossi Beilin and leftist Jewish groups with the goal to weaken the pro-Israel lobby. Even Eric Yoffie, leader of Reform Judaism, broke with J Street because they "could find no moral difference between the actions of Hamas...and the long-delayed response of Israel, which...responded to the pleas of its battered citizens in the south." J Street receives money from Arab and Muslim donors (including US State Dept. officials with Saudi and Egyptian connections) who are also members of J Street's finance committee. J Street's advisory council includes members who seek Israel's destruction as a Jewish state i.e. Robert Malley, a Hamas and Hizbollah apologist (who was forced to resign as Obama's Mideast advisor after it was found he had been secretly meeting with Hamas and the Syrians).
