1. Build, Build, Build. This is JEWISH land and Jews build
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.26.09)
homes on JEWISH land. Imagine yariv calling himself a "Secretary General" as if he was something other than a fifth columnist dedicated to the destruction of Israel.
2. 10 MONTH FREEZE ???
Ely Greenhut ,   Tzfat Israel   (11.26.09)
It was done for a reason, I guess, A huge percentage of the Palestinian economy relies on construction jobs from new Jewish homes in Yegudah & Shomron. Stop building Jewish homes the Palestinian economy collapses & so does their false leadership. The 10 month freeze will not achieve peace, in fact, it will make things worse, more unrest when more west bank Jordanians are unemployed. There are so many foreign workers in Israel that would be able to work in building jobs, best to hire them instead west bank Jordanians. Dubai is doing the same for their massive construction, Israel should do the same.
3. Israeli BS
Mikesailor ,   Miami, FL   (11.26.09)
So, the settlers continue to build despite Netanyahu's so-called 'freeze'. So, what else is new? The Israelis have continued building since '67 despite agreements not to do so encompassed witjin the Oslo agreements, the Road Map and Annapolis. No Israeli government has had the guts to say no to the settlement enterprise. No enforcement even when specifically ordered by Israeli courts. Instead. more lies and stalling tactics. It seems the BDS movement will turn out to be the only effective tool against the anarchic regime that is Israel.
4. considering its not eneough to make palestinians talk so bui
zionist forever   (11.26.09)
The palestinians are insisting that the freeze include Jerusalem which is Bibis red line and they are refusing to even sit and talk unless there is a freeze that includes Jerusalem so lets not sit and beg for Abbas to come and talk keep building. When Abbas makes a gesture of his own like saying I want to sit and talk then we can consider a freeze in Judea & Samaria ( not Jerusalem ). Why should we make big concessions like that when Abbas doesn't even want to talk? BUILD BUILD BUILD
5. To add to Ely's (#2) comment,
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (11.26.09)
While Arab contractors, skilled tradesmen and labourers get all the work, Jewish contractors and skilled workers get none because they can't compete with the prices charged by people who pay no taxes and have few expenses compared to Israeli Jews. So we are shooting ourselves in the foot the way things are now.
6. We must NEVER tolerate another settlement freeze.
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.26.09)
When Israel voted for a rightist government, Israel wasn't fooling. Israel wanted a rightist government. Israel rejects the sick appeasing path of the left. Israel rejects settlement freezes and the abominable Two State Final Solution. Israel will no longer tolerate having sick leftist policies force fed to us when we clearly reject them. Israel must NEVER tolerate another settlement freeze. This tiny land is ours now and forever.
7. An existing treaty: US pressure leading to freeze is illegal
Rachel ,   Jerusalem   (11.26.09)
How come Ynet isn't talking about The Office for Israeli Constitutional Law (Justice Now!) efforts to stop the U.S. pressure that led to this decision? The OFICL sent a letter to Clinton, the State Dept. treaty compliance division, the US Justice Dept.'s inspector Gen., and others this week demanding the U.S. stop the pressure that under a treaty violates Israel's border rights which include Judea & Samaria...AKA the West Bank, all Jerusalem, etc.. Under the treaty, the US recognized the rights of Jews to settle anywhere within these borders. OFICL is filing a lawsuit in the US district Court to force the Obama Govt to comply according to the principle of estoppel, which prohibits Obama from doing anything, either by action or words that contradict a prior commitment, like the treaty in question. The press release and letter are on the JusticeNow4israel.com web site. Doesn't ynet want the world to know Israel has legal rights to these lands? The sources are all there.
8. Yesha Council objects
observer   (11.26.09)
it looks like Israel has allowed self autonomy over the West Bank, But, it is autonomy for only the Occupying Jews.
9. #1 A load of garbage.
Addle ,   Toronto   (11.26.09)
Jewish land you say? Well, no international law or convention ever has Palestine written as "land for the Jews only" or "Property of the Jewish people". The rest is garbage.
10. # 7
Birdi ,   Israel   (11.26.09)
Rachel, thanks for this info.
11. #7 an existing treaty is completely different from
observer   (11.27.09)
the existing treaty. stop bluffing.
12. # 9
Birdi ,   Israel   (11.27.09)
Read talkback # 7, the read take a look at the website she provides. Not garbage at all.
13. Much Ado About Nothing
Norman Gellman ,   Rehovot, Israel   (11.27.09)
The settlers are making much ado about nothing. 1. A 10 month delay is only for new housing other building is going on. 2. The delay is only for new starts, building in progress will continue. 3. Most important the Palestinians will reject the deal. 4. The USA administration will see the Palestinians as obstructionists, they want all or nothing. Overall the 10 month moratorium is a good political move. The settlers should not seem to be against peace talks. Their best strategy would be to keep silent and wait.
