31. Mike Van Harris - Moses
Oren ,   Or Yehuda   (12.01.09)
Mike Let us assume you are correct. The Jewish King David built the city walls 3000 years ago. Evidence of 2 Jewish temples exist in Jerusalem. There has been a Jewish presence in the city for 3000 years. Jerusalem has been the capital of Israel and the Jews for 3000 years. Can the Arab immigrants match that? Nope. Even when there were Arabs living in Jerusalem, they were the minority. In fact, the Muslim claim to Jerusalem is minor. Does not exist in the Koran. The claim to Jerusalem only started in the 1930s
32. To: No. 16 - Second Attempt
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.01.09)
Palestinian Arabs "indigenous?" What a load of crap. The following is an excerpt from Mark Twain's "Innocents Abroad," which puts paid once and for all to the Palestinian myth of lush olive groves and orchards. Hard to believe that the fertile and forested Galilee of today is the bleak, desolate and abandoned Galilee that Mark Twain visited. "Of all the lands there are for dismal scenery, I think Palestine must be the prince. The hills are barren, they are dull of color, they are unpicturesque in shape. The valleys are unsightly deserts fringed with a feeble vegetation that has an expression about it of being sorrowful and despondent. The Dead Sea and the Sea of Galilee sleep in the midst of a vast stretch of hill and plain wherein the eye rests upon no pleasant tint, no striking object, no soft picture dreaming in a purple haze or mottled with the shadows of the clouds. Every outline is harsh, every feature is distinct, there is no perspective -- distance works no enchantment here. It is a hopeless, dreary, heart-broken land. " "Palestine sits in sackcloth and ashes. Over it broods the spell of a curse that has withered its fields and fettered its energies. Where Sodom and Gomorrah reared their domes and towers, that solemn sea now floods the plain, in whose bitter waters no living thing exists -- over whose waveless surface the blistering air hangs motionless and dead -- about whose borders nothing grows but weeds, and scattering tufts of cane, and that treacherous fruit that promises refreshment to parching lips, but turns to ashes at the touch. Nazareth is forlorn; about that ford of Jordan where the hosts of Israel entered the Promised Land with songs of rejoicing, one finds only a squalid camp of fantastic Bedouins of the desert; Jericho the accursed, lies a moldering ruin, to-day, even as Joshua's miracle left it more than three thousand years ago; Bethlehem and Bethany, in their poverty and their humiliation, have nothing about them now to remind one that they once knew the high honor of the Saviour's presence; the hallowed spot where the shepherds watched their flocks by night, and where the angels sang Peace on earth, good will to men, is untenanted by any living creature, and unblessed by any feature that is pleasant to the eye. Renowned Jerusalem itself, the stateliest name in history, has lost all its ancient grandeur, and is become a pauper village; the riches of Solomon are no longer there to compel the admiration of visiting Oriental queens; the wonderful temple which was the pride and the glory of Israel, is gone, and the Ottoman crescent is lifted above the spot where, on that most memorable day in the annals of the world, they reared the Holy Cross. The noted Sea of Galilee, where Roman fleets once rode at anchor and the disciples of the Saviour sailed in their ships, was long ago deserted by the devotees of war and commerce, and its borders are a silent wilderness; Capernaum is a shapeless ruin; Magdala is the home of beggared Arabs; Bethsaida and Chorazin have vanished from the earth, and the "desert places" round about them where thousands of men once listened to the Saviour's voice and ate the miraculous bread, sleep in the hush of a solitude that is inhabited only by birds of prey and skulking foxes."
33. Mikha, ignore Post No. 27
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.01.09)
The poster at No. 27 is, sadly, quite deluded. When his ridiculous arguments are ripped to shreds (it happens to him quite a lot, actually), he resorts to insults and name-calling -- the last refuge of the supremely ignorant and woefully uninformed. The poster at No. 27 is certainly all that, and considerably less.
34. this is a declaration of war against Israel!

35. Jerusalem was a Canaanite village before it was Jewish city
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (12.01.09)
The latest diggings show there was a small village there before King David build Jerusalem, possible an old Canaanite site. The Canaanites, Phoenicians and Egyptians were all in part of present day Israel over 3000yrs ago and Romans were there 2000yrs ago, all are thought to be non Jewish. The Canaanites lived all over present day Israel, while the Phoenicians where on the coast in the North and Egyptians on the coast where Gaza is today. Many Palestinian are their descendants but some are descendants from Turks, Arabs and Franks who came much later.
36. :: Eitan - #14
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (12.01.09)
Eitan as you accept the universally right of all peoples to national self-determination and independence you will no doubt recognize the need for the Palestinians to have a capital. Obviously Jerusalem is the only choice and in line with world opinion it will be divided. Israel can have one half, no more. However Israel has a long way to go yet before the International community will recognize West Jerusalem as Israel's capital. Israel must first withdraw from the WB and settle on permanent borders. Israel must first make peace with the Palestinians and accept a Palestinian State. Until this happens West Jerusalem will not be Israel's capital.
37. MAN WHO SAY SWEDEN IS ENEMY OF ISRAEL ...
ATİLLA KARAGÖZOĞLU   (12.01.09)
...MAN WHO IS DEEP TRUE ENEMY OF ISRAEL. NO9 NEED TO TALK MUCH. NO NEED.

Yaniv ,   Israel   (12.01.09)
39. Jerusalem?
Vikta ® ,   KM, Czech Republic   (12.01.09)
Why it should be Jerusalem? Why not Stockholm? There's more palestinians anyway...
40. Europe past divisions
Mikha ,   Nai' Kenya   (12.01.09)
Its amazing how European leaders sow the seeds of discord worldwide. They scrambled and partioned Africa, started world wars and supported dictatorial regimes for their ill gotten wealth.Belgium and swedish leaders being the worst of the worst. The infamous king leopold was especially cruel and evil in his dealings.Israel shares a symbiotic relation with us,remember the Entebbe rescue of Jewish captives we offered our assistance and we gain alot of food production technology and security co-ordination.Our nation is grateful to Israelis and supports the Jewish nation indeed. To those who plot or spread fake arab history in Israel I tell them you are the living dead and are doomed to defeat always.
41. Sweden & Jerusalem
Nili   (12.01.09)
Only the Jews pray facing the temple mount--their Holiest Site. The arabs face mecca and if you lived in Jerusalem you would know that they pray with their butts facing their precious 3rd holy site that they want for a capital. But total, ignorant babboons and anti-semitism seem to be permanently melded together.
42. It's funny how a "neutral" nation can rule on land disputes
Yaniv ,   Israel   (12.01.09)
43. To: No. 22
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.01.09)
You REALLY are woefully ignorant. 1. Eretz Canaan was promised to Abraham a little over 2000 B.C.E. Note that Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca, and Leah are all buried in the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron. 2. Moses led the Jewish people out of slavery in Egypt and back to Eretz Canaan, their birthright, approximately 1500 B.C.E. 3. Jerusalem as a city dates back to the Chalcolithic Period, roughly 4,500 B.C.E. It is identified as Jebus in the late Bronze Age, and was conquered by David in the late Iron Age, approximately 1000 B.C.E. The Jebusites were thought to be an Amorite tribe. From its conquest by David, it came to be known as Yirashalem (to see peace), which evolved subsequently to its present name, Yerushalayim. The Jebusites wandered north and linked up with their close-cousins, the Hittites and, like the Hittites, have disappeared into the dim recesses of time. Jews, on the other hand, are still here. So it has always been ours. It was never Arab. It was never Moslem. Arabs and Moslems, and even Christians, are latter-day squatters in the City of David, Yerushalayim, eternal capital of the Jewish people. The land was Israel and Judea LONG before it came under Roman control, which is when it acquired the name Palestine. Through its subsequent history, "Palestinians" referred only to Jews inhabiting Palestine. Christians were always known as Christians; Arabs -- few in number -- were first known as Saracens, and then Arabs. They were NEVER considered Palestinians -- only the Jews were. The Palestinians stole an identity which does not belong to them. Imitation is the highest form of flattery, but it should not deceive. Clearly, you've been duped. When the British mandate ended, the United Nations proposed the creation of two states: a Jewish one and an Arab one (not a "Palestinian" one). The Jews accepted partition, the Arabs did not and that was the first of a long, long series of crucial mistakes that the Arabs have made, and which continue to this day. Calling the Arabs "Palestinians" did not come about until 1969, I believe. Educate yourself.
44. TO NUMBER 24.
Arn-Orao. ,   Sweden-Srbia.   (12.01.09)
YES THIS IS ONE OF THE OFFICIAL WIEVS. HOWEVER THE LANGUAGE OF THE SAMI IS TURKISH LANGUAGE - FROM THE FINNO-UGRIC PART, AS TO A COMPARISON OF THE - URAL-ALTAIC PART(EX., HUNGARIAN). THOSE TWO PARTS ARE SPOKEN WEST OF AND EAST OF THE URAL MOUNTAINS IN RUSSIA, THE BOTH PARTS ARE TURKISH LANGUAGE. I AM SURE YOU WOULD AGREE TO THAT THE ANCESTOR OF ALL TURKISH PEOPLE - TUBAL, - A SON OF JAFET, CAN NOT BE 9000 YEARS OLD, NOR EVEN 7000 . BY THE WAY - YES THE SAMI PEOPLE AS INDOEUROPEAN TURKS, HAS MIXED WITH THE PEOPLE OF PRE-INDOEUROPEAN ANCESTRY, AS THE -INDOEUROPEAN MAGOG- PEOPLE WITH THE YELLOW RACE, AS THE CHINEESE OF TODAY. GODD BLESS THEE FURTHER SARAH !!!. Arn-Orao.
45. Bloodyscot - exactly the opposite
Oren ,   Or Yehuda   (12.01.09)
The Palestinians are not their descendents. There were none in this area. In actual fact, there were no Arabs The Cananites came from the tribes of Israel. Canaan is the former name of Israel before the Romans imposed a name. You are a victim of Arab propaganda. Before sprouting this, you should read the bible, the Old testament.
46. #40 Glad to hear that Mikha
Yaniv ,   Israel   (12.01.09)
Netafim and our drip arrogation technology of applying water straight to the root of the plant seems so simple, but it has revolutionized agriculture in Israel and now Africa and other places in the world. I always smirk when I see blacks in America covert to Islam, because they see Christianity as a white religion that enslaved them, when Muhammad himself was a black slave owner, which Jesus never was. White Europeans actually used other white Europeans as slaves and learned black slave trade from the Arabs, who by that time already had centuries of experience. I heard that 4 million Africans are leaving Islam every year. If it's true, I wonder why.
47. Adding to your post, Number 41, Nili, it should be noted
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (12.01.09)
that Jerusalem, for many hundreds of years while under Muslim control Jerusalem was a neglected little town that few would even come to visit. Jerusalem has re-gained in importance: religious, political and economic, only upon the re-arrival of the Jewish population in large numbers. But of course, otherwise intelligence people tend to dismiss Nili's observation as well as this information. I wonder, why...??
48. End of Peace Process!
Mohammed Aghawani ,   Raamallah, PNA   (12.01.09)
Why are you all concerned? Since when a declaration irritates Israel? All UNGA & UNSC Resolutions, Peace Treaties, HR Resolutions, International Courts advisory opinions, and other International understandings concerning Israel, Palestine and Middle East are resting in drawers, and never posed a threat to Israel. The Whole world recognizes Israel as a sovereign state, and the whole world is living peacefully with the fact that Israel is the sole exceptional state beyond International norms and treaties. I do not understand why Israel is still claiming that there is a peace process. We keep reading Israeli officials statements that Israel has no partner for peace … and now with the coming EU declaration (if declared and if made a difference), Officials are saying that this declaration harms the peace process. The facts on the ground shows a situation best described as an occupation power which is killing people, imprisoning people, isolating regions, confiscating lands, demolishing houses, oppressing freedoms. Simply, controlling every and each aspect of the Palestinian life. And yet, the world is living with it. So why bother? Let the EU declaration join other papers in drawers.
49. Sweden & Switzerland are not the same:-)

50. Mr. Carl Bildt involved in creating the muslim state Bosnia
Johnny ,   Stockholm Sweden   (12.01.09)
The creation of Bosnia was heavily supported by the work of mr. Carl Bildt, the incumbent swedish foreign minister, and EU foreign "minister". Look at the state of Bosnia today. It is the haven for human trafficking, and drug smuggling. This is the crown achievement of mr. Carl Bildt.
51. Mohammed, No. 48: A question
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (12.01.09)
Do you, Mr. Aghawani, accept Israel's RIGHT to be, to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people, be it based on League of Nations decisions, UN resolutions or the universally accepted right of all peoples to national self-determination and independence, including the Jewish people? I am very eager to read an direct answer, without ifs ands or buts. Thank you, Eitan Qatzrin, Israel
52. #49 Both Switzerland and Sweden claimed to be neutral powers
Yaniv ,   Israel   (12.01.09)
and both have violated their neutrality several times. If you thought I had confused Sweden with Switzerland like many Americans do, I am too well-traveled and cultured to make such a mistake. :)
53. If Israel doesnt like it then cut diplomatic & economic ties
Ezra ,   London   (12.01.09)
with the EU. See if we care. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
54. Oren, Or Yehuda - thats prob the dumbest thing I've read in
Ezra ,   TA   (12.01.09)
these talk back. go and read a book you illiterate
55. #48 Back to reality, Mohammed
Yaniv ,   Israel   (12.01.09)
By saying that the whole world recognizes Israel's sovereignty, you obviously are excluding Iran and the Arab League, et al. You call Hamas a partner for peace, who fired more rockets out of Gaza than ever before, after we pulled-out of Gaza as a gesture of peace? Of course you don't. You see the "moderate" holocaust denier Abbas as a partner for peace, who came out the other day criticizing Hamas for negotiating with Israel. Abbas was also one of the first to shake the hand and congratulate Samir Kuntar on his release, the cold blooded terrorist who bashed in the head of an Israeli toddler. There is only Arabs fighting for power, no partner for peace. You must be kidding when you say oppressing freedoms. What freedoms do people in Gaza have, especially the women? The fact on the ground is that Israel is taking defense measures, and that involves arresting, killing, destroying property used by terrorists. Any civilized nation with defense and law enforcement would do the same, only a lot more violent and careless of civilian lives than Israel is. Go and preach to your Arab friends what can be done to improve Arab nations instead. You are light years behind us in civilized society.
56. #53 Jerusalem is not for sale
Yaniv ,   Israel   (12.01.09)
and we make too much good stuff for you to stop trading with us, especially within the high-tech sector, where we have you beat.
57. The venom of AntiSemitism
Brod ,   USA   (12.01.09)
It is appaling to see the venom of AntiSemitism that has swept some Western countries that they are willing to support the causes of Islamist-Jihadism in their crusade against Israel. In WWII AntiSemites and Islamist-Jihadists converged to exterminate 6 million Jews in the Holocaust. Today, they still continue to imbibe their cesspool of AntiSemitism venom. The Bible is clear about the leader of these dark forces. It is none other than Satan and his demons! Israel should tell them to go to Hell and mind their own business.
58. # 48 Mohammed Aghawani...
Josef Matamoros ,   Finland   (12.01.09)
...from Rama, Israel: study Arab actions since 1920's until today. The result: Arab initiated terrorism that continues ever since, Arab initiated wars, ethnical cleansing, twisting of facts. Oslo brought along the transformation of terrorist organization PLO into PA, however, the PLO still aims the same old, id est, destruction of Israel, whatever means, slow or rapid, war, terrorism or diplomacy. Oslo is dead, thanks to the Arabs. Israel extends from the sea to the river. Live with it, be loyal to Israel or move freely back where you came from.
59. #48
Eyal ,   USA   (12.01.09)
The facts on the ground show that the Palestinians are ruthless, terrorists with rockets, who would blow up a Jewish child if they had the chance. So don't talk like the Pals are so nice and innocent. If people like Kuntar or the terrorists involved with 9/11 are applaud with happiness throughout the west Bank or Gaza, you call them peaceful people? It seems to me you moral is a bit twisted. To be frank with you, the Palestinians are barbarians with no brains, which make them very dangerous. Also, you talk about all these bodies (UN this and UN that, resolutions this), what about what G-D promised the Jewish people? If you pull up the Bible or the Torah, you will read from the river in the west (Jordan), to the sea in the east (Mediterranean) and from the Red Sea to the Litany River (Lebanon)? Look at that, even part of Lebanon belongs to Israel. I personally think you should pack up and leave, if you want to live. Good luck. The time to give the Palestinian parasites any legitimacy is over.
60. Sweden, Israel, Srbia and Bosnia
Haider ,   Gothenburg, Sweden   (12.01.09)
I get it now after reading #50. That´s why #15 is ashamed of being a Swede. Have you people forgotten how much Sweden has contributed to the safety of people in need dating back to the 2nd WW with their WHITE BUSSES and all.
