I am not looking for Israel to make the US into an enemy, but rather to see reality. To see America for what she is; a nation with interests in the region, that less and less are centered on Israel, her welfare and her security. Like you wrote, "Israel will have to bend somewhat to the pressure from the Obama administration during the next few years...." Somewhat may be an understatement. I suggest that Israel work to become more self-sufficient; to begin weaning herself off US aid and dependency. It might take some belt-tightening. I am not suggesting Israel discontinue buying American-made weapons. At one point in time Israel was working toward the production of a fine, state of the art jet fighter, the Lavi. US officials pressured Israel to discontinue the project. That was a mistake. Whatever it takes, Israel must become more and more independent; not necessarily isolated. If isolation or near isolation happens as a result, then it happens. I do not support the sort of immoral concessions Israel has been and is being asked to make by the Bush and now the Obama administration. I do not support the concessions Israel is currently making in freezing building in our land. Americans would not do this. Why should Israel? These immoral demands, as you suggest, will only intensify.
