conflict. The Arabs' total, consistent and persistent refusal to accept Israel's right to be, to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people has been the essence of the Arab Israeli conflict. And until we overcome this hurdle, there is little chance the conflict can be brought to an end. Therefore, with the absence of "end of conflict", which the Arabs also refuse to accept even as part of a peace agreement, Israel must retain much territory to protect its sovereignty and the very life of its citizens from those who call in their Charters to annihilate the Jewish state and erase all traces of Jewish civilization in it. And since they have attempted to achieve this declared goal more than once or twice, Israel must demand security guarantees, including recognition of Israel's right to be, total demilitarization and territories which would give it the depth it needs to defend itself.

" "Settlements" abviously have never been the core of the conflict." Youre right. The illegal settlement enterprise is not at the core of the conflict, but it certainly is a major issue at hand. You obviously failed to look at the implications of this continued illegal practice. The more the settlements, the more Palestinian land gets stolen. Consequently, there will be less land for a Palestinian state. Face it. Israel is illegally occupying the West Bank. It has to withdraw if it wants peace. "The Arabs' total, consistent and persistent refusal to accept Israel's right to be, to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people has been the essence of the Arab Israeli conflict. " You failed to enlighten yourself with history. In 1978, Israel completed a successful negotiation with its top adversary in the region, Egypt. The Egyptian army was the strongest among those of the Arab states. It was stronger than the Hezbollah and Hamas of today. It was Israel's number one adversary. Let's look at what happened. Egypt recognized Israel (peace) and, in effect, Israel gave back what was rightfully Egyptian, the Sinai desert (land). It's the good old Land for Peace formula. The Palestinians supported the International consensus of the 1970s, which called for the two state settlement. Israel voted against it. The PLO, under the leadership of Arafat, recgonized Israel during the Oslo Peace process. Unfortunately, Rabin was assassinated ans the succedding Israeli leadership failed to continue in his steps. Abbas of the Fatah faction recognized Israel during the Annapolis, MD peace talks in 2008. Israel failed to meet the demands. In 2002, the Arab state in attendance in the Arab league voted in favor of the Saudi-initiated peace plan, which called for normalization of ties with Israel and acceptance of the two state settlement. Hamas' delegation signed the document as well at the Arab League. Hamas halted all suicide attacks as of 2004, something it was notorious for and for good reason. Taba talks in 2001. Why did Taba end? Barak withdrew his negotiators and turned in a TEN PAGE REPORT full of reservations. Eitan, you are a pathological liar and un unenlightened sorry fool. "those who call in their Charters to annihilate the Jewish state and erase all traces of Jewish civilization in it. " Who cares about the charters? They are merely pieces of paper. Look at their actions, instead. Anyways, they dont have the means of achieving that. Israel can obliterate the Middle East with its 250 nukes. It possesses the superior military of the region with sohpisticated military weaponry. Eitan, please enlighten me by expalining how the Arabs would go about "destroying" Israel and wiping from the region. Do please. "total demilitarization and territories which would give it the depth it needs to defend itself. " What a silly person you are. Israel has the 4th strongest military of the world. It has nothing to fear from the Arabs. It doesnt need to demilitarize others in order to "defend" itself. Once it is threatened with destruction, it could use its nukes as a way to deter its enemies. That's why countries have nukes, Eitan. By the way, once you are illegally occupying territory, you are no longer "defending yourself." Note to Eitan: Dont regurgitate the propaganda told by your "leaders." Learn to think for yourself.
3. Settlements....
Jennie ,   NYC   (12.01.09)
Since the creation of refugee camps in Gaza over 30 year ago and Jordan's refusal to join Gaza to their sovereignity, the schem about existence of a palestinian people and palestinian homeland has began ..They got the attention and symphaty of the Free World and are masters of deceit , selling their lies and creating catchy fake slogans. They know how to find new reasons for never achieving peace with Israel and justify terror. The popularity of a fraudulent palestinian cause and the support of their so-called "resistance" around the Free World, has a lot to do with the rise of the radical Islamic Terrorism around the world.. And Israel has the full right and especially an obligation to see it and to call it for what it realy is - a brutal attempt to wipe Israel off the map. Natanyahu had started something good and bold, never demonstrated by Israel before: demending the recognition of Israel as the State of The Jewish people...He caused a deep shock to the Abbas government and to terror groups...Suddenly Natanyahu's proclamation turned the game to Israel's favour. But now he needs to act on it and hold on to every inch of the land and not to be afraid to speak up about it...Natanyahu may be the first statesman, who openly authenticated the the palestinian's main charter: Innihilation of Israel and the Jewish people....
4. Is Germany still dictating terms to Austria?
James Hovland ,   USA   (12.01.09)
I'd don't think annexing territory works as well as Israel seems to think. I know this doesn't make a lot of sense to the proclaimed "chosen people" but the rest of the word doesn't lend any real authority to your religious beliefs. Israel has recognized borders. Any Israeli settlements outside of those borders are illegal. These attempted land grabs, also known as "facts on the ground", or "settlements", are not assets that Israel gets to keep, they are evidence of Israel's contempt for international law. Appeasement on an issue of this nature would set a very dangerous precedent. It doesn't matter how Israel votes on this issue, it's not your land. Now, remember when Israel was created against the will of Palestine? We're about to see that again, but this time Palestine rises.
5. pigs will fly before Bibi starts building again
zionist forever   (12.01.09)
Netanyahu announces what he calls a 10 month freeze. So we don't build then 10 months later under pressure from Obama & the arabs he announces as a goodwill gesture in the name of peacemaking he has agreed to another 10 months. This is only a temporary freeze I promise you we will start building again in another 10 months. We just keep holding a series of TEMPORARY freezes. Officially we intend to start building again once the freeze is over but the reality is the freeze is permament as long as Bibi is PM and Obama is president.

pressures you again do you tack on another 3,6, or 10 months? when does this line of reasoning- built from pressure, end? Rather, 1) announce 1 month prior to actions, Israels ending of utility (gas, electric, foods, supplies) to Gaza. This will force Egypts hand at being the supplier to their fellow Arabs. Egypt will then be responsible for Gazan life 2) Destabilize Jordans leadership- a foreign occupying minority. Bring in Palestinian state. 3) Annex Judea/Samaria. Give resident status to Arabs in these areas. They can be citizens of Palestine-Jordan 4) Those that violently resist- arrested, deported to Palestine/Jordan. This is the skeletal structure of what to do.

BBSNews ,   Charlotte, NC   (12.01.09)
Oh Bibi, you are taking Israel down a very dark road. It is clear from your words here that you have no intention of ever coming to a fair and just peace agreement. But that's OK. Keep on slapping President Obama. And then when you go crying about the US unilateral decision to recognize Palestine with the '67 borders, there won't be nary a peep of an outcry from anywhere in the world because at least 150 other countries are champing at the bit to do so right now. Just keep on with the wild-eyed pushing. You are making so many American friends with your callous behavior towards US efforts to forge a peace agreement, it's hard to see how Israel will survive your administration Bibi.

No one here is impressed with your loud hysteria and who are you kidding about illegality...Last time I checked, Israel liberated Jerusalem and the West Bank over a bloody defensive war, the neighboring countries waged on them. Do you think palestinians have a legitimate state or do they even want one ?Nope...Your pathetic chantings of "stolen" lands, combined with your declarations about Arafat, who supposedly voted for Israel ever or in Camp David, makes you look delinquent...If the palis, namely chamas, fattah&hisbollah would ever recognize Israel, what would they have left to do? Stop emabarrasing yourself....

"Who are you trying to kid Noor????" Noone. Your 3 websites defend my argument. "www.nytimes.com/2006/"04/18/world/middleeast/18mideast.html" Yes, the attack was carried out by Islamic Jihad, as the article suggested. Hamas did not take part in it. "en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Hamas_suicide_attacks" 2004: fatah, al aqsa martyrs, 2005: al aqsa martys, popular resistance committees adl website no hamas attacks as of august 2004 Your sites proved me right. As I said, Hamas has halted attacks since August of 2004. I recall saying the same thing in prior posts. You obviously haven't looked at the sites. You are hopeless. "You learn to get your facts straight before you criticize others here." Looks like this doesn't apply to me now, does it? You just made yourself look like a fool.

Whats up with that? You are just wildly scared, that Israel is finally showing some mussle and integrity as they should...Just like any other legitimated State in the world would !67 borders? not in your life...After 6 defensive wars Israel won, do you know any other country in the world, who would let itself to be destructed? Learn to think for yourself, you say. Do not regurgitate the propaganda of your leaders, you enjoin. We note with interest the omissions of your seemingly endless list of Arab advances for peace. Half truths most, overlooking the most basic and fundamental truths. I focus on one: of Arafat's supposed recognition of Israel. One of the conditions of the agreement that was to culminate in a two-state solution was the requirement to educate people to the new reality. This was a very important clause, since it helped to accustom people to the compromises that would inevitably have to take place. Instead, the Arab side, with Arafat at the lead, continued to stoke hatred and incitement. You can never deny that to this day, and certainly then, young children are brain-washed by learning math using examples of terror against Israelis. Songs of evil taught by cartoon characters. Insane. Nationalist songs of victory over all the Jews and Jerusalem. It was a disingenuous farce. It continued on after 2000 while he did nothing in his considerable power to stop the heinous terror bombings. The peace that was to arise did not fail because of Rabin's assassination. Ask Bill Clinton; to this day, he blames Arafat for the failure. He should surely know. There are other omissions. How Hamas split so violently from Fatah that it could not be trusted ever to uphold an agreement. That a new state could (and would) import any and all weapons it could. (Imagine if then Hamas takes over; explain to us how it is in the US interest to have yet another terrorist state itching to kill Israel). And then there is omission of the separation fence; not it, per se, but the bombs that led to it. Let's face it, before it was built, bombs were going off weekly. Don't think that your Arab brothers will stop after a peace agreement. How did you put it? Like charters, they are just pieces of paper. So, I am not going to call you silly, as you are wont to do. Only to ask that you think for yourself, and recognize that your arguments fall quite hollow on those who try to follow them. I am not a Jew, but I know many, and respect them. I know they pray daily for Jerusalem, as they have for millenia. Hey, they built it, and even the Koran recognizes the mount as the place of Solomon's glorious temple. So I think maybe the only reason Arabs want it is because Jews now want it. (Of course, if you want to invoke the thing about the flying horse... But even then, no one knows for sure where Mohamed went). Like when I watch my three year old play with a truck. Once his friend wants to play with it, he all of a sudden wants it.

Chaim ,   Israel   (12.01.09)
If Israel wanted a settlement freeze and the Two State Final Solution, Labor and Meretz would have won the election. Instead, the two strongest Two State Final Solution parties are disappearing. Israel totally rejects settlement freezes and the Two State Final Solution. There is no excuse for ANY settlement freeze. Even for a day. Settlement freezes send the false, and intolerable, message that this land isn't ours. Judea and Samaria ARE ours now and forever.

BBSNews ,   Charlotte, NC   (12.02.09)
...I thought the education system in NYC was improving, obviously not. My interest is in seeing Israel not destroy itself and take a large chunk of the planet with it.. Israel is not showing "mussle"[sic] - Israel is letting fierce religious driven nationalism drive it over a cliff over the illegal colonists. And yes, wild-eyed, you are showing the same signs of this pathos in your posts. There is no integrity in stealing land and resources. Can you steal your neighbors land in NYC at the point of a gun? Nope. That's not just because it is wrong, it's also illegal. If you do not understand the principle of the "inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by war" then you are not capable of even getting through the door in ANY respectable diplomatic circles. Jennie, please be the first person to address the above principle.
30. Kris Cooper, your argument is as mature as your 3-year old..
BBSNews ,   Charlotte, NC   (12.02.09)
...You'll note also in Clinton's book that he marked the day the PNA nearly unanimously recognized Israel as one of the more important of his Presidency. And it is still a fact, for all intents and purposes the Palestinians recognized Israel back in 1993. That's the position of the US government and has not changed. Feel free to feel otherwise, it won't make any difference in D.C.. Your knowledge of Hamas thwarting a coup by Fatah arranged by Mohammed Dahlan seems to have a few gaps in it. And Sharon's Gaza Disengagement Plan was designed to thwart Palestinian unity, not enhance it. You really need to expose yourself deeper to all the splinter groups besides Hamas. Hamas holds agreements. And those pieces of paper. Yeah, kind of problematic. Of course reading the Likud platform provides not a contrast but is itself extremely biased against Arab Palestinians. It too should be reflected to show Bibi agreed a state. When do you think it will ever be changed eh?
