1. All stands, with one correction
John ,   Europe   (12.02.09)
Yes, West Bank will be Palestinian state - no matter what small people say. Only, I guess, Jerusalem will not be Palestinian capital. I think more likely Rammlah.
2. This better not be true
Israeli 2   (12.02.09)
because if it is and Lieberman is also silent about it, then we do have a doomed mentality.
3. OF COURSE THIS IS A TOTAL FREEZE
zionist forever   (12.02.09)
Calling it a 10 month freeze is a way for him to sell the idea to the cabinet without causing to much friction within the coalition and allows him to try and save face. Then in 10 months he will make up an excuse to extend the freeze just a little longer but we will have his assurances that we will start building again this is only a short term goodwill gesture in the name of peace. Obama is going to start pushing him for a freeze or at the very least reduce it to a bare minimum in Jerusalem as well to satisfy Abbas. Bibi will say well I am putting that project on hold for now or rather than 900 units in Gilo we will only built 100 He won't call it a freeze and he wont mention Obama or the peace process he will make up some other excuse so it looks like this isnt a decission he was pushed into. There is also no way that Obama can threaten not to block any attempts by the Security Council resolutions recognizing an arab state with easy Jerusalem as its capital. Firstly the US doesn't want the palestinians going it alone. Obama knows if they go it alone there is no glory there for him and its going to lead to war rather than peace. Also in 10 months time we will be slowly approcaching 2011 which is an election year and Obama doesn't want any headaches in an election year. Certainly not another war between Israel & the palestinians and he knows trhe Republicans will say this is a war Obama could have avoided if only he vetoed the resolution. How many of his jewish voters will be choosing him again if they think that through now vetoing the resolution he has allowed a war to take place and the total collapse of any peace initiative its all over. Congress also want this solution to be negotiated and they want it to be one America can take credit for not allowing this state to come about as a result of a European resolution allow them to get all the credit.
4. Every step the Israeli government takes is a step back
m   (12.02.09)
Weakness in the Middle East is sealing our fate, leading to our destruction.
5. That's Netanyahu
Yehudi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.02.09)
I didn't vote for him because I remembered how he gave away Hebron during his previous premiership. The man will sell us out in order to stay in power.
6. Why continue construction on what'll be Palestine?
caroline ,   TA   (12.02.09)
it should stop in the WB and in East Jerusalem. We've lived together for years in peace I'm sure we can again.
7. Jerusalem
Birdi ,   Israel   (12.02.09)
Before Obama was elected, he promised before hundreds of a Pro-Israeli audience, live & on camera , that Jerusalem will never be divided & thus stay Jewish. Now he pushes for a stop of Jewish housing projects in Jerusalem.
8. @caroline , TA
student ,   Beer Sheva   (12.02.09)
"We've lived together for years in peace I'm sure we can again. " WTF ???
9. 10 months freeze
Harold ,   Syracuse, USA   (12.02.09)
Netanyahu forget three digits. He should have said 10,000 months instead of 10 months. This is an order from the White House to stop all kinds of settlements construction once and for all.
10. Don't worry, caroline is high on peace fumes
moshe   (12.02.09)
Symptoms include total amnesia, inability to think, a psychotic disconnect from reality, confusing friends with enemies and actively pushing for civil war. It's very sad, but the drug addicts like her are now running the show. Civil war is coming. Even the angelic mitnakhalim can only take so much. When Jews begin to rocket Tel Aviv from Yosh and kippah-wearing suicide bombers start blowing up in Sheinkin, people like caroline will only have themselves to blame.
11. to 10 moshe
dr. ,   jerusalem   (12.03.09)
if you are a dr. you are not profisional . and i think you are not drug addictore i think you are wrong about caroline .. in palastinian sociaty there are non of them to tell that setelments are legal in west bank or in e, jerusalem .. do you think that all of them are drug addictors and sure they are not drs. as all of them and i think they have both d.a. and drs.
12. Build, Build, BUILD
alan ,   Texas   (12.03.09)
Make the arabs do something toward peace first!
13. The miscalculation may prove costly
Brod ,   USA   (12.05.09)
To avert miscalculation that will prove costly to Israel, Israel's government should view Obama with skepticism. With regards to Iran, never take Obama's word as Biblical truth. It may just be a Taqiyya in his part. The fact is he is far from being a Truman or Nixon in terms of helping Israel during times of crisis. He has surrounded himself with AntiSemites in his administration. His administration is dominated by Papist AntiSemites who couldn't careless about Israel. They have the same mentality as Brezinski. Ergo, Obama could not careless if the Ayatollahs obtain nukes despite his rhetoric. Nevertheless, Israel has strong support among the American people-especially the Judeo-Christians. It is this constituent that Israel can depend on for support in neutralizing Obama's AntiSemitism in confronting Iran nuke threat. Israel can and must confront the Iran nuke threat headon irrespective of whether Obama is in the boat or not. In the coming elections for Governors and Congress, the Democrats will lose. Once again the Republican will be in control. In 2012, Obama will lose and be gone politically. The American people have learned their lesson not to elect a rookie-an inexperienced leader who does not know how to govern. With the worsening economic downturn, rising unemployment, skyrocketing national deficits, Iran nuke threat and mushrooming Islamist-Jihadist terrorism at home and abroad, America needs a change of leadership in Washington.
