3. the problem is palestine is not the real
ghostq   (12.08.09)
name of the place, it's a temporary one and more problem is that jews were also called palestinians, the arab population just "borowd" the name since they never had any joined history.
4. The Pals don't want EJ
steve from raleigh   (12.08.09)
They just want to make sure the Jews suffer a bit. If Israel declared that Mogadishu would be the capital of Israel, Hamas would call it the 7th most holy site in all of Islam.
5. Split this city and you'll successfully make many ...
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.08.09)
... Jewish radicals like you haven't seen since the times of the Zealots. We're already backed into a corner, so don't come any closer.
6. Europe again
Duchess   (12.08.09)
Once again Europe is going to be the ones that start a huge war. Jerusalem is Jewish. Their proposal will bring war. It will endorse the lies and theft of the muslims and they will get encited.
7. International city plz.
Addle ,   Toronto   (12.08.09)
Jerusalem as a capital for Jews,Muslims and Christians. All given equal rights and share of power. No city designated for one religion. Make it designated for all 3 religions.
8. Note, Jerusalem has never, never been the capital city of...
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (12.08.09)
...any people or any state other than the Jewish people and the state of Israel, never! Indeed, when the territories of the West Bank, Gaza and eastern Jerusalem were Jew-free, "cleansed" of their Jewish residents between the years 1948 and 1967, the Arabs of the now disputed territories did not set up their state there and didn't set up eastern Jerusalem as their capital city. For outsiders - and even for insiders - to now come and tell us, Jews, how to handle our eternal capital city is both arrogant and pathetic. But of course, this would not even take place if it were not the Jewish people that is in the center of this Arab Israeli dispute. A tiny country such as Sweden, a mouse in world affairs, would not have the hutzhah to suggest to stick its nose in the internal affairs of another state. I just wonder, why...??
9. Jerusalem is Isrsel's undivided capital
Stephanie ,   Israel   (12.08.09)
For over 3500 years. No one is going to make us divide our ETERNAL capital city!
10. outrageous
alex ,   tel-aviv   (12.08.09)
They are pushing for war, don't they realize? And when the blood spills - what will they say? Oops, sorry? Will they be sent to the Hague court, or this place is reserved for Israelis and Serbs only? There's no end to this digusting hypocrisy of European do-gooders - they're worried that there's no peace between Pal-s and Israelis, don't they have any problems in their own countries? Why aren't worried that people die by thousands in Africa, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan? Is it for a simple reason that it's so easy and rewarding to press Israel? They won't have to wait for apllause too long, Iranians will sure send a nice bouquet!
11. "I don't really understand why Israel does not
Eyal ,   USA   (12.08.09)
accept that Palestine consists of the West Bank, Gaza and east Jerusalem," Well let me explain why Israel doesn't accept your stupid remarks, because if you read the Bible, which you don't, G-D gave this land and it's capital to Israel. No European idiot can say otherwise.
12. Future "Palestinian state", of course: on 78% of historic
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.08.09)
"Palestine", in Trans Jordan, presently called Jordan, with Amman as its capital city. After all, the League of Nations designated "Palestine" to be the territory now called Jordan, Israel, West Bank and Gaza. The British handed over Jordan to the Arabs, 78% of the territory, and Amman became the capital city of the territory. On what basis 22% of the territory should now be divided between Arabs and Jews? And on what basis should the capital city of the Jews should be divided? Just because the Arabs want it as part of their march to wipe Israel off the face of earth, one stage at a time?
13. Eurabia Doesn't Make Policy Here In OUR Land
Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (12.08.09)
Jerusalem is Israel's indivisible capital, and belongs to Israel exclusively. They can babble all they want in Eurabia. It won't change a thing. We should publicly warn Sweden off, and if they don't cease and desist, we should expel their Ambassador. It's not like we need them- especially meddling in our internal business in our capital.
14. Ironic Statement from EU
Nour ,   Palestine   (12.08.09)
I would agree with the essence of the statement, however a more plausible/feasible statement would say: "Jerusalem as the Capital of Palestine" End of story. Israel does not want a 2-state solution, hence its relentless illegal colonization on Arab lands. Very well, give them what they want. Don't divide the city, and lets jews live anywhere in historical Palestine. Same goes for Palestinians. The capital would be Jerusalem. The State would be the State of Palestine. End of story.
15. NO to EU Crusaders
Brod ,   USA   (12.08.09)
Israel should say NO, NO, NO to these Pagan EU Crusaders. By going after Jerusalem, they are going after the head of Israel to destroy Israel. Contrary to their peace talk, they are adopting the Taqiyya move to fool Israel. They have NO business telling and imposing their will on Israel. They have become a tool of the Islamist-Jihadist world because they are all AntiSemite Pagans. They share a common agenda of destroying Israel and wiping the Jews out from their GOD-GIVEN and GOD-RESTORED Land of Israel. Why are they so obsessed on Israel and couldn't careless with the sufferings of humanity from the daily atrocities and carnages of Islamist-Jihadists around the world? There is only one explanation, that is, the destruction of Israel!
16. Day by day..closer...massive war...nobody will care
Australian Guy ,   Australia   (12.08.09)
about whether Jerusalem is divided or not . Its coming.
17. #7 Addi - Under Israel it is the 1st time when all can pray
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (12.08.09)
Addi, You seem to be unaware that - under the Ottomans and Jordanians only Muslims and Christians could pray in Jerusalem - but not Jews - the Ottomans and Jordanians desecrated a Jewish cemetery (Mt. of Olives) to use the stone for building And most important the Arabs turned down the option of an "International City" when they attacked the UN created country of Israel.
18. EU- SAYS "JORDAN IS PALESTINE"
Rich ,   Fort Lauderdale, USA   (12.08.09)
Since the EU won't recognize border changes from 1967 -they are saying that Jordan is Palestine. Aren't they brilliant? Their position is the rejection of Palestine. Of course, if they want to recognize Palestine- they have to recognize border changes from 1967- except in Europe- where they can do what they want. Let's recognize Malmo as the Arab Capital of Sweden.
19. Nick, it's funny you say that.
Noor ,   Palestine   (12.08.09)
"Split this city and you'll successfully make many Jewish radicals like you havent seen since the times of the Zealots." How many Muslim radicals do you think were created due to the occupation and after your army massacred 100s upon hundreds of innocent civilians.
20. Duchess
Noor ,   Palestine   (12.08.09)
There are more holy Muslim and Christian sites than all of the historic Jewish sites in Jerusalem put together. Jerusalem is not solely Jewish. It is for Christians, Muslims, and Jews.
21. EU on Jerusalem
eli ,   chicago, usa   (12.08.09)
If the EU unilaterally recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state, I propose a boycott on EU travel and their products - cars, luxury goods, etc.
22. Last I checked, Israel was neither a member state of the EU
Felix ,   Berlin, Germany   (12.08.09)
nor is it even located on the European continent. Since this is so, and since the age of European imperialism has been over for a while, on what basis do the Europeans feel they have the right to dictate to people elsewhere how to conduct their internal affairs? Has Europe learned nothing from its oppression of many millions of people worldwide for so many centuries? Does it, based on the recurrence of this kind of imperialist behavior, have the right to even be consulted? I for one don't think so!
23. "IF" there is to be peace..........
tiki ,   belgium   (12.08.09)
IF my grandmother had....she would be my grandfather. IF, IF! The FM of Luxembourgh said it all, "he doesn't understand", that's the whole point, all those ignorant idiots don't (want) to understand, that you cannot REVIVE something that never was ('Pals in Palestine with J'lem as their capital). As for the Finnish FM with the "strong principals" of the EU.......he probably hasn't met Jewish 'principals', needed for survival in all those centuries of persecution, by all those anti semites.
24. The State would be the State of Palestine.

Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (12.08.09)
Hmm lets look at this claim. Firstly Jerusalem (any part of it) is *not* recognized, by any country, as the capital of state of Israel. Secondly during the 5,000 odd year history of the region Jerusalem was the ‘Israelite’ (not Jewish) capital for only approx 420 years. A mere speck of time in a greater aeon. It is also worth mentioning that after the split in kingdoms the majority of the Israelites did not consider Jerusalem their capital. Jerusalem remained the capital of the Kingdom of Judah not the Kingdom of Israel. But this is all ancient history and has absolutely no relevance on matters today. The term “our eternal capital city” is of course nothing more than a fallacy. As I pointed out it was only the capital city for a very, very short period of time, the term ‘eternal’ has no grounds in reality/legal law/etc only in a mentality beset with religious beliefs which as we all know has no place or validity in a court of international law. I will also point out Eitan’s fundamental flaw in his logic: “For outsiders [...] tell us, Jews, how to handle our eternal capital city is both arrogant and pathetic”. I will put this very simply: 1) Without international support, agreement and recognition the modern day state of Israel would ‘not’ exist. 2) Without international support, agreement and recognition Jerusalem will ‘not’ be Israel’s capital city. Only with ‘consensus agreement’ from the International Community will W Jerusalem become Israel’s capital city and *only* after Israel has made peace with the Palestinians and E Jerusalem is their capital city. As it stands the International Community seem more willing and proactive to acknowledge E Jerusalem as the capital city of the Palestinians. Likewise International Community content that the WB is the domain of the Palestinians and any Israel settlement of the area is illegal/non-valid. Obviously this will not sit well with people like Eitan but their minority opinions don’t hold a feather to the opinions of the International Community.
26. to #7 lol today jews chritian and muslim

that is very nice, sir....a really nice offer. however, when the jordanians had jerusalem pre 1967, no jews were ever allowed to visit or set foot to pray at the whailing wall. NO JEWS WERE ALLOWED IN!!!! jerusalem and the jewish holy sights under jordanian rule were filthy, decomposed, destroyed and vandalized systematiclly....and no arabs complained. stones from jewish graves were used to pave roads and build latrines and bathrooms and jewish cemetaries descecrated and tomb stones destroyed and used in construction constantly. since israel liberated the most holy of places for judaism in 1967, it beautified it, ir cleaned it, it opened it up for all religions around the world. al christians and arabs and muslims and jews make pilgrimages there every year bringing both the arab and jewish peope prosperity and business growth via tourism. who visited the wall during jordanian rule???? no one! because it was a pig sty...arab style and where camel and donkey shit was found in abundance when israel entered the area in 1967. it was miserable and desolate and no one ever went there....especially not jews who were never allowed in. today, you should see it. it is booming with tourists from arab countries, christians from all over the world, pilgrims and muslims visiting wherever they are free to go...everywhere. EXCEPT THE ISRAELI JEWS. THEY ARE NEVER ALLOWED TO GO TO THE TEMPLE MOUNT, TO PRAY THERE, TO VISIT THERE, TO BE HEARD SPEAKING OR PRAYING THERE. THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO MOVE THEIR LIPS IN PRAYER BECAUSE MUSLIM SAY IT OFFENDS THEM, WHILE THE MUSLIMS THROW ROCKS AT JEWS NEAR THE WALL DURING PRAYERS....SOME TOLERANCE, HA??? YES INDEED, let the muslim world do what israel already does. accept jews into the temple mount which is al aqsa and let them go and visit there. allow them to bring their prayer books and to pray near our holy of holies on which the al aqsa sits. if you insist about respect of all religions, i believe the arabs have a very long way to go in doing just that. they are the ones who do not allow people in. they are the intolerant ones that forbid jews from going to their holliest sites. they are the ones who destroyed torahs, burned the joseph tomb, painted the dome with a palestinian flag in green. they are the ones who desecrated the church of the selpucher during a terrorist riot where the muslims hid in that church, destroyed the bibles, stole food from pantrie, used the bible pages as toilette paper, etc... muslims are the ones who destroyed the budah temples via bombing them. now, you see why the jews are reluctant to give east jerusalem to the palestinians????? because you people have no respect for anyone else, much less jews. jews know it. they know that as long as israel owns east jerusalem, many people of various religions in the middle east and other parts of the planet will be able to freely enjoy coming, seeing, visiting and have the peaceful opportunity to enjoy their visit and praqctice whatever religion they believe in free of death cults, harassments by muslims, free of threats and violence and mostly free of the severe dirt, desolation, disrespect that muslim show for others' religion and religious sites. NOW, YOU UNDERSTAND????? hameed aboughaze, iranian
