GOLAN IS PART OF ISRAEL :-)
2. I am for the referendum!
Brad ,   USA   (12.09.09)
In this way, Jews will reveal what they really want - no more blaming others, no more whining that nobody likes them, nothing but plain results. And if demise comes because of that - well, you paid the price, don't whine later on.
3. don't do it
ghostq   (12.09.09)
referendum is very manipulative tool, it is very miss leading but in legal lingo it can be very tricky, it's not the results or the existent of the referendum or even the name it's how you put the quetions, I have said it before this so call quiz r use wildly in totalitarian countries and regims as propeganda tools, but and someone can always claim that they were mislead cause they didn't understood the qution. and they will.
4. Livni is amazing
Ron M ,   Tel Aviv / Zion   (12.09.09)
Wants to negotiate in secret (usually with no mandate like how she won Kadima primary) and then make biggest decisions ever affecting israelis for generations all without ever consulting public! She calls this leadership. Why? Because she knows the VOTERS / public would not support. Is she vying to be PM of Israel or EU / USA / PA?? Dear Kadima - Confirmed, will never cast my vote for her, ever. Time to go back to the leadership drawing board please.
5. YES. I SUPPORT REFERENDUM IN SYRIA FOR GOLAN.

Once again a little bit of history: the "Mandate for Palestine" confirmed by the League of Nations in 1922, encompassed within the borders of Palestine, the Golan Heights. The borders of the Mandate (including the "West Bank", the whole of Jerusalem and the "Gaza Strip) were internationally agreed upon, because they corresponded with those of the "Historical and Geographical Land of Eretz Israel, and were intentionally delineated as a basis for the RECONSTITUTION of the Jewish National Home. The Golan Heights were illegally given away to the French Mandate of Syria on March 1923. This territorial transfer was made surreptitously in a capricious and arbitrary fashion by the British (Mandatory of Palestine) by breaching Article 5 of the resolutions of the League in 1922, with the sole interest to secure Mosul"s oil fields to Irak. A Mandate is a Trust, according to Article 80 of the United Nations Charter. Israel's decision to impose its Laws on the Golan Heights on December 14, 1981, RIGHTED the WRONG that was committed by the British in March 1923. Syria cannot make a standing claim in an International Court of Law. The Golan Heights as they are known today were NEVER part of Syrian Real Estate. (Excerps from "A Special Report Prepared for the U.S. Center for Security Policy). As you see this is not an Israeli report but an American one. So if you are foolish enough even to think for a moment to Give and not to Render the Golan Heights as a present to the Syrian with the hope they are going to fall in love with you, than you have a very big problem.
8. 1. Referendum may ONLY include Jews. 2. Why a referendum?
Shalom   (12.09.09)
Those self-hating Jewish citizens who do not believe that all of Israel belongs to the Jews should please get out of Israel.
9. KNESSET ! YOU DOING WRONG. YOU CANT OKAY THAT.

11. TALK ABOUT PLANTING MINES IN THE HALLWAYS OF THE WORLD...

12. livni votes against referendum bill
marcel   (12.09.09)
To protect israel from wreckless olmert and livni whose concessions I disagree with vehemently, the public should have the referendum right to block such wild moves. Livni was wrong about philadelphi withdrawal, she was useless in the UN resolution of the hezbollah war, she was dead wrong to offer queria 92% of west bank, she was only right not to accept one arab refugee whereas the crook olmert offered some 30000 return. Livni is out of her element, has no depth at all, thinks a legal contract engenders trust and is mentally challenged. That she did not quit olmert is an indictment and that she relies on ramon for advice shows that she is a rank idiot.
13. the Golan is part of Israel
esther ehrenberg ,   Isreal   (12.09.09)
yes you are so right the golan will always be part of Israel. We have to get ride of this crazy goverment theydont know what they are doing rmoorans.
14. WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF THIS FOLISHNESS ???.
Arn-Orao. ,   Sweden-Orao.   (12.09.09)
THE ISRAELI GOVERNMENT, WHERE THE MEMBERS ARE JEWS, ACT DIREKTLY AGAINST THE WILL OF JEHOVAH, ACCORDING TO HIS WORD, AND THE GOVERMENTAL PERSONS KNOWS THAT, THUS - and parted My land. FROM - Joel 3 1"For behold, in those days and in that time, when I shall bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem, 2I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the Valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for My people and for My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted My land. AND - Isaiah 54 1"Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear! Break forth into singing and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child! For more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife," saith the LORD. 2Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations; spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes. 3For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left, and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited. 4"Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed; neither be thou confounded, for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more. 5For thy Maker is thine husband" the LORD of hosts is His name" and thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; the God of the whole earth shall He be called. - WHAT COULD THE CAUSE FOR THIS FOOLISHNESS BEE ???. A SECRET PROMISE OF OBAMA, TO THE ISRAELI PM AND DM THAT, THE US WILL PARTAKE WITH ISRAEL IN A MILITARY STRIKE AGAINST IRAN, BUT WITH US MILITARY LEAD AND LEADERSHIP ???. IF THIS IS THE CAUSE, HOW FOOLISH OF THE ISRAELI LEADERSHIP ???. THAT WILL GIVE ISRAELS ENEMIES THE OPPORTUNITY, TO STRIKE FIRST MILITARILY !!!. AND THIS GIVING IN TO OBAMAS IDEAS, HAS NOW OPENED PANDORS BOX, FOR THE SPIRIT WHO WANT TO DIVIDE JERUSALEM, THE CITY OF JEHOVAH, AND, ISRAEL THE LAND OF JEHOVAH. IF THE ISRAELI GOVERNMENT BELIEVE THAT THE COMMING WAR WILL HINDER THEIR CONCESSIONS AND GIVING IN IN THIS MATTER, THEY ARE ACCORDING TO THE WORD OF JEHOVAH, DECEIVING THEMSELVES, THEY HAVE LOST THE BATTLE FOR JERUSALEM AND ISRAEL, IN REGARD TO THE WILL OF JEHOVAH !!!. Arn-Orao.
15. Livni doesn't believe in democracy, that's for sure.
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (12.09.09)
Well, the messiah is not here yet, so I say for a full peace settlement, we should keep the Golan, and under certain conditions, give up east Jerusalem.
16. BARAK & LIVNI PRFER THE SYRIAN FORM OF GOVERNMENT
zionist forever   (12.09.09)
DICTAITORSHIP Livni should remeber that this bill was originally proposed by Kadima when she was foreign minister its not Bibis baby. Also the Israeli people have never in history elected even 1 MK. They vote for parties and the parties appoint the individuals who take the Knesset seats and I imagine that most of the current MKS would have their jobs ( Bibi, Livni & Barak included ) if the public had been allowed to elect them As for Barak who is he to decide whats an UNNECESSARY CONSTRAINT on the PM I would call it a constraint that the public want placed onto the PM. When a terrorist is put in jail he would say thats an unnecessary constraint put on him but how many of the people he is there to kill would agree with him on that point. If the Israeli public was asked directly do you want a referendum bill I imagine that most of them even the leftists would say yes its for us to decide our future. If the Swiss government can give their people a referendum on such trivial issues as minarets the Israeli government OWE the public a referendum over the future of the Golan and the capital. There is also more to it than those two sites because they were legally annexed their status is the same as Tel Aviv and every other town and city. What would happen if the palestinians decided they wanted Yaffo or Tsfat where Abbas claims he was born. Without a referendum the government would be allowed to give away any of those places and more if the arabs demanded it and it would all be legal. Somebody needs to remind them all them all that being a public servant means they are there to serve the will of the public and the public are not there to serve their will.
17. Livni and Barak simply don't get it...
The Dude   (12.09.09)
It's very disturbing that Barak and Livni in particular do not understand, that they are public/civil servants. Their job is to serve the people, this is not the case when the Knesset is elected that you become an Aristocrat in the PM's court. The reason why we do not hold referendum's for everything is because it would be inefficient. However, there are cases where due to past incidents, we the people cannot trust our government to make the right choice. The most recent examples are Sharon's adoption of a policy he stated he was originally against, Barak's attempt to give everything against the will of the people at Camp David, Olmert's inherent corruption, and just the general cowering of Netanyahu. The fact is that this law is needed to put a check on these Politicians. I've had enough of decisions being made that are not even debated in public, they are simply elected and run wild like a monkey in a banana factory. Until we have direct elections for each seat of the Knesset, we need this more than ever. Because the fact is that no peace treaty or land return has ever brought a true sense of security. The fact that we still consider the threat from the South, both Egypt and Gaza is clear reason why we should not allow the threat from the North creep any closer to the heart of Israel.
18. So now what?
David ,   USA   (12.09.09)
So what happens when we reach a peace agreement with the Syrians or Palestinians that calls for our withdrawal from the Golan or E. Jerusalem...then the Israeli public can veto this agreement by voting not to withdraw from these territories? That leave Israel in a never-ending conflict with its neighbors and illegitimacy in the international community for continuing to occupy lands that don't belong to Israel. Is that what we want?
