1. That is fair enough, but...
Curious ,   World   (12.11.09)
where do they actually what to be? Israel or Libanon?
2. Easy. Return the whole village to Lebanon.
JO   (12.11.09)
it is their true home country and it will see the village whole, besides creating greater security for Israel. The situation as it is now is expensive in manpower and dangerous. Once the village is one under one sovereign state it is far easier. Those who wish to stay in Israel should be allowed to but the the village does not belong in Israel. I would imagine their allegiance is to their home country and not Israel.
3. UN AT FIRST - THEN HEZBOLLAH
stude ham   (12.11.09)
there is no longer any lebanon.
4. Difference Between Israel and Lebanon
Raz ,   Rishlach   (12.11.09)
Under Israel: -rent subsidy -higher education subsidy and private tutors from Gush Dan -free medical care courtesy of Israel's universal healthcare system -modern water, electricity, and upkeep, courtesy of the municipality, even without Ghajaris paying any taxes. -With citizenship, can vote freely and run for office -freedom of speech Under UN: -NO free medical healthcare -NO subsidy for study -NO upkeep and of power and water, or very poor upkeep. -no real democratic power in a corrupt, stagnant system teetering on civil war -no freedom of speech -eventual transfer to or infiltration by Hizballah to be used as a forward base of operations against Israelis, making the area fanatical and an eventual war zone. Enjoy your new government, idiots. I for one am happy that my taxes no longer will go towards your subsidies and healthcare. We have others here in Israel who need it more.
5. Don't forget to return Shebaa Farms as well...
BBSNews ,   Charlotte, NC   (12.11.09)
Israel needs to return the land that it does not hold sovereign title to. It's not a hard concept to grasp for rational minds.
6. Note, the Arabs of Ghajar prefer to be Israeli citizens than
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (12.11.09)
citizens of an Arab state. This is also true about the overwhelming majority of Arabs in Jerusalem. It is the case of the many Beduines of the Sinai who have "joined" their families in Israel and prefer to remain as residents of the Jewish state. And this is the case of the Arab villages of the Triangle and the Ara Valley in Israel who refuse to be part in the future Palestinian Arab state while insisting they are Israeli citizens and demand to remain as such, although becoming part of the PA would not cause them to move anywhere, only to have the border move west and north of their present location. This is perhaps the best message to all those who claim Israel is a "racist" and "apartheid" state whose citizens are not equal before the law as all other citizens. Shabat Shalom and Hag Hanukkah Sameah.

To whom does Israel return the Shebaa Farms -- Syria or Lebanon?
8. david
wissam ,   Lebanon   (12.11.09)
hand it over to the UN , we will deal with this issue later. the land is not yours.
9. Dove - fly back under your pillows & shutup
Leo ,   Houston, USA   (12.11.09)
If Israel listened to the dove leftists of her country, it would be dead.
10. This is typical stupid UN stuff..solution is..
David ,   Boston, USA   (12.11.09)
Make the whole village part of Lebanon and compensate Israel with an equivalent amount of Land, or make it all part of Israel. This is typical stupid UN and European thinking, not caring about the individuals and only caring about a map. Thats how Europe messed up most of the world. Stop doing it!
11. #2 - Part of Ghajar IS Israeli
William ,   Israel   (12.11.09)
Are you advocating giving away parts of Israel for "peace"? When has that worked? When polled, most indicated they'd prefer to stay within Israel, knowing if they were given to Lebanon, they'd lose both social benefits and Hizbullah would over-run their town and turn it into a war zone. Makes sense.
12. #5 - Except that, Syria doesn't want it back
William ,   Israel   (12.11.09)
In a legal case, if something is "stolen" it can only be returned to the person it was taken from. In this case, that was Syria and can be worked out in final peace agreements. There is no legal demand that Israel hand Shaaba Farms to a 3rd party, even if it rightfully belongs to them. That's for Syria and Lebanon to work out, and until they do, Israel can only give it to Syria....by law! Syria has yet to sign an official document claiming Shaaba Farms is Lebanese. If they did, that would be a different matter. BBS, you claim to want Israel to adhere to Intl law but get pissed off when they do and it doesn't work out in your racist favor. Why is that?
13. #8 - Wissam - It's not your's either
William ,   Israel   (12.11.09)
And UN was not enacted as a escrow account for property in disagreements between different parties. Israel has a legal right to hold the property until final agreements are made with the group it was taken from - Syria. If you want it back, ask Assad for a land deed. Until then - come and get it, if you dare.
14. Hold a referendum in Ghajar
William ,   Israel   (12.11.09)
Ask them what they think. We all know what the answer will be, especially Beirut and Damascus.
15. These Arabs know that the "humanity" of Hizbola terrorists
Jae ,   Lynn US   (12.12.09)
will result in the beatings, kidnappings, forced evacuation and murder of many Garjarians. This is the divide between moderate Arabs who want to live in the Jewish state as loyal citizens. , and those that want a racist destruction of the Jewish state.
16. William, it's your flaming straw man...
BBSNews ,   Charlotte, NC   (12.12.09)
...nah, nevermind, You know you are lying and I am tired of answering wingnuts... Five minutes of research shows Bashir Assad saying that Shebaa Farms is Lebanese on several occasions. And the one thing we all know if whether it is Lebanon's or Syria's, it's certainly not Israel's land. Although Hebrew U's own Ashur Kaufman unearthed the real maps back in Paris a few years back. This you also already know. I'm betting you even understand that Israel's real interest is water. But an anti_srae useful idiot such as yourself just cannot help yourself.
17. # 16
Birdi ,   Israel   (12.12.09)
BBS you dont hold a candle to William, not in a million years. The one who is anti-israel & an anti-semite is you. Dont even deny it. It just kills you that the Jews are the chosen people. TOUGH.
18. Interestingly enough
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.12.09)
.... the residents of Ghajar wish to remain fully under Israeli control. Not the first time we've seen this -- remember Rafah, and all the Arabs that fled into the Jewish sector? Duh. Looks like the terrorist-supporting cretins that habituate this news forum and propagate lies just took it on the chin -- yet again! Love it! Truth will out, after all.
19. Rajar and number 1#
Lorrainna ,   Jerusalem   (12.12.09)
The people do not want to be with Lebanon. They want Israel!
20. Shebaa farms was Syria
Lorrainna ,   Jerusalem   (12.12.09)
Shebaa Farms belonged to Israel because they won them from the Syrians . In the year 2000 Assad Senior decided to give Shebaa Farms and Rajar to Lebanon. They were 42 years late. He did not have the right to give them to Lebanon and he died the same day we heard. After that I was in the village when we heard that the UN was going to try and divide the village. The UN worked fast after the Israelis left Lebanon . Rajar and the Shebaa farms has never been Lebanon and never will we hope. Israel can not giving them back since it was always Syria before.
21. referendum
Lorrainna ,   Israel   (12.12.09)
The people of Rajar is protesting Israel leaving#14. They all want Israel to stay there. They decided in year 2000 they do not like the UN and they do not want them in their village and they do not want to be part of Lebanon.
