2. This guy is so insecure that he feels threatened by monkeys?
Israeli ,   Israel   (12.12.09)
I hope most Puerto Ricans do not seriously believe that Jewish owned monkeys will occupy their land and throw them to the sea.
4. Dennis #1 It's Puerto Rico
Avigdor ,   Colorado Springs, US   (12.12.09)
Whoever this Brito guy is, he does not reflect the majority opinion in Puerto Rico which has one of the oldest Jewish communities in the Americas. While you are correct that many have fled the island whose economy has been dismantled since the early 1900's, painting it with a broad brush as "G-d-forsaken" and "sh$thole" is not helpful. After all, while living in Delaware I use to hear the same things being said about New Jersey.....,but I tried to keep an open mind. Slow down on the draw brother.
5. the adl will do well
'Hazon Yesha3ya   (12.12.09)
to address also the issue of settlers arson in a mosque in our only sovereign jewish state in the world
6. Spanish historical antisemitism
Elly ,   VIenna, Austria   (12.12.09)
The Spanish brainwashed their people and colonies in becoming antisemitic. First Honduras and now Puerto Rico.
7. Why not sue Brito for libel?
bernard ross ,   st anns bay, jamaica   (12.12.09)
8. Puerto Rico needs a monkey-breeding facility?
Ariel ,   Europe   (12.12.09)
That's rich! LOL!
9. Mr. Greenstein of New Jersey
Puerto Rican Born ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.12.09)
Your use of foul language and your incidiary derogatory demagogic comments do not encourage any actual communication towards solution and understanding regarding this matter. You are doing yourself and your Jewish co-religionists in the United States great damage by speaking this way. In exactly the same manner that Mr. Brito is doing a great damage to his fellow islanders. Perhaps you may wish to try again and clearly state your position without having to rely on insouciant and impertinent language then perhaps the value of your position may ring true.

Keren ,   IL-BR   (12.13.09)
I wouldn't even need to read the article to agree with you,but I read! This is for sure another "job" of Ishmael-the bloody hyenna!
12. a lot of antisemitism amoung hispanics
david ,   new york   (12.13.09)
the majority of hispanics i know are good people, but there is a large minority of antisemites. surveys have shown about 30% of foreign born hispanics to be seriously antisemitic (as opposed to 10% of americans). when i was in yeshiva university, I witnessed a good deal of antisemitism in the dominican neighborhood of washington heights, the majority however were "menschlich"
13. Don't Understand Objection
Christy ,   Boston, MA   (12.13.09)
What's wrong with having something like a monkey breeding facility that will bring jobs wherever it's built? I must be missing something because I don't understand cause for the outrage over this facility.
14. some questions....
(12.13.09)
An internet search using Robert Brito, Primera Hora and Daily Sun turns up absolutely nothing on this matter. It is only when ADL is added to the mix as a search parameter that something turns up on the screen and most of what comes up on the screen is from Jewish American sources! A search of El Nuevo Dia which is the largest newspaper on the island of Puerto Rico also comes up empty. Is it possible that this is the ADL once again latching onto a very small issue in order to promote itself? Is it possible that Robert Brito is a one man band that has come out to protest and the ADL is using his position in order to misunderstand the position of an entire island? Is it possible that this is a storm in a teacup and that YNET is a partner in ADL's mad cap grap for headlines?
15. There's something missing here
NYC Girl   (12.13.09)
As has been pointed out, there isn't even any information on this Robert Brito. In the article, he's described as an "activist" but that can mean almost anything. Not only that, but the ADL certainly has more than enough anti-Semitism and racism to deal with (because the ADL doesn't only deal with Jewish issues) to keep them busy. And although a boycott of the Jewish community of Puerto Rico would certainly be problematic, there's too little information here to really figure out what's going on. Also, in regard to anti-Semitism among Hispanic immigrants, that's primarily a result of a hyper-Catholicism which still teaches that the Jews killed Christ. And while it's certainly unwelcome, hopefully, many of them grow out of it once they've lived in this country for a while.
16. 11 - do comparisons of jews with animals not bother you?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (12.13.09)
humanity survived a few of those last century, you know, and we'll survive the likes of your ilk, too.
17. Not only Ishmael
Keren ,   IL-BR   (12.13.09)
Not only those Al Quaida types of arabs are possibly involved in this absurd, but also that hispanic pulled by them by a collar-Hugo Chaves, the filthy! This filthy being has been trying to revive old bloody libels that were succesfull against Jews in the past. He frequently uses the images of jc,among other “techniques”, as his propaganda, comparing jc with his own “ideals”of “bolivarian revolution”,whatever the hell this can mean.At the same time he is very very close to Ahma.......,the seemingly reicarnation of Haman. In other words, the complete squad of ancestral enemies of Jews are back, coordinating the whole big filth to the masses. Hand in hand. Is that very difficult to notice?
18. Keren let's just set the record straight....
(12.13.09)
Mr. Chavez is the president of Venezuela an independent South American country. Puerto Rico the island nation mentioned in the article is a Free Associated Commonwealth State of the United States. All of its residents are Puerto Ricans and also citizens of the United States as such their president is the President of the United States Mr. Obama. The small Jewish minority resident (less than 1% of the 3.5 million residents of Puerto Rico) are predominantly (but not exclusively) conservative Jews belonging to the Shaare Tzedek Congregation in San Juan. The resident Puerto Rican Jews enjoy the same liberties and responsibilities as the rest of the residents of the Island and have lived peacefully on the island without incident for over 500 years. In other words please do remember that neither the Caribbean Sea Nations, the Central American Nations nor the South American Nations are one political unit, they are individual nations each with its own general history as well as its own particular Jewish history. So please in future do make an effort to understand the history and political structure of other nations before you choose to criticize them and please do seriously consider using politer language! Wishing you a lovely day and Happy Hanukah
19. #18 Wrong.
Keren ,   IL-BR   (12.13.09)
There is no such a thing as "ndividual nations each with its own general history as well as its own particular Jewish history.". The world is interconnect nowadays as it has always been, with the difference that comunications are instantaneous nowadays, and an erroneous, malevolent, malicious message that would take years to reach other nations, now takes seconds. Anyway, what does exactly your message is meant for? It seems a little stupefied ,with a pompous intend one ,for me
20. #19 better pompously intelligent! than stunningly stupid!
