1. :: More marching orders from Obama?
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (12.12.09)
Still he who pays the fiddler calls the tunes.
2. Only from Ghajar? LOL
Alan ,   SA   (12.12.09)
3. US urges withdrawl.
DT ,   TA Isreal   (12.12.09)
Like they did in Gaza, in Lebanon, Sheba Farm, West bank, anytime now it will be withdraw from Israel or at best ,indefensible borders. Time Israel "saw the light" and said "Never no matter what"
4. Ghajar
Birdi ,   Israel   (12.12.09)
Yeah sure Hezbollah will give up their arms if Israel withdraws from Ghajar. Like pigs will fly. Is the Obama administration naive, or what ??
5. Now be honest, DT
Cameron ,   USA   (12.12.09)
I do remember quite the Israeli sigh of relief when they did pull out of those armpits, and have noted no real desire by Israelis to jump back in. Yours to weigh the benefits & burdens of staying put.
6. Hezbollah didn't mention Sheba Farms until 2000 withdrawal
jason ,   haifa israel   (12.12.09)
When Israel left lebanon in 2000 Hezbollah, Syria, and Iran needed a new excuse to dupe the lebanese people so they came up with sheba farms. They never talked about this before Israel was planning to withdraw. Nasrallah has said in the past even if israel left sheba farms there were more hills and more hills that are lebanese. Hezbollah considers all of israel occupied and doesn't recogonize any part of israel. So that this would somehow take away their pretext is a joke. Hezbollah is the power in lebanon. Take away the pretext from who. The sunnis in lebanon are weak. Hariri bows down to Hezbollah no one would ever take them on. The leftist democratic party and Hillary clinton are out of it.
7. Another Disasterous Decision
Marcel ,   Florida   (12.12.09)
Instead of removing the problem Hizbollah once again Israel is made to retreat and capitulate. This is only another failed a recipe for more bloodshed. This action only encourages Israel's enemies and weakens Israel, the capitulation nation. How did Israel become such a slave to such nefarious US demands ?
8. Ghajar and Hezbollah- a miscalculation
Brod ,   USA   (12.12.09)
Connecting Ghajar to Hezbollah arming is fallacious. Hezbollah will continue to arm and pose a threat to Israel even if Ghajar does not exist. Hezbollah is Iran's armed forces that have already 'invaded' Lebanon by becoming Lebanon's main armed forces. Iran has also dominated Syria and wants Syria to get the Golan Heights by way of Taqiyya and manipulations of external entities. In the Southwest, Iran has already dominated Gaza by way of their armed forces-Hamas. And they are already machinating to take over Fatahan to usurp Israel's liberated historic homeland of Judea and Samaria by way of Taqiyya and manipulations of external entities. Their ultimate goal is very obvious as declared in their -Hamas Charter-the destruction of Israel! Already they have set up their tentacle in Iraq through the present Shiite government, and cleverly engineered by using America's might to help them. Once American forces have been withdrawn from Iraq, Iraq will be a full fledged tentacle of Iran. The rest of the Islamist-Jihadist states in the region will fall like a domino under Iran once the Ayatollahs get their nukes. If Israel thinks that by giving away more of its liberated historic homeland to the wolves will give it peace and stop the Islamist-Jihadist aggressions against it in the region, it is making a terrible miscalculation which will be detrimental to Israel's national security interests and existence.
9. with respect
alexi   (12.12.09)
do not listen to US on withdrawal. Their appetite is 67 borders and they do not understand Israel's dilemma. Obama is promoslem and has no connection to israel other than usual platitudes. Remember during campaign he said israel should defend itself against rockets. Remember. Arabs have to make concessions first otherwise there is nothing to talk about. First is to raise the jordanian mandate of palestine, the right of compensation for 700,000 jews whose property was stolen.
10. DOES THIS MEAN THAT WE WILL SEE TRUE PALESTINE STATE IN ...
..THE YEAR OF 2010 ? ,   ATİLLA KARAGÖZOĞLU   (12.12.09)
11. Ghajar for starters....
Marco ,   Spain   (12.12.09)
followed by the hills of Kfar-Shooba, the Shebaa farms, Golan heights, East Jerusalem and West Bank 100% free of settlements, and last but not least the right of return to all Palestinian refugees. Then and only then can Hezbollah consider merging into the Lebanese army.
12. It"s about time...
Roland Seener ,   London England   (12.12.09)
The Israeli and American Public were not left on the side-lines and knew exactly what was what.Obama and Netanyu must come clean and tell what is given in exchange for pressure. Are the Americans offering " Coloured beads"?And is Israel accepting ?
13. Translation: Israel, Roll Over and Play Dead
emanon ,   USA   (12.12.09)
You all know the story with the punchline "Jew, fight fair". Same thing here. Israel is supposed to pretend it does not have any right to defend itself and accede to every terrorstinian demand. I don't think so!
14. US judgment incredibly naiive and incompetent
bernard ross ,   st anns bay, jamaica   (12.12.09)
US judgment is stocked with failure. This is one more pathetic conclusion. the villagers don't want the division and hezbullah can always manufacture new pretexts as it has been doing, duh? does the US ever evaluate in retrospect their incredibly stupid conclusions through the years?
15. Where has the US official been all these years?
William ,   Israel   (12.12.09)
Leaving Ghajar will remove "Hizbullah's pretext for arms"? Is this another feable attempt by the Obama Administration at Foreign policy?? I will cite only one example that should make the US re-think it's position: Several years ago , Hizbullah demanded Shabba Farms back and needed the weapons to do so. Nasrallah also said that if land was liberated there wouldn't be a need for Hizbullah to have arms. Yossi Beilin immediately called upon the government to give back Shabba Farms for peace with Lebanon, and pushing Hizbullah to disarm. Only 2 days later, Nasrallah demanded a huge chunk of Northern Israel claiming 7 Shia villages were there and it belonged to Lebanon. Ergo, with terrorists, when the price is paid, the price goes up.
16. #1 - "he who pays fiddler, calls the tunes"
William ,   Israel   (12.12.09)
So why hasn't the US made demands from Hamas, Fatah, Egypt and Lebanon whom they bankroll to a pretty nice degree?
17. #10 - In Ghajar, I hope
William ,   Israel   (12.12.09)
Or the rest of Lebanon. The "palestinians" seem to like it there.
18. Obama believes the only solution is to appease terror
zionist forever   (12.12.09)
Under Bush for all his mistakes like Iraq he understood that you have to fight terror. Obama believes that you must appease terror. He has had very little to say about Hamas attacks instead he concentrates on sucking up to Abbas and telling Bibi he must make concessions in exchange for nothing. About 2 weeks ago the Lebanese government made an announced that they would let Hizbollh keep their weapons because their job was to defend Lebanon. Obamas solution don't get the Lebanese government to do something about Hizbollah its give them US weapons and demand Israel make territorial concessions and hope that Hizbollah will feel they no longer need to attack Israel. If Hamas or Hizbollah announced that they would not attack Israel formerly gave up its status as a jewish state ended alliyah. Obama wouldn't be saying you fight these terrorists if you have to but you don't give up your national identity he would be trying to bully Bibi into accepting the terrorist demands. If Bin Laden said he would stop crashing planes into buildings if the US officially became a muslim state ruled by sharia law Obama would be advising Congress to accept the proposal. When it comes to appeasing terror he makes Jimmy Carter look like George Bush.
19. And will the US be withdrawing from Iraq?
Lee ,   Florida, US   (12.13.09)
Israel has more at stake in withdrawing from Ghajar than the US does in withdrawing from Iraq, Afghanistan, and all the other places it occupies in the world. Turn the security over to the UN? You have got to be kidding! The US needs to mind its own business and worry about its own problems, which are many.
