1. Are the old bills still valid after the new ones are issued?
Rivkah   (12.18.09)
Or do the old bills have to be traded for new ones by a certain date?
2. awful idea. sharet & agnon super important
danny ,   israel   (12.19.09)
sharett is on the background of the so very important pekiin which he helped restore. agnon is unique and im proud not to have a politician on a note. he`s on the background of the temple mount. begin and rabin are not that great of men.
3. changes
colin   (12.19.09)
Changes are good Why politicians?? Rabin was one of the worst PM in Israel Who is the idiot that wants to see his face
4. Why politicians?
Etoile ,   Montreal, Canada   (12.20.09)
Maybe put on the bills pictures of indigineous animals of the land, natural landmarks, Jewish landmarks such as the Western Wall, torah tzaddikim over the ages, and people who have made tremendous contributions to the advancement of humankind such as Nobel Laureates? Perhaps even non-Israeli Jews over the ages who have made such milestones in their respective fields? As hard is it to believe, politicians are not usually as important as they think themselves to be.
5. Waste of Money !!!
Pauline ,   Israel   (12.20.09)
There are more important things to spend our hard earned tax dollars on ....
6. lets have landscapes like they did in the 50s
zionist forever   (12.20.09)
Th nicest series of bills that Israel has ever had was the first series of the Lira in the mid 50s there were no people on them just landscapes. 1 Lira - a synagogue in the Galilee 5 Lira - a Negev settlement 10 Lira - the Jezreel Valley 50 Lira - the road to Jerusalem Landscapes of parts of Israel are much nicer than politicians some of them shameful ones like Rabin who brought the oslo disaster I also urge people not to use a 200 shekel bill whenever possible because that will feature Rabin who has done nothing useful. If they don't want landscapes why not biblical symbols or something like that which signifies that Israel is a jewish state. It would be nice to have an image of the Temple in the corner of every note .. it symbolizes no more golden mosques spoiling the Jerusalem skyline.

As with every note for a certain amount of time the old notes will still be legal. Businesses probably will stop accepting the old notes not long after the changeover but the banks will be legally obligated to trade your old notes for new ones forabout 2 years which is what they have done with previous changeover.
