1. If it's good for Yassin, its good for the Hamas serial kille

2. AND ONCE AGAIN....
Talula ,   Israel   (12.22.09)
We wouldn't have to worry about this crap if we had the Death Penalty re-instated!!!! WHAT'S NOT TO UNDERSTAND HERE ?!?!?!
3. Yes but expelled for how long and guaranteed by whom?
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (12.22.09)
Last time Israel demanded people be locked up or expelled it was fine until the host countries allowed them to return. So there needs to be some condition on how long and who will guarantee it otherwise they will go off to an Arab country for a few weeks of vacation and return home via Jordan when ever they want.
4. Shalit deal

Obviously the deal must be closed before air strikes can begin against Iran.

by Hamas. Let us see how they react....
7. To Talula #2: You are right but it cannot be "re-instated"
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (12.22.09)
You cannot reinstate something that never was. The Death Penalty was under the British Mandate and was never included in the Basic Law or adopted by the Knesset. I agree that we should have it for terrorism, child murder, mass murder, murder due to a hate crime and rape with aggravating circumstances. However, do you think that an Israeli Government would enact a law which would have to be applied to Jewish terrorists? A law which says only execute non-Jews, well, that won't even be proposed never mind fly!
8. The threat to our country from fat terrorists
DR ,   Hebron   (12.22.09)
In the article it would seem that heavy terrorists are some how more dangerous than light terrorists. Is this because over-eating can cause a terrorist to be more active? Maybe we should starve terrorists in order to make them more acceptable. Also Ron writes aht "A ray of light. Iranian nuclear threat still looms, but danger to Israel at this time not existential", which, despite he jargon into which this term has fallen, is somewhat ineresting. The fact that our threat is not existential (truely a very recondite word. A central proposition of existentialism is that existence precedes essence, so why doesn't he just come right out and say, "The danger is not anything to take lightly because it has already gone beyond the conceptual stage and entered into the "final solution for Israel" stage? History should teach us that the only way to fight our enemies is to take them seriously, and that they mean what they say when it comes to killing Jews. In his folksong entitled "National Brotherhood Week," Tom Lehrer sings: Oh the Protestants hate the Catholics, and the Catholics hate the Protestants, and the Hindus hate the Moslems and everybody hates the Jews. After seeing what is going on in Israel by no less than our government and our intellectual leadership he might well have added this last verse. "And the Jews, most of all, hate themselves"

Adolf Eichmann was hanged in Israel in 1962 - he was a cruel, cold-blooded Jew murdering scumbag. Our elder and much respected statesmen knew how to handle scumbags - they had the balls to do the right thing. The Losers in our government today are clueless - and it's a shame, because the death penalty would bring kidnapping and prisoner swaps to a grinding halt - can't give back what you don't have. And, futhermore, we wouldn't keep the bodies once executed - we send them back to the family. Naturally you don't pass down a death penalty to a shoplifter or car thief - it must be reserved for terrorists - Jewish, Arab and otherwise. Also for anyone who harms a child in any way shape or form.
10. It's not worth the risk
Bemet ,   Israel   (12.22.09)
better to loose 1 soul than thousands to terror. Sad but true.
11. Disgusting
Irate in Israel   (12.22.09)
How many thousands of civilians died as a result of the last prisoner lunacy? Why do Israelis never learn? And how can the government have the unmitigated gall to ask any soldier to give up his life arresting these people- only to see the murderers let go shortly thereafter in the next capitulation? The whole point of soldiers (such as Shalit) is that they are supposed to give their lives to protect the civilian population; just as my generation was willing to die so that Shalit could grow up, he should be willing to die so that my children can grow up. To say that my children- thousands of children- should now be placed on exploding buses again in order to rescue him is warped and perverse- it is madness. I have never been so ashamed, morally, to be Israeli as I was the day of the dead bodies exchange for Samir Kuntar. What a wretched country, when justice is no longer served in any way, and children are sacrificed for soldiers.

We also don't need this headache if Sucide bombing operations resume again !!!
13. #7 Tallula - That was a very specific law
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (12.22.09)
Adolf Eichmann was executed under a very specific law for perpetrators of the genocide during Holocaust. So although you are right that Israel has executed people in the past, we would need to change the law to include acts of terror not just genocide (as the current law reads). I support this, even though it has been proven in the US to be cheaper to keep someone for life without parole than to execute them. Why do I support this then? Not because of the deterrence but because it prevents repeat offenses.

We do need a death penalty for ALL murder. in other countries there is a distinction between manslaughter, first degree and second degree, etc. A terrorist is a terrorist unless he can prove self defense, not premeditated etc. As for rapists I am all for chemical castration

Talula ,   Israel   (12.22.09)
Eric, it doesn't matter WHAT law he was executed under - he was executed and it set a precedent that should be extended to include terrorists and child killers. I'd rather pay more tax and execute the bastards than keep them alive. We are paying for their food, heating, education AND they are allowed visits from their families. Come on man, that has to be wrong.

You know what? ALL MURDERERS that set out to kill innocence should be hanged and manslaughter should mean LIFE without parol - no good behaviour - they die in prison. I'm quite sure I sound like a crazy woman - I'm not. I'm sick to death of our judicial system pussy footing around cold blooded murderers.
17. Excuse me David Karmiel -Israel..On the death penalty.
James ,   ISRAEL   (12.25.09)
I spent far too long on another article and missed this one.Better late than never. What do you mean the death penalty cannot be reinstated,?You wrongly assume the DEATH was under the British Mandate? Rubbish, 1] the brits had a death penalty in their country. Why would they object. 2] If you are correct than how did we TRIED and hung Eichman? 3] We did have "death penalty" did we not? 4[Nothing to do with British Mandate . 5]Or is your memory failing david? Lastly Yes,we should re-estblish now for the terrorists because jails are a cushy life for them, almost like home from home.Carrying out "cangaroo courts" against any of their dissidents among them. They even kill some under the noses of our jailers which surprises me.
