1. Ah, autonomy!
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.22.09)
These are not Israeli citizens. They wanted autonomy, and got it. They wanted Hamas, and got it. There just is no pleasing some people. For the record -- the Palestinian Arabs living in Gaza are citizens of Egypt. That is whom with all these international do-gooders need to address their issues. Leave Israel out of it. All Israel has ever had from Gaza were eight years of daily missile barrages, suicide bomber infiltrations, a soldier abduction and endless attempts at terror, terror and more terror. Don't look for the blockade to be lifted any time soon. Hey -- isn't that what everyone else in the world does with terrorist belligerent populations sworn to thier neighbor's destruction? Why would Israel be any different? Autonomy. It's one thing to want it. A whole different thing to actually make it work. Not Israel's problem. Sorry.
2. Not One Word for Israeli rocket Victims
reality check ,   zion   (12.22.09)
all these good doers have such kind words for gazans but not one word of symapthy for israeli children who get rockets for Chanukah. enough of these whiners, lets tellit like it is. The people of /?Gaza can blame themselves for their plight. they elected terrorists and now they live with the consquences. where does it obligate Israel to give aid to its enemies, these people are just nuts. when the peopl eof Gaza want a better life they can have it by getting rid of hamas and if they don't they get what they deserve.
3. As usual, no word about Egypt, nor Hamas and co.
S.   (12.22.09)
4. Wrong title - should read ...
Robby ,   San Jose, USA   (12.22.09)
"HAMAS has betrayed Gaza civilians"
5. Suffer The Consequences
Echte Nederlander ,   Amsterdam   (12.22.09)
Hamas and the terrorism program are supported by a large majority of the people of Gaza. What the 'rights' groups propose is that these people should not have to suffer the consequences of their vote and support of terrorism. Treat the Arabs as children, indulge them, patronize them.
6. NO, NO, NO. The MAJORITY voted the terrorist scum
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (12.22.09)
hamass into office and support them. Give a lie detector test to every citizen and let the ones who want peace move out of gaza. Then you have ONLY terrorists in gaza.
7. boo hoo
Barney ,   USA   (12.22.09)
they got what they asked for and now don't like it. sorry not Israel's problem. As far as a whole poplulation shouldn't suffer for the actions of a few? what about the whole populations of Sderot and area suffering for the actions of a few. not a problem if Jews huh? Let the Egyptians open the gate. Israel has no desire, obligation, to do so. Just another way to get terror into Israel.
8. "rights" groups are.....
George ,   Antwerp   (12.22.09)
leftist groups. Whenever they see an opportunity to condemn Israel through the media, they're present. This time again: they accuse Israel not Egypt and neither Hamas. Anyway I advise these groups should concentrate on places like Sudan, Zimbabwe etc.. where people have at least a descent life.
9. With "de facto"s like these, Oxfam loses credibility
JPS ,   Efrat   (12.22.09)
Where does Hobbs get off using the term "maintain their current de facto cessation of violence" after the facts show that Palestinians have fired more than 270 missiles and mortars at Israel this year? If this is "de facto", then Israel has also "de facto" opened the borders allowing tens of thousands of tons of relief supplies into Gaza. These "human rights" buffoons are nothing more than gullible tools int he Palestinian propaganda war.
10. Hamas betrayed Gaza civilians.
robert renders ,   belgium   (12.22.09)
11. makes me sick
Ilana   (12.22.09)
SCREAM!!!!!!! These rights groups are hypocrits and infuriating and make me sick to my stomach!
12. awwww
Myackie   (12.22.09)
gazans are the world's biggest victims...waaaaah
13. Wackos
The Last Zionist ,   Eilat   (12.22.09)
It's not often I agree with the predictable wackos who write to these talk backs. This time they have it right. Let the Egyptians and their Arab brethren worry about them. The Israeli government needs to worry about Israelis, both Arab Israelis and Jewish Israelis.
14. Take a look at a map
Joshua ,   SF USA   (12.22.09)
Gaza has a border with Egypt as well..yet it is always Israel who is blamed for the "siege". Why should Israel give anything to a proxy army sworn to kill every Jew on the earth? If they need toothpaste in Gaza, they can get it from their arab brothers in Egypt, but then that would stop the PR weapon the satanic media can't live without. Even the Egyptians hate the Persians enough to blockade Gaza, but they love to blame Israel for it even more!
15. amnesty are good at complaining not so good at solutions
zionist forever   (12.22.09)
Collective punishment is the only way to stop the collective punishment of Israelis through rocket attacks. Hamas are not a country whose assets we can freeze or place sanctions on they are a terror group who make their own laws and are answerable to nobody. We have seen many times before things like construction materials gets appropriated by Hamas and they taken to line tunnels not build houses. The tunnels must be stopped & the cross border smuggling must be stopped & if the seige is the only solution then we just have to accept thats the only way to do it even if the majority do suffer as a result. Prehaps if Oxfam outline specific essential projects they would like to see done then if they are willing at THEIR OWN EXPENSE bring in their own people to do the job and their own materials and tools and any excess once the job is done its taken away by Oxfam. Now I am sure if they cared about the palestinians as much as they love Israel bashing then something like that could be arranged provided they are willing to lay out the cash and take charge of the project not rely on the locals. Also I remember reading on here not long ago they are making traditional mud bricks and building with them so its not like there are no alternatives to concrete if they want to rebuild their homes.
16.  “Poor Palestinians”.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (12.22.09)
When Israel pulled out of Gaza, the world waited to see what the Palestinians would make of it, as a prelude to their having a full state including the West Bank. The first thing the Palestinians did was smash all the greenhouses the settlers had built, instead of using them to aid their economy. Then they turned Gaza into a mini-terror state, launching a war against Israel that continues to this day. And now they wonder why life in Gaza is so wretched, when it could have flourished. 17. to #1, Sarah B
Nelson P ,   Houston, TX   (12.22.09)
Sarah B: Your perception of reality is so skewed, your prejudice so extreme - that fact and fiction become one in your world. Palestinian Arabs living in Gaza are citizens of Egypt??? The Palestinians in Gaza actually hail from where you call "home". You see, these people were forcefully removed from their land & home in order to make room for "Israel". Your opinion is your opinion, but its not right for you to propogate a myth. Acknowledge the "original sin" perpetrated in 1948, lift the seige on Gaza, peace will land on your doorstep. Hamas has accepted a 1967 border compromise numerous times. The ball remains in your court no matter what you say Sarah B.
18. to Nelson P
Barney ,   USA   (12.22.09)
what have you been smoking? you really believe all of that baloney? the arabs have had many offers of peace. they want the land free of Jews period. that is not going to happen. read their charters. get the facts
19. # 17
Birdi ,   Israel   (12.22.09)
Agree with it or not, the Palestinians in Gaza are not Israel's responsiblity.
20. Acts of a few? Who? How many?
jewish doctor ,   United States   (12.22.09)
It's the other way around... It's the acts of the many and over a long period of time, affecting a few. I personally would have gone after Gilad, one gazan house at a time during Cat Lead...it would have been cheaper than what 1000 freed terrorists are going to do to the Jewish people the minute they go free....revenge their arrests.
21. to #17
Cameron ,   USA   (12.22.09)
"...peace will land on your doorstep." Oh son, that was naive & foolish as it comes. No excuse for that kind of silly babble. You merit Sarah's foot up your caboose for that kind of simplistic assessment. Use your wits & wise up, Nelson P!
22. Democracy
TimberTony ,   Australia   (12.23.09)
If I recall the MAJORITY of Gazans voted Hamas into power
23. #17 Blah,ha,ha,ha! Your opinion is a damn myth that should

25. 52% of Gaza are Refugees from Israel after declared state
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (12.23.09)
Refugees or descendants from after Israel was declared a state which would make them Israel citizens by International law but Israel refused to leave them reenter in part to declare their land abandon and make it state land. The abandon law also applied to Christians and other non-Jewish land owners. Why would it matter where a land owner lived as long as they paid their taxes, unless you need to take the land cheaply or for free. If you make it so taxes can only be paid in person and not allow then in the country then you can take land no matter what at no cost. To be fair the Arabs and Europeans took Jewish lands but have pay little back except in afew cases.
26. sick of blah blah blah amnesty international
sean ,   jerusalem   (12.23.09)
the best thing those imbeciles can do, instead of sucking up sucker money so they can travel the world for free, is go get real jobs and work for a change. i think the great majority of us are sick and tired of them period. what's this about blaming israel, who is effectively at cold war with gaza? gaza can do whatever they want with the border crossing with their good friends the egyptians, including building more border crossings there. the gazans are so good at building tunnels to transport weapons, why not use them to transport useful supplies? these radical left-wing ignoramuses cry "punishing the many for the acts of the few", but when you try to take care of those few, then they're all teary eyed about that too. take a look at the excellent video commentary about what happened to detroit as a result of a bunch left wingers being in charge for too long. ya, that was a real success. bleeding heart left wing ignoramuses.
27. Oxfam admits Palestinians take up too much time
steve from raleigh   (12.23.09)
This year Oxfam admitted that their single minded fanaticism about Palestinians has seriously harmed all their other efforts world wide. No other issue gets much attention or funding
28. SILLY GROUPS HAVE WRONG ADRESS -- TRY EGYPT !!
ABRAHAM ben JACOB ,   CANADA   (12.23.09)
ARE THESE GROUPS AND THEIR LEADERS SILLY BUFFOONS WHO DON'T KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON AND WHAT HAPPENNED ? LIKE #9 STATED.......THESE ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDING OXFAM HAVE LOST ANY SHRED OF CREDIBILITY.............. CRAZY ORGANIZATIONS THAT ONLY SEE WHAT THEY WANT TO AND CLOSE THEIR EYES TO THE ROCKETS FROM GAZA SHOOTING INTO ISRAEL THES ORGS. SHOULD KNOCK ON EGYPT'S DOOR, NOT ISRAEL'S. KATE ALLEN.... Kate Allen, director of Amnesty International UK. .........SHE SHOULD TALK TO THE ARABS TO HELP THIER OWN BROTHERS. OR SHE AND HER ARAB BACKED LEFTIST FREINDS SHOULD GO THEMSELVES INTO GAZA FROM EGYPT AND DON'T COMPLAIN TO ISRAEL..................THERE WAS A WAR ...STUPID !!!
29. to 11
