He is Irans Obama, tries to sell himself as all things to all people. The west liked some of the things he said and then because of the fact he didn't win and what he said was a rigged election led to riots which the state used extreme force to put down. In policy Mousavi is no better than Ahmadinejad he just doesn't make such firebrand speeches. He wants nukes just as much as anybody, he will accept ayatollah rule if he won the election. Also the last thing the west needs is change in Iran, Ahmadinejad & the ayatollahs are the enemy we know but Mousavi could make things worse. Saying the things we want to hear doesn't mean he will be exactly what we need for peace and stability.
